24. The Girl In The Tent (Part Two)

"So," said Kytra. "You wanted to ask me some questions?"

She settled herself on the cushioned floor and gestured for Ocello, Pike and Fletch to do the same.

"Er, yes." replied Ocello, settling herself down on the padded ground. "But I'm afraid you may find them rather strange,"

"Oh, strange things don't bother me," said Kytra happily. "Just look around,"

Ocello couldnt help smiling at that, and tried to press on, but she now became aware of how silly she was going to sound, and she started to stutter.

"Well...I...I thought...maybe..."

"She heard a voice," Pike interrupted.

Kytra raised her eyebrows, but not skeptically. She seemed curious.

"A voice?"

"Yes," said Ocello.

"That is very interesting...but it is not usually what people come to me about..."

"I thought you were a witch!" Fletch demanded suddenly. Ocello cringed, but unaware of this, Fletch continued, "I thought you knew about this sort of thing!"

"I am not a witch," said Kytra calmly, pushing back a lock of red hair, and looking Fletch straight in the eyes. She paused, and then turned to Ocello. "I might not be wholly "magical" but...I think I can help you. Well...I think I can try."

Kytra fingered the tiny fragments of gemstone in her pocket. "I've been noticing strange things, and I have a feeling..." She let her voice trail away strangely, and the whole atmosphere in the tent seemed to tense slightly.

Fletch caught Pikes eye. There was a scared expression on his face. "Anyway," said Kytra. "I think you had better start from the beginning." Ocello nodded, and took a deep breath.
