1. Prologue

My name is Ben Asher, I am a multi-award winning singer and actor, this is my story about the love of my life and our loving letters to each other for twenty years. The letters start in the summer of 1982, when I Benjamin Asher am just 11 years old and I hear a from my little sister that the young girl across the street from my Grandma's house was told she was not allowed to play with my little sister.

Why I took it so seriously at the time, I don't know, all I know is that my little sister was concerned at the aggressiveness of they young girl's father when he dragged her back into the house by her hair, as a boy who loved his 1930's to 1960's movies I started to conjure up a letter to write to her, like they did back in the days before excessive use of telephones or emails.

The girl I am talking about is Caitlyn Thomas, she was the same age as me at the time, she was 11 also. We had never talked to each other before this, but we both kept in touch for 20 years. This story will show you everything you need to know about mine and her life as I have put together our letters which I have kept safe in a secure unit at my apartment in London, England for seven years, before that it was based at my mothers house in the country in a safe in the attic.

Our wording and spelling in the first years wasn't brilliant, but I wanted to keep everything authentic as I pieced together the stories of our lives, the letters were not in any way changed, altered or corrected as I wanted it to be real and that is how it will stay.

If you like love stories you have come to the right place, but if you want something with a bit more depth and darkness, thrill and mourning, you are also in the right place as this is a story about life, and as you will find out, in life things happen which you may not possibly like, but that is just that, life, so I digest, this is the story about two children and they're conflicts on their way to adulthood.

Thank you for reading, hope you enjoy.

Much love,

Ben Asher
