A Not-So Cinderella Story

When I felt like I was being swept off my feet in a Cinderella story, someone had to be there to drop me, right?
Let's backtrack a little.
Cher Topman. A simple name for a complex girl like me. I'm an orphan at a little orphanage in London, but don't be fooled. Just because it's in London doesn't mean that it's extravagant.
When a rich American single woman makes the fatal decision to adopt me and take me back to America, my life is turned upside down by some people I never thought I'd meet.

7. Maybe. Just maybe.

"I don't know if I'm ready, Cher," I say to Cher Lloyd, who's helping me get ready for my date with Justin.

"You're ready. Alright, outfit check," she says and I turn to face her.

"Red jeans, sparkly top, black leather jacket, black converse, windswept hair, charcoal makeup, and Justin's "Girlfriend" perfume. Perfect!" she squeals. The lobby bell rings. She squeals again and I feel my stomach churning. How is it already Tuesday?

"I'll see you later!" she says and pushes me to the the speaker.

"You can come up," I say hoarsely into the speaker. Soon, the elevator opens and Justin walks in.

"Wow! You look ho- I mean, you look gorgeous," he says, correcting himself.

"It's a step," I laugh.

"Are you ready?" he asks.

"Yep. Did you bring my notebook?" I ask him.

"Of course. Have you got mine?" he asks as we walk into the elevator.

"Yes. I haven't looked at yours, just so you know," I tell him.

"I haven't looked through yours either. I didn't want to intrude. But can I ask, what's in it that's so important?" he asks.

"Well, I like to write poetry. Haylee is teaching me now how to set the poetry to music, so technically they are lyrics now," I tell him.

"Really? I didn't know you write," he says and presses the lobby button.

"There's a lot you don't know about me," I smile.

"Well I would like to learn," he says and leads me to his fancy car.

"Let's start with the basics. Favorite color?" I ask him as we're driving.

"Purple," he answers.

"Purple," I answer.

"There's a match. Favorite food?" he says.

"Spaghetti," I answer.

"Spaghetti," he repeats.

"Favorite song?" I say and we go on like that until we get to the Italian resturaunt he's taking me to. We sit down right away and have a thriving chat. We talk about his fame, my experience in New York, and I'm actually surprised with how real Justin can be. I decide not to tell him about my past in the orphanage though. He doesn't ask, and I really don't think he needs to know about that. After dinner, he drives to his hotel.

"What are we going to do?" I ask.

"Anything. I'm kind of in the mood for cake though. Wanna make one?" he asks.

"I''m always in the mood for cake," I laugh and we go up into his room, cracking jokes about the snotty people from the resturaunt.

"Alright. We need..." he says, obviously lost. Luckily, Haylee taught me how to make cake yesterday.

I spout out the ingredients and he gathers them up.

"Flour," I say and hold my hand out. He hands me the bag of flour and a measuring cup. I measure out the amount we need and set the flour down.

"Eggs," I say and he hands me the eggs. I crack them open and throw them in the sink.

"Can you do the milk and sugar?" I ask him and wash the egg of my hands. He measures out and adds those ingredients. I turn the mixer on, but I accidentally set it to full blast. The flour shoots straight into both of our faces. We stand there for a second with our mouths open, and then burst into laughter. Then, I throw some sugar at him. Not a good thing to do. He grabs some chocolate syrup and squirts it at me. Then we go into full fledge war. We use anything we can get our hands on in the kitchen, and in the end, have more on us than in the batter. In an attempt to clean up, I slip on some egg yolk. At the last second, I grab Justin's arm and we go down together. He lands right next to me on the floor and we start laughing, but don't get up. After the laughter dies down, he leans in, expecting a kiss, but a put my pointer finger in between our lips. He breaks off confused.

"A girl worth kissing is not easily kissed," I smile and he smiles back. He helps me up and we do our best to clean ourselves up, wiping the goo off our faces.

"Well, no cake. But that was fun," I laugh.

"How about a horror movie? You scared?" he laughs.

"Of course not!" I say and he pops Insidious into the DVD player and sits next to me on the couch.

Let's just say by the end of the movie, my legs are curled in a ball and I'm hiding my face in Justin's chest.

"Did that scare you?" he laughs.

"Just a bit," I laugh and look at the messy kitchen with wide eyes.

"Don't worry. The maids will get it," he laughs.

"Well, I better be getting home," I say. He agrees and we go down to his car.

"So, what did you think?" Justin laughs.

"That was fun," I admit.

"How were my lady skills?" he asks.

"Just fine, actually," I say. He turns on the radio and Christmas music comes on the radio.

"Yes!" he says.

"What?" I ask.

"It's the first time I've heard Christmas music this year. It's officially starting," he laughs and turns it up.

"Wait, but Halloween just ended," I say.

"That's when they start playing it on radios. Christmas is by far my favorite holiday," he says. Soon, we're back at my penthouse and he's taking me up on the elevator.

The doors open. I turn to him.

"Thank you so much. It was really fun. I'll text you later," I smile and walk away, the doors closing, making the barrier between us. Then, I hear a bunch of footsteps come down the hallway. Haylee, Cher, Christopher, Cece Frey, Taylor Swift, and all the boys from One Direction run in screaming.

"What are you guys doing here!?" you laugh.

"About half the world knows you were on a date with Justin, and we want to be the first ones to know!" Cece says and they all circle around me and lean in.

"It was great," I admit and they all grin back.

"Tell us EVERYTHING!" Haylee smiles, so I play storyteller and tell them. In the end, everyone is feeling content.

"So did you get your notebook back?" Taylor asks. I facepalm.

"You didn't even get it back? That's what you went out with him for!" Cher laughs.

"I think that's what he wanted," Niall says.

"You know, Justin's a lucky guy to have you even give him the time of day," Chris says.

"To tell the truth, I was going to turn on the charm at the premier, but I saw Justin looking at you, so I decided to back off," Liam admits.

"He was looking at me?" I ask.

"Only every second. Even when he was talking to other people, he would constantly look over his shoulder to make sure no other guy was making you fall for him," Louis laughs and I blush yet again.

"Do you think it could work out?" Harry asks.

"Maybe. Just maybe," I smile.
