14. Time

It was now 10.30pm. Time was moving forward into the inevitable horror perhaps to come within the next half an hour. My palms were hot and clammy and rubbed together uncomfortably as i looked at Liam who was staring intently at the TV. He had sat in the same seat for hours, occasionally looking across to me; checking i was ok. He didn't want me to leave. I'd kicked up a fuss earlier and now he was on extra alert. I hadn't caused trouble since. Yet now i really did need to do something.

"Liam, would you be able to get me a glass of water?" My voice was choked from the screaming.

"Sure, but i'm getting Niall to watch over you"

I supressed a groan, fearing the value of freedom. I watched as Liam slipped smoothly from the room and was replaced with Niall who casually sprung himself onto the couch and changed the channel on the TV. His actions showed he was calm and happy however his face showed differently. His eyes were red from endless crying and his expression was forced into a smile of a sardonic nature. I shuddered as a chill entered my body. Louis.

"I'm just going to the toilet Niall" As soon as i spoke, he quickly drew his face to look at mine, pain etched onto his features.

"Liam said you're not to go can't help L-" His voice caught. "Louis" His head tilted downwards as he supressed a silent sob.

"I need to go though"

"You can hold it" He shot back.

"It's not something you can hold..." I stretched out the sentence allowing time before Niall realised the meaning of my words; even if they were made up.

His mouth fomed an O shape and with acknowledgement, he nodded his head. "Be quick though"

This was my chance. I sprung from the sofa and headed towards the door. The knob turned effortlessly in my hand. The door lock clicked open and i slid out into the cold, dark night.
