7. Great Night

Ava, Griffen, and I decided to go over to the boy’s flat the night that Rose finally went out with Harry. I realized that I was actually really nervous to see Liam. The last time we hung out was on Friday, and we didn’t even talk that much. We just made out. But for some reason Liam felt different than all the other guys I had hooked up with before. I didn’t know what was going to happen tonight, Liam and I had been texting all weekend but it was going to be really different seeing him in person.

I was really excited about the girls coming over tonight. Zayn and I both had our eyes on Griffen and Ava, but we both wanted to get to know them better before we decided which one we liked. They were both gorgeous and funny, so we just needed to talk to them more.

When we pulled up to the flat, my stomach did a flip flop. Why was I so nervous? I barely even knew these boys. But there was just something about Zayn….

I texted Liam that we were here. Apparently he was the most dependable. After getting Rose dressed up for her date with Harry, we all came back to my house and decided on outfits for ourselves. It took a ton of preparation but I was pretty sure that all three of us looked gorgeous. I just didn’t want it to seem like we were trying too hard to impress these boys.

Liam answered the door and smiled at all three of us. He especially had his eyes on Shannon. He was totally checking her out. We invited ourselves inside and he told us to take off our shoes by the door. Niall and Zayn both looked up from the couch. They were sitting in front of the TV. I didn’t know what Griffen was thinking, but I definitely had my eyes on Niall. I had a thing for guys with Irish accents. “If it’s okay with you guys, we ordered pizza,” he said, and my heart completely melted. Shannon, Griffen and I all said that was fine and went to join the boys on the couch. I sat between Zayn and Niall and Griffen just sat on the other side of Zayn. Shannon and Liam were still by the front door, whispering about something. When I turned around to see why they weren’t joining us, Liam awkwardly told her that they should talk in the kitchen.

Liam said he wanted to talk to me in private, so he took me into the kitchen, which was a mess. I guess that’s what you get when you have five teenagers living together. I sat on one of the kitchen chairs and then just looked up to him. He just sat on the seat across from me and looked me in the eyes. I didn’t really know where this was going.

“What?” I finally broke the silence by saying.

“Where are we going with this?” He asked me.

“With what?” I answered his question with a question, confused.

“Us.” He said, still staring straight at me. I was starting to feel quite uncomfortable.

“Uhh…I don’t know,” was all I could manage. This was so awkward! I didn’t know what to say.

“I just want you to know, I don’t think I’m ready for a relationship yet. My girlfriend of two years, Danielle, who I met at University just broke up with me last week,” he said.

“Okay..? What’s your point Liam?” I was starting to get kind of disappointed. If he didn’t want a relationship, then what did he want?

“I just want to get to know you better. Because I obviously like you,” when he said this, it made me blush.

“Ok,” I answered, unsure of what else I could possibly say. I started to get up and he did too, and before I knew it he was hugging me.

The hardest thing ever for me to do was tell Shannon that I couldn’t have a relationship with her yet. She seemed really upset but I knew I had to do it. It would be really disrespectful to pick up a girl right after Danielle and I’s breakup. When she started to stand up, I couldn’t help but give her a long hug. She just looked so gorgeous with her strawberry hair and black tank top. I lead her back to where the others were and saw the whole couch taken up. Griffen was sitting on one end, laying with her feet on Zayn’s lap. Ava had her feet off the other end of the couch, her head on Niall’s shoulder. They were all laughing about who knows what.

When I saw what was on the TV, I finally understood what they were laughing about. They were watching Stepbrothers! There was no room on the couch for me and Shannon, so we sat on the floor with our backs up against the couch.

“It seems like you guys have gotten close in such a short time,” Shannon said, smiling at Griffen and Ava. They all shrugged and just continued watching the movie.

I was sitting there next to Liam. It had been about 10 minutes since Liam and I joined, and he still hadn’t made a move. It was starting to get weird to just be sitting next to him without him doing anything! Everyone was laughing literally every five seconds, but I couldn’t manage to laugh. All I could think about was how Liam didn’t want to be with me. He probably still had feelings for Danielle, and they went out for two years. I could never replace her.

Soon, I felt Liam casually put his arm around my shoulder. He kept looking straight at the TV, trying to make it seem like no big deal. To make myself more comfortable, I leaned more into him and lay there all the way until the end of the movie.

Tonight could not have gone any better. The girl I wanted since she first walked into that party seemed like she liked me, which was great. After we all ate pizza and talked some more, it was almost 11 and the girls had to leave. I gave Griffen a tight hug and a kiss on the cheek and told her to text me.

I was so happy that Ava was so comfortable around me. I always hated it when girls were afraid to make a move. But Ava was different, she was confident. And I was sad when she had to leave, I had so much fun being with her all night. I told her that we needed to get together again soon, and she agreed. I hoped that Harry’s night went as good as ours.
