Make A Wish

Madeleine and Abby are best friends who have gone through the best and the worst together. Abby had already found the one, but Madeleine was still searching via blind dates. When Abby picks out ONE MORE date, she finally falls in love with Harry Styles. Through heartbreak, tears, and coming back stronger than ever, the girls realize love takes fighting, even when the boy of your dreams is already yours. On Madeleine's 18th birthday, she only has one wish- but is what she wants really what she needs?

4. Mochi!

In the darkness of the theater, my head was resting on Harry's chest, and I didn't even bother covering my eyes when someone got chopped to little pieces and thrown out the boathouse window. I kind of just relaxing there, and everything was absolutely perfect. I was so relieved I was done with everything. Done with eHarmony, done with dealing with these jerks who just wanted a girlfriend, done with dating. Boy, was I happy to be done with dating! Now that I had found someone I actually wanted to be with, it was like the weight of the world had been lifted off my shoulders. I was done searching for someone who was right for me. I'd already found him. It was like while I was on those 34 dates, I wasn't really dating. It was like all of middle school. I was just kind of.... There. I didn't react; didn't smile, just.... Existed. I guess sometimes "just existing" isn't enough if you really want something from your life. That first date with Harry, I didn't feel like I was just standing in the background. I was not only there. But I was living. I was finally feeling something again, and I loved it. I loved that I could finally breathe around a boy. I loved that I was in love. That was what I'd been looking for, and if I'd known I'd find it in Abby's advice, I would've asked for it 34 dates ago. When the movie got out, we all stood outside for a moment, not sure what to do or where to go next. "That part when the axe just flew across the room into Vanessa's head," Niall mused. "That was the best part!" Abby said. "Um... I'm hungry." she added. Niall's eyes lit up in agreement. "Hey, what about Sweet Spoons?" I volunteered. "Done and done," Abby said. We walked to the self-serve frozen yogurt place. I was almost deaf after all the screaming in Axe Murders 4. "Hey," Harry said, grabbing my hand while Abby and Niall walked ahead. "Um, can I ask you something?" he said. "Um, okay," I said. "Well, the last girlfriend I had cheated on me, and I... was heartbroken. So, if we want to take this relationship further, can you promise me you won't cheat on me?" I looked at him, thinking he was joking. Cheat? On... Harry? Wow, that girl had very, very little brains. "Only if you can promise the same," I said, biting my lip a little bit (I'd practiced this MILLIONS of times in the mirror at home, and during the movie). "I promise," he said. I knew that he meant it. He took my hand and we continued walking towards Sweet Spoons. Abby and Niall were waiting outside. "Fi-nah-lee," Abby said, opening the door and holding it for everyone. "So, how does this work?" Niall asked, eager to start eating. "Well," I said. "You take a cup," I demonstrated. "Fill it with whatever flavor of yogurt you want," I filled it with strawberry. "Then add your toppings. Easy," Abby got chocolate with all the candy and fruit toppings she could fit on top. "Do you dare me to eat the mochi?" she asked. At Sweet Spoons, they have these squishy cubes that came in assorted pastel colors. Once when we were fourteen, Abby dared me to eat some. It was like soggy cardboard. That was exactly what it tasted like. It was basically tofu, but gooey and mushy when you put it in your mouth. "No," I said. "But let's let them eat it," I said, giggling. We were such pranksters when we were 13. You'd never believe it looking at me now, or even when I was 17. It was mega cold outside, being December 23, and I was freezing even inside (maybe it was the fact I was eating FROZEN yogurt). Why I had worn a summer dress... I don't know. "Hey Niall," Abby said. "You've got to try this. It's called mochi. It's amazing," Niall put three spoonfuls on his fro yo, and Harry put a generous whole spoonful which was probably about two. "Okay, now you have to eat a lot at once," I said. Harry and Niall filled up their spoons with mochi. "I can't believe they're doing it," I whispered. "Film this," she whispered back, and I took out my iPhone and started filming. "One, two," I said slowly. "THREE!" They shoved the mochi into their mouths. Harry started chewing, but then he looked like he drank a carton of sour milk... Or watch someone else drink a garbage smoothie. Niall just looked extremely disappointed. Abby was laughing hysterically, and I was trying not to drop the phone I was laughing so hard. She started to cry she was laughing so hard! Harry swallowed the last of his mochi and smiled at me. I was still laughing. Abby was practically rolling on the floor. Niall stood next to her tried to stand her up strait, which made her crumple all the way onto the floor. She was now gasping for breath between laughs. When she finally stood up strait, she was heaving and trying to catch her breath. "You okay?" Niall asked. She responded with a giggle. I stopped filming. We finished our yogurt and I glanced at the screen. "99 percent," I said. "99 percent what?" Abby and Niall asked at the same time. Yes, they were THAT couple. "Yay! It's done," I said. "What is it?" Harry asked. "The video just finished uploading to YouTube," I said. "What?" Abby said. "What video? The mochi video? Nuh uh. Oh my God. She did!" She was laughing again. I sighed and we walked out of Sweet Spoons. "Harry, would you like to come over to our apartment tomorrow night?" I asked. "Yeah," Abby said. "We'll have a little party. A Christmas Eve party," "Sorry, love," Harry said to me. "It's Lou's birthday tomorrow," "Well, you can bring him and all the boys," Abby offered. "I'm okay with that," Niall said. "But you'll have to ask Louis. It is his birthday, after all," I said. I was excited to spend Christmas Eve with the boys. Maybe, just maybe, Abby would be nice and hang some mistletoe somewhere.
