Snob vs. Skank

Dear Diary,

This is my chance. My chance to look the part and fit in, even though I will never be the same as everyone else, and they will always be oblivious as to why.

Not everything is a 'dear diary' moment. Some things you wish you could rub out and forget. But that can't always happen.

1. Annabel

Year 10 at last! And this year is going to be a-ma-zing.

I'm Annabel. I have to write a diary for a school project. I don't mind; school is okay. Don't get me wrong - I'm not a pathetic little geek! I like school because I'm the most popular girl there. Sounds conceited, but it's true. So this diary will be jam-packed with information about me, my friends, and maybe something about my boring family.

The first day back was great - messing around in class, doodling on my maths book, throwing food at the losers in our year. Such a laugh! And there's a new guy as well, and he's gorgeous! My friend Clarissa insists they would make a great couple, but I'm not so sure. Clarissa's okay, but she doesn't really have a chance next to me.

Okay, that might sound a bit snobby, but I didn't mean it to be. I'm confident, and I know that guys find me attractive. No point denying it, right? My mum's a beautician, and she gets me all of this amazing beauty treatment. Basically, I look the best out of the girls in our year - it's not boasting, it's just the truth! This gorgeous new guy will be mine.

Tonight there's a party at Lucia's place. I won't have time to do my homework, but who cares? Having fun is more important, and if you can't see that it's your loss. Harsh, but true.

My little brother keeps banging on my door - he wants me to play games with him. Pathetic. I yell at him to go away. Most of the time I can't stand my family.

Time for Lucia's party! I'm ready - my hair is pinned up, looking extra gorgeous, and my heels are ultra-glamorous.

When I arrive, I check out who else is there. And to my delight, the gorgeous new guy is here! I'm going to talk to him, after I've had a drink. Someone hands me a cup and I gulp down the contents. Might have had alcohol in it. My mum would go nuts, but she's not here.

Someone has cranked up the stereo and people have started to dance. Let the party begin!
