Chapter 5

Mandy's POV

It's been a while and I haven't seen or heard from Harry. I guess it's only been a month or so now. He's probably back on the road with the band finishing the tour and he's too busy to text me. Either that or he's probably knocked up a few women and forgotten about me. Whatever he's doing, I'm sure he's enjoying his time. God, I knew this was going to happen. I knew after one date we weren't going to see each other again. I have to admit that I actually miss him. I miss his flirty but cheesy texts and I miss our phone conversations.

The last time I talked to him was the day after our date and then I never heard from him again. I wonder if he's thinking the same thing as me. What if he's waiting for me to text or call him. Don't get me wrong or anything, I want to call him but I don't want to bother him. When it comes to me meeting guys, I like to leave them alone a little bit after the first date. Now just thinking about this, Harry probably isn't thinking the same thing as me. I'm too young for him anyway. I'm right now lying outside by the pool, working on my tan and trying to get my mind off of things.

My mom is in bed because doesn’t “feel well” so she’s been up there almost all afternoon, Alicia is at her boyfriends house, and I have no idea where my friends are. I feel like I lost everything in just a week. After having enough in the sun, I tie my bikini back up and go in the house. I get a glass of water and go upstairs to shower. Sometimes it's nice to have the house to myself because I can do pretty much whatever I want. I go into my bedroom and into my bathroom to start the shower. I take my hair out of my messy bun and strip out of my bikini before stepping to the shower. After washing my hair, I decide to stand under the water for a while and think about things.

But the only person that keeps coming into my mind is Harry. I can't believe I'm going to say this but he's cute. I don't even know why I denied that when I first heard of One Direction.  Stupid me! It's not just his personality that I find cute, it's his eyes, his face, his smile, and most importantly...his curly hair. I just want to run my fingers through it. It's probably so soft and — Stop it Mandy! Get him out of your head. You're never going to see him anymore. Ever! Just get over him. I sigh and decide to get out of the shower before I waste the hot water. I wrap a towel around me and go back into my bedroom to get dressed. I put on jean shorts and a tank top.

I leave my hair to dry and then, I put on After-Sun tan lotion to make my tan last longer. After that, I grab my phone off my nightstand to see that nobody still hasn't called or texted me. Do I not have friends anymore? I sigh and put it in my pocket and I check on my mom in her room, to find her sleeping peacefully. I can barely talk to her anymore. Now that my daddy is gone, she has to work a lot or passed out on the couch drunk or in seclusion, I can never have the chance to talk to her that much anymore.

It hurts but I sometimes manage to get through it. I sigh and quietly shut her door and make my way downstairs. Once I got down there, I hear the doorbell ring. Finally someone is here to keep me company. I go to answer the door but when I opened it, I realized that no one is there except a bouquet of roses, with a little note inside, on the ground. I pick them up and take out the card to read it.

'I haven't forgotten about you. Still thinking about your cute face everyday. So, dinner tonight? Be ready by 6.

-H. :)'

Awww Harry! I smile at his cute but cheesy note. He's just the sweetest. I guess he hasn't forgotten about me after all. I carry the roses into the kitchen and set them in a vase full of water. I don't even remember how long it's been since I last got flowers by a boy. Probably when Mason and I were together, I guess but they really meant nothing now just thinking about it. I look at the time and I realize that it's 5:30 PM. I only got a half an hour until he gets here! Shit! I quickly put the roses in the vase and rush upstairs. I have to look perfect for this date. I quickly blow dry my hair and straighten it before putting on some light makeup. Then I go into my bedroom and decide to put on a jean skirt and a cute top.

For the final touch, I put on some lip-gloss and perfume. A few minutes later, I hear the doorbell ring downstairs. He's here. I check myself in the mirror one last time to make sure I don't look funny. My skirt is a little too short but it doesn't show off anything so I think I'm good. I slip on flip-flops and hurry down the stairs. I smooth my hair in place and open the door. My heart jumps when I see Harry. He looks adorable in jeans and his purple Jack Wills sweatshirt. I smile and walk outside, shutting the door behind me.

"Hey," I said.

"Hey," he replied. "You look cute,"

"Thanks," I smiled.

He smiles back and he leads me to the car. This time he doesn't have a driver to take us to our date. I guess he's taking me somewhere he doesn't want people to know about. He opens the passenger door for me and I thank him with a smile as I get in. Then he gets into the drivers side and starts up the car. Before leaving, he looks at me, and smiles again.

"What?" I asked.

"Oh, nothing," he replied and pulls out of my driveway and onto the road.

"Nothing," his smile grows. He starts to leave the driveway.

There's an awkward silence between us for a couple of minutes, both of us too nervous to speak. I want to start a conversation but I don't know what to say. I'm afraid I'm going to say or ask something embarrassing. I seriously don't want that to happen, especially when I'm with a famous member in a popular pop band. He's probably nervous to say something as well so I sigh and look over at him.

"So are you going tell me where we're going?"

"Nope," he replied with a smile still on his face. "It's a surprise,"

Great. Another surprise. Why can't he just tell me where we're going for once? I mean this may be our second date but I really like to know where we're going instead of just sitting here trying to guess on where he's taking us. Usually boys tell me where we're going and it makes me feel more comfortable. I'm not uncomfortable with Harry it's just that I always like to know where we're going because I never know, he may not be the type of person I thought he was a week ago.

"Can you at least tell me if I'm dresses appropriately?"

He looks me over and grins.

"You look perfect,"

I giggle.

"Thanks," I say again, flattered.

For the rest of the ride, we continue talking about things. He said that the band has finished the Up All Night Tour in Fort Lauderdale, Florida a few days ago and they flew back to LA yesterday. I guess that's why we haven't talked in a while. Mostly I just call it quit on guys that take a month to see me again, but I get why Harry and I couldn't talk a lot because of the tour and all that. A few minutes later, Harry starts driving down a dirt road in the middle of nowhere. I haven't seen a car in miles! We finally reach a clearing in the woods and he stops the car. Another secret place that I really don't trust. How does he even find these places and not think that they're dangerous? I really want to ask him that but I decide to keep my mouth shut and not ask any questions.

"Don't worry, this place isn't dangerous. I checked it out with my manager and he said its fine as long as if we don't get lost," he said.

I nod and follow him out of the car and we walk down the trail, but not that far. Harry pushes back a few plants, revealing a romantic setting by a lake. I haven't seen this place before but I have to admit that it's nice. And Harry did a good job once again setting this up. Another date on the beach. I think I like this guy. In front of me I see white canopy with a white dining table in the middle set for two with candles, flowers, and candles. There even two white chairs on either side of the table with light and decorations hanging beautifully from the top of the canopy inside. Surrounding the canopy is dozens of rose pedals spread out everywhere and candles on the ground.

Food is already set on the table and then Harry leads me over. He pulls out my chair for me and pushes it in under the table for me before sitting down across from me. While we enjoy our dinner, we have a few conversations here and there. I mostly started them because I find it awkward when we're not talking. I mean, I like hearing his voice. I don't know why but I find his voice kind of sexy. When we finished eating, Harry and I decide to walk around a little while. We're walking pretty close to each other, which is making our hands brush against each other once and a while. Then, I feel him lace his fingers with mine, making my heart pound and I look at him.

"Sorry," he said, with a embarrassed smile on his face.

"It's okay," I said and hold my hand out for him again.

"Can I ask you something?" he asked.

"Sure," I replied.

"I know it's been a month since we last saw each other but, I really like you. Really, I do," he said. "Ever since I left to finish the tour with the band, I couldn't get my mind off of you, I wanted to see you again but I couldn't figure out how. But now that we're together now, would you consider on being my girlfriend?"

My heart flutters out of my chest after he said 'girlfriend'. He really wants to be with me? I may have gotten to know him and all but I'm still not sure. How do I know that he's not like Mason? But I highly doubt Harry is like him. He's too sweet. I look at him and part my lips trying to say something but no words come out.

"You okay?" he asked.

"Y-Yeah.... it's just that I had a bad relationship a few months back and I'm kind of nervous about dating again because I'm afraid I might get hurt,"

"I'm not like that," he said. "If you be my girlfriend, I will never hurt you. Ever. I will treat you like you're my girlfriend and be with you every day. Please just give me a chance, Mandy. I really, really want to be with you,"

I think for a moment. He really wants to be with me. I guess I can give him a chance. Just the way he told me how he's not like Mason makes me trust him even more. I really like Harry too. He's so sweet, and he's cute. I don't know why I denied that in the first place. God, I was so stupid. Harry's eyes sparkle, like he's waiting for me to answer. Slowly, I nod and a smile appears on my face.

"I'll give you a chance,"

"Really?" he asked.

I nod.

"But one thing though.....I don't do cheating,"

"Neither do I," he replied.

Slowly, he leans in and I do the same until our lips connect together. We kiss with passion and it's making me get over Mason immediately. All I'm thinking about is how soft Harry's lips feel against mine and how gentle he is. We stand there, kissing, in the sunset for a few minutes and we finally pull apart.

"Can we not tell the media about us yet?" I asked. "I mean they'll eventually find out but can we not tell them yet?"

"Anything you want," he replied as he takes my hand. "I should take you home now,"

I nod and we begin to head back to trail to start walking. Harry goes first and he takes out his phone from his back pocket and uses the light to light the path since it's almost getting dark out. We finally got back to his Range Rover. He holds the door open for me and helps me in, I feel so short in this car. Then, Harry gets in and we leave. Just like that, the night is over. I look over at him driving and smile. He smiles back. I can't believe I'm dating a celebrity. I know it's going to be hard with all the media and fans but I don't care. I really like Harry and I want to be with him. Now that he's not busy with touring I can see him more every day. I know he won't hurt me in any way. He's too nice. He wouldn't do anything right? I think I can trust him.
