Chapter 10
ASPEN’S P.O.V

To say I was infuriated was an understatement. I didn’t like him. At least I think I didn’t. I just met him like, what? Three days ago? Not only that but he was nothing but rude to me ever since. And now when I thought he was being a little sincere and kind, he goes ahead and pulls something like that one me. No way.

After we went into a complete stare down mode his eyes looked away irritated; there was the Harry I knew and despised. “You want us to just stand here and look ridiculous or are you going to dance with me?” he held out his arms to me expecting me to fall into them willingly, challenging my morals. I knew what he expected me to do, to go crawling back to Zayn and Liam but right now I wanted to do anything but.

I leaned into him pressing my back to his chest as the music pounded in my ears. Our bodies molded and I felt him grab my hips as we danced to the trendy hip hop that thudded with a heavy bass. I could feel his surprise when I hesitantly leaned closer to him. If someone asked me if I would dance with Harry Styles two days earlier I would have laughed out loud and retorted, “Not in a million years.” Yet here I was dancing with him and we were so tightly pressed up against each other that not even a piece of paper could be placed between us.

Right as I could feel him getting into it, when I heard how quickly he was breathing – I stopped. I untangled myself from his insistent arms and walked back to where the other four were standing. I took a sip of my coke as if nothing happened and looked back at him. He had a sour expression and his glare penetrated my eyes. But I just shrugged as if challenging him to come towards me, to drag me back on there, to finish what I started. I wasn’t going to do anything but.

Louis stalked over dressed in a striped long sleeve that was doused in heavy cologne, “Did you just blue ball, my poor Harry?”

I laughed not taking my eyes off of Harry and watched as he turned his back to me probably asking some other sorry girl to dance. “Yea, you could say that,”

“About time don’t you think?” He agreed smirking as he surveyed Harry who walked around the dance floor looking for a partner. “And don’t feel bad, the bloke needs to work for something for once in his life.”

I smiled at him and took another sip of my cola then felt an arm go around my shoulders. At first I thought it’d be Harry but turned to face Zayn who had an indifferent expression on his face. “Want payback?” he whispered in my ear causing the hairs on the back of my neck stand in attention.

I know I shouldn’t let revenge get the best of me but I gave in, “What did you have in mind?” I raised my eyebrow at him as he drew me in closer.

“Finish what you started,” And then Zayn proceeded to drag me back onto the dance floor, my heart rate increased at our proximity as he drew me near him and tugged my body towards his. I’ll admit it here and now, I did dance with him and well…I liked it. Zayn wasn’t as aggressive like Harry but still had that roughness to him that didn’t make me want to run away.

“Guess we’re on the right path, Harry looks like he wants to all but eat us both alive,” Zayn’s voice was raspy and I could feel his lips on my ear that made shivers run down my spine. I didn’t have the courage to look back at him because I was scared that what I was feeling now would only consume me and only make me lash out without thinking.

I voice came out in ragged beats as I murmured, “That’s…great,” I glanced back over at the other boys who were still by the bar, Liam was staring me down but his eyes weren’t glazed with anger but melancholy like as if he wanted to be Zayn and Harry. Louis looked amused and I could almost sense his grin a mile away. Niall however looked like he was in his own little world grinning and munching on hors d’oeuvres completely oblivious to what was happening around him. It was then when I realized I had gotten myself way over my head. I couldn’t like any of them as much as I wanted to because it was wrong giving in-giving in to what I felt…for them.

Zayn’s hands where all over me as they traced the intricate lace on my bodice and the seams at the end of the dress. His mouth was doing incredible things to my neck and all I could do was go along with it- but then he stopped. I almost whimpered at the loss of warmth his presence gave me when he finally let go of me towed me back to the bar. I was breathless as I took another sip of my soda and timidly adjusted my hair that had fallen in loose strays in all the…craziness.

“That was quite some show there Zayn,” Louis said patting Zayn on the back, he then tilted his head low whispering to me, “could have fooled me.”

I cleared my throat and almost choked on my own spit at his remark. I scanned the crowd and saw Harry tastelessly dancing with a blonde. I rolled my eyes instinctively careful not to show how much it tugged at me like a mosquito bite. As I sat down at the nearby stool I turned, resting my elbows on the bar playing carelessly with the opening of the coke can. When I looked over my shoulders I found that the boys had gone. I shrugged not really caring at all, it would give me time to think, especially since Zayn wasn’t there to stare at me the way he did. I sighed hopelessly, I had never really felt this wanted and it was all a new feeling that confused me and picked at me. I didn’t want a life like this, like the one they had where my decisions are made for me. Twirling the ends of my hair I put an end to my hazed thoughts and was about to go looking for them when I found two guys staring at me.

They both looked rather attractive I must admit what with their brown hair and colored eyes. I furrowed my eyebrows and took a peek over my shoulder thinking that some other far more appealing girl than I was stationed anywhere near me. But there was none. I gave them a questioning look and pointed myself and mouthed, “Me?” They nodded and motioned me over. I hopped off the stool almost losing my balance on my heels and walked awkwardly in their direction.

“Now what’s a pretty girl like you doing all alone?”

“Don’t tell me your boyfriend is somewhere here with some other girl,” The other sneered, his deep blue eyes ravenously looking me up and down.

Disgusted I stepped back wondering why in the first place I even approached them, “I’m here with, with-“ I didn’t know what to call them, One Direction? Would they even believe I knew them?

“Poor girl doesn’t even know,” The lighter haired one put his arm nonchalantly placed his arm over my shoulders while the other grabbed at my waist.

Their unwanted touches made me want to convulse and frighten me. “C’mon we’ll take you on a little tour around,”

My first compulsion was to run from them seeing they weren’t even close to being eighteen and looked around fifteen and sixteen. But since when did sixteen year old go to parties like this? I couldn’t conjure up the courage to leave because their grip was iron solid and their retaliation was what I dreaded.

“Hey, Howard! McNara!” I turned at the voice and saw Liam bounding towards me. I sent out a prayer of thanks as the two boys released their hold on me and turned to face Liam.

“What do you want Liam?” The dark haired one asked.

Liam gave them a menacing glare at them, “Trying to steal my date already?”

“She’s your date?” the other spat disbelievingly.

“Yes so it’s time for you two to leave,” he placed a warm hand on the small of my back and guided me away from them but before he left he looked back, “And isn’t past your bedtime?”

I laughed at that one and peered up at him as I saw his brown lashes flutter to stare at me. “Thanks,” I muttered appreciatively.

He squeezed my hand reassuringly before kissing the back of my hand, “Just promise me you won’t get into more trouble tonight.”

I nodded dumbfounded as his sudden contact of his lips to my hand made me feel breathless all over again, “I promise.”
