5. The first date

I had not hesitated even the slightest, before I answered the question. And I had smiled and told him, that I looked forward to the tour.

But now, dressed in slim jeans and a casual but still quite sexy top, I suddenly couldn´t find the excitement. My hands were already sweaty, and I could actually hear my heart, so loud was it beating.

The doorbell sounded, and I heard footsteps on the wooden floor downstairs, as my mother went up to open the door.

I was still standing in front of the mirror in my room, and I had to take a deep breath, before I felt safe enough on my feet, to start moving down the stairs.

I thought I heard a small, almost unhearable gasp, when I came in to view about halfway down the staircase. My mouth opened into a smile, and this time, it was me, who had to break the silence.

"Hi Drew." I was surprised that my voice didn´t shake at all, because I felt like the rest of my entire body was. Why I was so god damn nervous, I had no idea about. But from the look on Drew´s smiling, and oblivious surprised face, I guessed, that I wasn´t the only one, who felt, that this "date" was very important.

The street was almost pitch black, and in the dark I felt almost as a electrical current ran between Drew and me. He walked only inches besides me, but his face was still cloaked by darkness.

When we reached the sidewalk, he turned to the left. I followed him, and started looking at the multiple cars, that were parked be the side of the road. I recognized some of our neighbors cars, but I wasn´t able to locate a car, that I thought could be Drews.

I think it could be heard on the way I stepped forward, that I was getting a little impatient, for at the same time as the thought came to my mind, Drew turned, smiled and told me, that it only was a little bit further. Before I had time to think of an answer, his soft voice sounded again,
"Here we are." He stopped and turned smiling towards me. I smiled back, confused. I looked at the three cars parked closest to us, a Audi of a model, that I could not afford to know the name of, a smaller mercedes, that still looked very expensive, and last there was a small fiat.

I guess Drew saw which car my gaze landed on, and the smile was easy to hear in his voice when he spoke again.

"I´m sorry that I had to park so far away. I´m not used to navigating this car, and I didn´t want to make any dents." The sound of a keyset reached my ear and a small "beep" made one of the cars flash its light, as it was unlocked with the remote.

"That!" I was speechless.

"That is your car?!" It was a stupid question, he had unlocked the doors, and now opened the passenger door, and held it open for me. A perfect gentleman. And I didn´t even notice. I had thought my share of thoughts, and had had my share of ideas about Drew. But for some reason I had not expected, that he was stinking rich, and so adorably charming.

"Come on. Jump in, we don´t have all night" Drew's face was still partly hidden in darkness, but I could hear the smile in his voice, and it didn´t take much imagination, to figure out, how his face would look.

As I slid in to the soft leather seat, and Drew walked around the car to take the drivers seat, I was suddenly hit by a weird feeling.

The same feeling, that had stuck me, when our eyes met on the first day. A feeling of being completely helpless, and stuck in a small bubble of ancient times.

The roar of an more than 6 cylindered engine almost made me jump in the seat. Drew smiled, and for a second I thought, that I saw something in his eyes.

As we drove down the street, the dusty white light from the street lights fell into the car, and exposed flashes of Drew´s face and body, as he silently drove.

Hundreds of butterflies were tumbling around in my stomach, and I had to repress the urge, to put my hand over his on the gearshift.

When we reached the city, he pulled over and parked the car near a small cafe, that I had not noticed before.

Before he opened his own door, he told me with a smile, to sit tight. I watched as he walked around the hood of the car, and came to open my door, and a small part of my mind was wondering how many other girls, he had managed to charm with his old fashioned gentleman style.
