Right Here, Right Now

"Then I would take that star and make my wish come true."
My name is Olivia Carsons, and the past week has been pretty crazy for me. I met my favorite boy band, One Direction, I started dating Niall, and, well, too much happened. Even the worst thing, us finding out that my foster mother has cancer, has happened. But there is one thing that I fear. Niall and Louis, my childhood friend, still don't know that I promised to go with them to the Canfield Fair. If this can get any worse, what will happen if they find out? Does Louis have feelings for me? Do I have feelings for both of them? It all depends on what happens at the fair. (Second installment of The Start of Something New trilogy)

16. Olivia's Birthday Surprise

<Niall POV>

Of course, paps had to find us. I didn't know that even the most annoying things in life can find you in places that even you or your friends had never even heard about. And, of course, they had to appear on Olivia's birthday! I'm betting this is not how she wanted to spend becoming an adult. They were asking various questions while I shield my eyes and Olivia tries to shield herself.

"You alright?" I ask her while trying to mute the voices of paps from my ears.

She shakes her head nervously. Paps are crowding us like a flock of pigeons fighting for the last peice of bread on the sidewalk. She's never encountered people crowding her as much as this, knowing that pictures of us will be up in every kind of social network. Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, you name it.

We finally reach my car and the paps took liberty to actually leave us alone when we got in. I pulled out of the parking lot and entered the streets. I look over to Olivia, who was shivering like crazy.

"Don't worry, Liv." I tell her calmly. "It took me a long time to get used to paparazzi and girls crowding me for about 25% of my day."

She was still silent, and then she drifted into a sleep. Perfect. I pull out my phone and hit Liam's contact name.

"Niall, what's going on? It's like 3:30 in the morning. Go back to sleep." He said when he answered my call.

"Li li. I took Liv out for some coffee, and apparently from what her friend said, it's her 18th birthday today. Yes, you're a year and a day older than her. But then we ran into paparazzi." I told him.

"Seriously? Nialler, you know that Jake can possibly see pictures that they took and..."

"Liam! Can I just tell you why I'm calling you at this time?" I interupt him.

"Fine. What is it?" He asks in his sleepy voice.

I sneak a look at Olivia, still sleeping like a little puppy, and get back to the conversation. "So I want to surprise her today. Ya know, for her birthday."

"You want to make her feel special?" Liam asked moaning.

"Yeah." I answer. "But not the special Harry would think of."

"Okay. I'll tell the boys at quarter to whenever. Now let me get some sleep before I kill you, Leprechaun." Liam taunted sleepingly.

"Thanks dude. This is why I called you than the other boys." I told him.

"Oh, speaking of the other boys, I have to tell you something." He replied causing my stomach to jump and my heartbeat to speed up.

"What? What is it? Tell me Liam! Tell me!" I yell. All I heard on the other line was Liam snoring. "Liam! Answer me! Don't leave me..."

"NIALL! WATCH OUT!" Olivia screamed. I look ahead to see a car coming towards us. I curse loudly, tightly grab the wheel and jerk it to the other side, avoiding the car and sudden death. We get back onto the regular road and I'm startled. Olivia is constantly cursing and breathing heavily.

"Oh god! Oh god! Oh god oh god oh god!" I constanly say to myself.

"Let's be glad that we didn't die." She said to me.

"And on your birthday." I add on.

"Niall, can I keep a secret with you?" Liv asked me.

What was it? "Sure." I answer.

"Well...you see..."
