Will love be found? Or will the Zombie Apocalypse make it all crash and burn?

1. Should I Risk It?

I kneeled by my mother, my father and brother were already dead, I knew I only had a few days before they turned into the horrible creatures that were now roaming Los Angeles.

"mom" I whispered looking at her frail body.

She looked up at me and gave me a small smile. "listen, I know I'm going soon and I need you to promise me one thing," I let the tears flow but nodded. "don't give up, ok, don't ever give up, help others if you see them, I don't expect you to be with me anytime soon, go...theirs this place, by the Atlantic ocean, its secluded and most are making their way there, go their ok, go and live, please," she stopped and said "here" she gave me a box of matches. "you know what to do"

I shook my head "no mom, I ca-can't do that" I said.

"no, do it I'm not coming back as one of them, do it, Nicole," she said her voice growing fainter. "go, Nikki go and live and never give up" I held onto her tightly she gave me one final squeeze then her hand grew lifeless.

I got up and gave her a quick kiss, I grabbed my bag and started to make my way out. Then I heard a noise. I continued to make my way, I saw something stumble towards me, but I ran, I heard moaning then a dripping sound. Something made to grab me, but I was small and could easily move. I made my way out, I looked back and I looked at the dark, windows of the place I used to call home for the past 17 years of my life. I noticed movement then cold, black lifeless eyes I could see through the little light that the sun had. Those cold eyes that have been showing up more and more, all around. I lit up a match, the eyes flickered toward the light, it started to move towards me. I threw the match at my house, knowing my mom wanted this. And I screamed out "go to hell" at the cold, dark creature. It was still at the window, but then the house started to catch on fire. I looked until I saw that one room and the zombie fall into the fire. I turned around and walked away, away from the house, and I never looked back.

I had been walking the dark streets of LA for a few hours, I needed to find a car, but the chances of that were like 1 to a million. So far, I was lucky I hadn't seen any of those "Zombies" I was just passing by the sign that had once read "welcome to Los Angeles" at one point in time before all this impossible stuff happened it had once been bright a hung in pride. Now it was unhinged, black from the time we had tried to fight back, it was black and just read "welcome Angels" I laughed at the stupidness of it. I heard a rustling behind me, my hands went to my bag where I got out a gun, I turned around, I saw that there wasn't one but 2 of them. "get her" one of them said in their cold, dead voice. The other one lunged for me, but I was prepared before my father had gone he had showed me self-defense. I kicked the thing straight in the face. The head rolled off. I shot at it 4 times, straight at the brain. The other one lunged for my neck, I ducked down. It came at me again I punched it straight in the chest, it punctured through and nothing came out, absolutely nothing. It was on the floor, I neared it. It's eyes turned towards me. I kicked it, and it stopped moving then I shot it straight at its filthy brain.

I quickly got up and I found my way to the highway. It was deserted of life, but there were so many cars, from where they have been abandoned from when their drivers had tried to escape from this hellhole but couldn't. I moved in quietness, as far as I knew it was deserted, the-the things don't like deserted things they go where people are to satisfy their hunger. I saw this SUV it was huge, I peeked in the keys were still there, but with no driver. I tried to open the door, but it was locked. I fumbled with it, but no sooner had I gotten the door open that a hand fell onto my shoulder.

A cold hand, I shuddered at its touch. "give up" its voice cackled. I turned around and saw there were 20 of them, where the hell did they come from? They all advance toward me. The one that had my shoulder opened it mouth as if it was going to bite me. I thought back. "never" I whispered and I pushed him away and it fell towards where the other ones were. They quickly advanced towards me, I opened the door. They were 5 feet away, I pulled out a match. I shut the door and lit up the match I pulled down the window and they were all just a few feet away bunged up together. "no you give up" I shouted and I threw the match. Their eyes went up to the light in awe, stupid idiots and then they caught on fire. I turned the key in the ignition. It wouldn't work. "crap" I mumbled. I tried again and again. I heard movement, I looked up there were now more and they were closer. I started to panic. I tried one more time, and I heard the car come to life. I checked the tank it was full. The car roared to life, and I gunned it for all it had.

There were more in front of me. They scared the hell outta me, but I wasn't going to let them get me. I ran over them and bodies flew out everywhere, I would have felt bad, but they were already dead, they weren't even supposed to exist. The sun was just making its appearance. I looked back, there were less, they didn't come out during the day, only at night, I looked back and there weren't many all I could see were a few of them and just smoke. I smiled in satisfaction some down, but billions to go. I maneuvered my way throughout the highway. Less and fewer cars appeared. Still there were too many for me to go really fast. I looked for a road that was deserted. I found one it looked like it hadn't been used much. So I went that way, as soon as none appeared I went up to 100 mph. The faster I went the sooner I could get out.

The sun was in full high, I had slowed down, no use to waste the whole thing while none were out. I went into only 30 mph. It was hot, and I was starving, but I had forgotten all the bloody food. I looked toward the back of the car and sighed in happiness. There were so many bags with food, looks like the driver was prepared for what had taken place in just one week. The disease, the sickness that got rid of 5 billion people young and old, girl or guy in just 2 days. Then the uprising as they all came back just 2 days after. Some had thought we were, safe. Some had thought the complete opposite, this person was one of those few that thought we weren't. I sped down this lonesome highway. Then I saw a huge red like thing in the distance, I grew wary, expecting the worse. As I got closer, I saw that it was a bus, but the name was covered in dust all I could make out was "One". I stopped the car, maybe it had some supplies.

But, should I go in there? Should I risk it?
