Not Your Typical Cinderella

(One Direction not famous)

When Rose was only 7, her mom passed away. Her dad got remarried to Cheryl three years later. Rose feels it in her heart that Cheryl only loves her dad for his money. She treats her stepdaughter Rose terribly and favors her own daughter, Julia much more. When something tragic happens to her dad on her 17th birthday, Rose is desperate to prove, along with her friends Shannon, Ava, and Griffen, that it was all Cheryl's fault. Little does she know that along the way, she will meet new people, fall in love, and get her heart broken.

17. Run Away

I was finally comfortable, finally safe in Harry’s arms. I could hear him breathing, his chest moving up and down slowly. The warmth from his body and the soothing smell of his cologne  slowly made me doze off.

My heart stopped and my head shot up when I heard somebody downstairs. There was only one person it could be. I shook Harry lightly, then harder and harder. He was a deep sleeper. When I told him that Cheryl was home, his eyes got wide, and he looked at me for guidance. Without talking, I pointed to my closet and he crept over there and hid in the back. The advantage to having a big house was having a big walk in closet-with enough room for a teenage boy to hide in. So I didn’t look suspicious, I flattened out the covers on my bed and sat at my desk, pretending to read something on my phone. I knew that Cheryl would come in soon, to make sure that I didn’t escape. The door flew open, and there was Cheryl.

“Julia and I didn’t find the right cars at the first place, so were going farther away. If I find out you left, there will be consequences,” she said.

“I hate you,” I mumbled under my breath. She grinned at me.

“Why does it smell like cologne in here?” She looked around.

“It’s my perfume. Leave,” I ordered, and she giggled as she closed the door. I waited to hear the sound of her and Julia leaving the house, and then I went over and opened the closet door. Harry was in the corner, under a bunch of clothes, on his phone.

“I’m really sorry you have to deal with that,” he said, sympathetically.

            “Me too.”

Ever since that day at the grocery store, all I could think about was that brunette girl. I knew that I told her I would call her, but I never did. I did that all the time, set up a girl just to break them down. All the boys did, but since Harry found Rose he didn’t do it anymore and same with Shannon and Liam. Niall usually had a story a day about a girl he met, but since he had been seeing Ava he only talked about her. So why could I not stop thinking about this brunette girl? Even though I loved Griffen?

I saw that dick Zayn with another girl while I was working. I wish I could tell her that she was no different than the rest of us, that he would probably just drop her, but then I saw the way Zayn looked at her I knew there was something different.

“We need to get you out of here,” I told her, climbing out of the pile of clothes I was sitting on.

“Cheryl said if she found out I left, she would punish me,” I crossed my arms and looked at him.

“I don’t mean like for a walk, I mean until you’re 18,” he stood up and looked at me.

“You want me to run away?”
