We exchanged a few more comments on the weather, which was still raining, and that was pretty much it for the conversation. we stared out the blacked out windows.
It was beautiful of course, i couldn't deny that, everything was so white, the trees reached up high into the blue sky.

Eventually we made it to dad's. He lived in a huge mansion but i know it was just for show he would much happier live in the two bed apartment he'd brought with my mother in the early days of their marriage. those were the only days, the early ones.

There in front of the 4 car garage was my mustang it looked brand new " wow, dad i love it thanks!" now my horrific day tomorrow would be that much less dreadful. I would be faced with the choice of either walking two miles to the studio or accepting a ride in dads car.

" Im glad you like it" dad said embarrassed. it only took one trip to get all my stuff upstairs. I took the smallest of the 5 sprawling bedrooms. the room was slightly familiar i had all my stuff shipped over from London they were all the way they should be. I looked at the brand new mac in the corner, this was the only stipulation from my mom, so we could facetime each other easily. my new bedroom had an en-suite my old room had a single bathroom which i had to share with my mom.

One of the best things about dad is that he doesn't hover. He left me alone to unpack and get settled, a feat my mother would have found all near impossible. It was nice to be alone, not to have to smile and look pleased, a relief dejectedly out of the window, at the sheeting rain and let just a few tears escape  i wasnt in the mind to go on a real crying tangent.
