10. Mistake

Amber’s Point of View

A few minutes after Niall yelled he would get the door, I heard voices in the living room. It was only Zoe’s voice, and she was excitedly telling Niall something. Was it a good idea to invite Zoe over? She hadn’t mentioned a past relationship with Niall, so I assumed they hadn’t had one, but the way Zoe talked, it sounded like they did.

“Anyways, then my little brother decided he would go for a swim…” Zoe’s voice trailed in and out of my ears. Part of me wanted to hear it, and another didn’t. I busied myself as I finished up cleaning my room, and then headed downstairs to where Niall and Zoe where talking… well basically Zoe.

As soon as I saw her, I knew she was super excited. Her eyes were glowing, and she couldn’t keep still. She was in love… I felt a pang of jealousy as I set the coffee maker to start.

“Amber!” Zoe exclaimed when she stopped long enough to see me. She got up from her seat on the couch and ran over to give me a hug. I awkwardly hugged her back. “Thanks soo much inviting me to see Niall again! It’s been forever!” She exclaimed.

“Anytime,” I replied with a grim smile. “You want coffee?” I asked her.

                “No… I’m fine.”

                “Okay…what about you Nialler, dear?”

“Yes, coffee please!” Niall quickly said in his cute, Irish accent. I never got sick of it.

“Coming right up!” I took out two coffee mugs, and filled them with the coffee, put in sugar and milk and took the mugs to the living room before taking a seat beside Niall on the loveseat. He put his arm around my shoulders, and I snuggled up next to him.

Zoe didn’t seem to take too much offence to it, of which I was glad and finished telling us about her life which wasn’t too interesting.

About two hours later Zoe decided she had to leave, and we said bye. As soon as the front door closed Niall confronted me.

“Why’d you invite her, Amber?!” he asked angrily.

“I thought that it would be good for you to get together with Zoe… she said you guys were good friends,” I defended myself as I went to the kitchen and packed the dishwasher.

“We were more than friends,” Niall told me. I stopped in my tracks.

                “You guys… dated?”

“Yes… we were in a serious relationship,” Niall replied in a sorry tone. “She said that she wanted to marry me… and I wanted to marry her… but then I went off to the xfactor, got famous. She decided she didn’t want that, so I broke up with her. Now today… today it seemed like she was still in love.”

“And you’re over her?” I made sure.

“Of course, Amberger! I’ve got you, and I’m happy with that.” Niall said and hugged me. It was then that I realized it was a huge mistake to invite Zoe over…
