40. The Group

"They are so cute," Jade whispered to me with a quiet giggle and I nodded in agreement. They were extremely good looking. I would not deny that. My eyes scanned them and for some reason, my mind went to Niall. I bit my lip, refraining from thinking about the texts he had sent me and how I had straight up ignored them.

"Is something wrong, Bri? You've been acting weird since last night," Jade asked worriedly. I turned to her, my head snapping as I shook it furiously.

"I'm fine."

No I wasn't. I was far from it. Jade opened her mouth to speak but she had no room to say a word as Lou ran over, ushering me into a dressing room to get me into my dress for the performance. It was a simple tight black dress that hugged my body. It was about mid-thigh and Lou said I looked downright sexy which I just laughed and shoved her off before I headed out

"Briana! Head on up, love!" A crew member called and I gripped my microphone, walking with a few contestants who had to head to the other side of the stage. I wished the best of luck to everyone who wished the same back and we all shared smiles and hugs before heading to our assigned spots. I stood in the middle of the stage behind the closed walls, awaiting Dermot's introduction, the beat, and my voice.

"This is the first time they are performing together," Dermot spoke as Patrick snapped me out of my thoughts. It was like a wakeup call. He gave me a smile and I bumped his hip as we laughed silently and smiled, getting ready for our performance, "So please welcome the X Factor Final 12!"

"Love you," Patrick mouthed. "Love you more," I mouthed back. He gave my hand a squeeze, hidden as the walls began to open and I saw the crowd awaiting us. I saw the judges with smiles waiting to happen. My first heel moved followed by another. The crowd was cheering and as the tune started, it began to quiet down. The dress I was wearing swayed as I walked forward.

I reached the end of the platform as my mouth began to open, "I could stick around and get along with you, hello-oh-oh-ohhh," I smiled as the crowd cheered and I waved sweetly, walking down the few steps and heading towards the end of the stage. With that, I heard Patrick’s voice follow me.

"It doesn't really mean that I'm into you, hello-oh-oh-ohh," He walked up a few feet beside me and we made eye contact, smiling as Nu Vibe began to sing. I swayed to the beat, smiling as I looked out across the crowd and then to the judges. Kelly and Tulisa were dancing in their seats, smiling hugely as well as Gary and Louis who couldn't beat the smiles. We were doing well. Our rehearsing wore off. At one point, Misha, Leigh Anne, and one of the boys from the Risk were doing a little rap thing and it sounded so good.

"I could stick around and get along with you, hello, oh oh ohhh," Frankie sang from beside me and a few steps in front of me.

I placed my hand on his shoulder as I walked forward, "It doesn't really mean that I'm into you," I sang, my eyes scanning him playfully as he grinned flirtatiously at me. I could see his eyes move up from my heels to my face, "Hello, oh oh ohhh."

With that, we all sang in unison and Frankie and I stayed by each other's sides, dancing just slightly as we shared a gaze and smiled. I met Patrick's eyes down the line and he winked at me subtly which made me smile as I waved to the crowd, moving my feet slightly to the beat. As the song finished, we were all in smiles as the crowd burst into applause and the four judges stood up, applauding us.

"Ladies and gentlemen, the X Factor Finalists!" Dermot announced and the crowd got even louder as we all smiled, waving, laughing, dumbfounded by the reaction of our first group performance. I felt an arm wrap around me and snaked my arm around Misha as we laughed, waving to the crowd with our microphones in the air. After that, we headed off stage. Misha and I danced off stage, hopping around and laughing like children.
