31. Firework

"See you later, doll," Jade giggled as I bid her a goodbye as we split up backstage. I headed to the stage as Erik, one of the backstage guys told me Kelly was waiting for me on stage. As soon as I walked out, I smiled seeing Kelly standing there. She turned to me with a huge smile and I hurried over to her, hugging her as she opened her arms out to me.

"Hi Briana. Are you ready?" Kelly questioned. Was I ready for what? To rehearse? Or to perform my song in front of millions of people and live on stage?

"Yeah. I'm excited," I nodded. I was. I truly was. This was a dream come true. I was nervous but I wanted to do this. My entire life, I grew up wanting to be a star. I wanted to perform. I wanted to be on stage and I had that opportunity now and I wasn't going to let it slip from my grip. No. No I wouldn't.

"Good. I know you're going to kill this performance," Kelly reassured and squeezed my shoulder as I nodded, taking the microphone from the guy who ran it over to me. The dancers who I had been rehearsing with all week all sent me smiles and I returned them, waving to the few who I had actually gotten to known. I stood in the middle of the stage, looking out at the all of the empty seats, realizing they were going to be full and a smile made its way onto my face.

"When you're ready, Briana."

I saw all of the other contestants sitting in the first two rows. I had once been in the same exact spot beside Marcus Collins, eyeing the competition but I knew if I was going to win this thing, I had to be confident just like Kelly told me to be. So I gave the microphone a squeeze as the beat of my song began.

Time flew quickly. Before I knew it, I was wearing my dress for my performance, holding a microphone, watching as Kitty Brucknell sang her song. I was performing last. Jade and the girls told me it was because they were saving the best for last but it also made me a bit nervous that I was closing out the show. I was wished the best of luck by my fellow contestants and it was good to know everyone was so genuine around me, that they honestly were wishing me good luck.

"Briana, you're almost up," Dermot told me as he walked up to my side. I smiled at him as best as I could, "Nervous?"

"A bit," I nodded.

"Don't be," He winked at me before walking onto the stage as Kitty wrapped up her performance and the crowd applauded her. The judges began their spiels about Kitty's performance and my grip on my microphone began to tighten, hoping I wouldn't be the worst act of the night. And then he introduced me...

"Alright, closing the show tonight. She has had a long journey but this is her moment. Kelly has the girls so go on and tell us who it is," Dermot nodded off as the crowd cheered. I could picture the camera rolling over to Kelly's face as she sent it a smile, hands clasped together as she went to introduce me.

"The girls are making it so hard for me tonight and she is no excuse for it to be easier. This young lady will blow you away so my goodness, it's the amazingly beautiful, Briana Hill," Kelly introduced. My name. My face on the screen that blew up as the crowd began to cheer. I let out a breath as I nodded. I was ready to perform. I could hear my voice on the screen through arriving at the house, getting my make over, rehearsing, me talking with contestants. I talked about how life changing it was, about my family and how proud they'd be, about how ready I was for my dreams to come true.

I was ushered onto the stage and I stood in the middle, finding my spot as darkness engulfed me. The televisions were still going with my face on it, of my interview and then it went into the little intermission that I had done. Like a little introduction it was where I was posing and laughing. It was hard not to when I had my other contestants behind the cameras trying to get me to laugh. I heard my name and knew my time was coming up. As soon as the lights began to go up, shining into my eyes, I didn't blink once, just looked out at the crowd as I held the microphone, the beat starting slowly.

"Do you ever feel like a plastic bag? Drifing through the wind? Wanting to start again. Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin? Like a house of cards, one blow from caving in. Do you ever feel? Already buried deep. Six feet under screams but no one hears a thing. Do you know that there's still a chance for you, cause there's a spark in you?" I heard the applause when I began to sing and it went away as I continued to sing.

This week’s theme had been Britain v. America. When I decided I wanted to do America, I thought of Katy Perry. She was amazingly talented so I knew I wanted to do her and what better song than Firework?

"You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine. Just own the night, like the Fourth of July," I felt my dress spin around me as I moved around the stage. My dress was gorgeous. It was multicolored and Lou had styled it with a leather coat a pair of high heels. My new sandy brown hair was down in curls, my bangs sweeping across my forehead and my makeup done matchlessly like Lou had said.

"Cause baby, you're a firewooooork," I belted, my arm going in the air as the audience burst into applause, "Come on, show 'em what you're worth," I bounded across the stage, heading to the other side as I smiled at the crowd as they still managed to clap, "Make 'em go ah, ah, ah as you shoot across the sky-y-y," I did the dance moves my instructor had told me to do. I followed the beat with my feet and hands as well as with my voice, "Baby you're a firework. Come on let your colors burst. Make 'em go ah, ah, ah. You're gonna leave them falling do-oh-own," With that, I remembered exactly how my instructor had told me to get the attention to me. I swung my hips in a circle, moving down just a bit. With that, I heard cheers again and wolf-whistles.

As I finished the last note of the song, the audience burst into applause louder than before and I smiled as I pushed my hair out of my eyes. Kelly got up out of her seat, clapping for me as I let out a laugh, smiling in awe that I had just performed in front of millions of people. Not just people here in the arena but to anyone who was watching the show on television. My family. My friends. Liam. The girls. Missy... Niall...

"Briana!" Louis began and chuckled when the crowd almost deafened his voice, "Briana! That was amazing. Just flat out, honestly amazing. I've said it before and I'll never stop saying it. You are talented! You are so very talented and I know you can go so far!" I bit my lip, smiling at him.

"Briana, Briana, sweetheart," Tulisa said as the crowd cheered after Louis finished. She smiled at me, her eyes twinkling under the light, "You are incredible. From the first moment I saw you audition, I was mesmerized by how beautiful your voice was and I'm more mesmerized now than I was before. You are just so incredible. And your performance tonight. Wow. It was like no one even had to tell you what to do. You just knew what you wanted to achieve and went for it. I commend you for that!"

"And let me tell you," Gary pitched in. Tulisa stopped, turning to him. Gary pointed at me, "At the end, that little dance move you did, I mean, I don't know about any of the other guys out there but you definitely have male attention now, sweetheart. You are Hott!!!"

I giggled as the crowd cheered loudly and I was met with wolf-whistles as I blushed lightly, putting my hand to my mouth. Tulisa then continued, "He is right! Briana, you were this little innocent sweetheart when you came to audition and then you go and do that and I'm like woah. You are very, very talented, Briana and I agree with Louis. You are going to go so far."

Then Gary smiled at me as he began to talk, "You were so carefree and energetic for this performance. I saw you having the time of your life up there. You belong on a stage, Briana, plain and simple. When you're performing, you have everyone's attention. It was an absolutely stunning performance and a word to Kelly," He said, turning to her as did everyone else, "I want to see her next Saturday."

With that, the crowd burst into applause and I laughed, biting my lip as I tried to hide the smile that came onto my lips. I said a quick thank you as my attention turned to Kelly who was last to speak.

"You were perfect," Kelly stated simply. I let out a laugh, "You were flawless. Everything about that performance was spot on, Briana. I am so proud of you, let me tell you that. From the moment you auditioned to now, you've already grown as a performer. I love watching you on stage. You have this presence around you like 'Yeah this is my stage'," The crowd all laughed and cheered as did I and Kelly smiled, "The stage is yours. Every time you step on it, it's yours. You are phenomenal Briana, and you are going to get so far both in this competition and in general."

With finishing words, I was asked a few quick questions by Dermot before being led off the stage.

"You did so good out there, Briana!" Jade cheered as soon as I saw her. She ran up to me and hugged me and I returned it. When we let go and I thanked her, I was attacked by three other girls who told me I did excellent as well.

"Thanks guys," I laughed. They all smiled at me, "You did so well too! Leigh, if I could rap like you..."

"I'll teach ya," Leigh Anne winked. We were all ushered towards the exit after being told that there were paparazzi. My first experience with them. It was going to be new but I couldn't deny that excited buzz in my stomach. I stood beside Jade as we walked out side by side. There were screams and people lined up behind the barricade that security had put up. Security was holding people back as they screamed and waved at us, trying to get our attention. Jade and I waved to a few people and smiled but headed to the cars.
