Same Mistakes

Liam’s intense brown eyes snuck another glance towards me while he remained silent. Zayn’s hand on mine seemed to grow stronger with each passing moment. The room grew thick in tension, but Zayn didn’t know why. I continued staring at Liam, not knowing how to move on from this point.
“Liam,” asked Zayn. “What’s the matter?”
Liam seemed to jump back into reality and his face came back to life. “What are you talking about?” he said smiling.
I stood frozen as Zayn glanced down at me. I only shrugged my shoulder, pretending I had no idea what was going on, but inside, my emotions were in a whirlwind as I remembered the events that occurred a few years ago.

12. All Day Long

Zayn's P.O.V.

Harry had dragged me with him to this apartment in downtown London. I had specifically told him that we had needed to go shopping for food or else we would starve.

“Zayn, please, it’s just a little detour,” Harry said.

“Sure, a ‘little’ detour,” I mocked him. Harry gently slapped my shoulder and I laughed.  “So where exactly are we going?”

“You see, I promised a friend of mine that I would welcome her to England, and she’s here now. So I have to welcome her to England.”

“A friend?” I asked.

He gave me that look and said, “Yes, she really is just a friend.” I only nodded my head as Harry parked in front of this brick red building. We stepped out of the car. I put my sunglasses on and walked behind Harry as he led us towards the door. A girl with brilliant red hair opened the door, her face instantly breaking into a smile. She began squealing, screaming out the name ‘Lucy’ several times.

A second girl began to walk down the hallway behind the girl, and I assumed she was Lucy.

“Lucy!” yelled Harry. Lucy glanced at me and then she ran towards Harry, giving him a hug.

“Hey Harry! It’s been ages,” she said.

“I know! Hey, I want you to meet Zayn, but I bet you already knew that,” he said.

I removed my sunglasses as she walked over to and gave me a hug as well. She pulled away and smiled at me, “Hi Zayn, I’m Lucy.”

“Hi,” I replied. She had gorgeous curly hair and was wearing shorts and a light blue tank top. The outfit suited her well and seemed to show she was ready for a good time. We stood there for a moment, smiling at each other. Harry cleared his throat as the red head lead him away.

“Kathy?” Lucy asked the red head. “Where are you taking Harry?”

“I don’t know. We only just got here,” she said, waving a hand dismissively.

Lucy turned back around. “Would you care for a tour?” she asked.

I nodded. I wasn’t sure what to talk to her about. She grabbed my elbow and led me up some stairs. Once we reached the second floor, I saw the dark hallway and then the empty rooms.

“So you two just got here?” I asked her.

She nodded, “Sorry for the emptiness.” She began peeking through random rooms until she declared, “This one.”

“This one?” I asked as I followed her into the room.

“Welcome to my room,” she smiled, spinning around as her curls whirled around her. I walked around the borders until I reached one of the windows. Outside, I saw the bustling avenue with people rushing by. I turned back around only to see the room empty. I stepped outside just in time to see Lucy turn the corner. I chased after her.

“You know, it’s not very nice to leave a pop star alone in an empty room,” I said behind.  She only laughed as she reached the bottom step.

“Help me decorate,” she said earnestly, pointing to a bunch of boxes on the floor.

“Oh man,” I said. “That’s going to take all day.”

She laughed, “It’s ok, I don’t mind hanging out with a pop star all day long.”
