4. Surviving the Opening Ceremony

~ Bri's P.O.V. ~

Fushia lead us to a huge room separated by curtains. I was lead to one end and Niall to the other. First they placed me in a bath tub sort of thing. I was stripped and scrubbed down by one of Fushia's 'Helpers'. She had pink hair and piercings all over her face. She scrubbed me until it felt like I couldn't get any cleaner. Then I was clothed in a thin cover up and pushed to the next station.

Here a guy with a purple quiff and tattooed arms waxed my legs making my legs feel raw. When he finished he just left not pushing me to a new place. A new person came up to me and started waxing my eye brows. She had short orange hair and a lot of makeup on. I flinched as she started plucking at my eyes brows. When she was done it felt like my eye brows were gone. I felt my head to see if they were still there. They were but a lot thinner.

It seemed as if they were finally done with me when they put lead me into an empty room. Fushia met me in there and talked with me. "Since your district is known for animals, I was thinking you and Niall should be a strong and beautiful animal, to represent your district." She told me. Great, what stupid animal was she going to dress me up as?

*later that day*

Me and Niall stood waiting for the chariot that would take us to the opening ceremony. Everything seemed to be rushed. Were all the other games as fast as this? I mean we had only just got here a few hours ago and we were already heading to the opening ceremony.I looked at Niall and how wonderful his costume looked.  We were mimicking the gorgeous animal of the cheetah. With their blonde/brown fur and black spots.

Our faces were painted to replicate the brilliant cat. My hair was in such a way to where my silhouette looked like a cats shadow and my nails were perfectly painted like sharp claws. I wore a short cheetah print dress that was long and flowy in the back. With leggings with paw prints going up the leg. I wore tall platform shoes to match the height of Niall. I was really short and Fushia thought it was necessary to wear them.

Me and Niall, dressed in the warm furs, looked at each other in approval. I looked down at my outfit and straightened out my dress, not sure of what to think. It was a little overwhelming to be so dressed up.

"You look amazing." Niall whispered in my ear. I blushed.

"Thanks, you look handsome yourself." I replied smiling.

Just they way she complemented me reminded me of Harry. I don't know how, it just did. Maybe it was the charm behind her voice. I've found myself thinking of the lads more and more lately. I knew England was also defeated and became District 15, but I had no idea if any of them were alive or not. I hoped they were safe. Where ever they were.

~ Harry's P.O.V. ~

Me, Zayn, and Liam had watched in horror as Lila read Louis' name. We had already lost Niall 6 months ago now Louis. We had no idea if Louis would win or not but we knew he would try his best. He wouldn't go down easy. He never did. That was for sure.

We watched as Louis stood on the stage trying to stay confident. By his side was the girl tribute, Cynda. I knew she was from Ireland and had happened to be in England when we were defeated and taken by the Capitol. She had no family here because they all lived in District 14 with the rest of Ireland.

I wondered if Niall was alive or not. I was lucky to have Liam and Zayn by my side and know that Louis was alive- for now. It was devastating not knowing if Niall was okay or not.

Louis was pushed of stage and into the town hall. Lila asked for Louis and Cynda's friends and family to stay behind. Me, Liam, and Zayn stayed with Louis' family and waited as the rest of the people rushed out of the time square to get back to their homes. It was sad to think that Cynda had no family to visit her before she left. Hopefully she had plenty of friends.

~ Louis' P.O.V. ~

This wasn't good. My name had been called by Lila and now I was going to be taken away by the Capitol. When they shoved me into the empty room and closed the door behind me I started pounding on the door. I jumped away from the door when it opened and saw my little sister, Georgia and my mom and dad.

I hugged her. I wanted to be able to protect her even when I was away in the Capitol. My dad walked over and hugged us both tight. "You'll be okay, Louis." "You'll win these games."

I smiled at him. "Of course I will." I replied. "I can promise you I will be back." I told Georgia.

I let go and kissed her on the forehead before I said good bye to my mom. Before I could say anything more, the peacekeepers took them away and I sat in silence. The door opened again and I saw Harry's curls first. Then Zayn and Liam stepped in after him. I ran over to them. We all hugged each other in a group hug. It wasn't the same without Niall though.

"Take care of my sister." I told Harry.

"Of course." He replied with a tear running down his face.

"Louis, your going to win right?" Liam asked.

"Of course he's going to win!" Zayn answered for me. I smiled slightly. I was going to miss them.

"Louis, can you do one thing for me, when your in the capital?" Harry asked me.

"Yeah, what is it?" I asked with curiosity. What was in the capital that Harry need to know about?

"Meet the District 14 tributes. Ask them if they know Niall. Ask if he is even alive." Harry said tears running down his face.

"Yes, Harry, Of course." I nodded starting to cry myself. I looked at Liam and Zayn and they were doing the same. Before I knew it they were also taken out of the room and the door slammed behind them.

~ Later that day ~

Me and Cynda had boarded the train awhile ago and we were bored. I knew that the District 14 and 12 tributes were also on this train. Katniss and Peeta had told us. I wanted to go see the District 14 tributes, but they wouldn't let me. "The first time you see your opponents is in the arena." Katniss had said. That wasn't what I was told when we were first made a district. We would met our opponents at the opening ceremony and the three day training session.

When we were getting of the train District 14 went before us. I looked out the window to even get a peak at the tributes. All I saw was the back of their heads. The girl tribute was a brunette and the boy had blonde/brown hair. Could it be Niall? No, most likely not. But there was still a possibility. I shook it off as we were led into the building.

"Hi there!" I will be your dresser! I'm Ivy." A tall woman in a lot of green introduced her self. Well this was going to be great. A wacko was my dresser. 'Weren't all Capitol people wackos?' I asked myself. The answer was 'Yup.'

~ Even later that day ~

Our element was snow. Pretty lame if you ask me. But my district had a lot of snow. Even in the summer, so my costume looked completely ridiculous. My hair was put in a style a lot like Zayn would wear when we still lived in England, except it had white and sparkly flecks in it. Making it look like I was in the snow. Then I had on a white/silvery suit of some sort that made me look like a silver Iron-man. There was some sort of swirly accessory around my arms making it hard to move them too.

Cynda on the other hand looked a lot better. She had a wintery bluish dress that as long and flowy. It had fluffy fur at the bottom and top. Her hair was in a fancy up-do. She had blue and silvery based makeup and it looked half decent on her. I on the other hand looked like an overly gay dude that looked like Jack Frost.

We stood there waiting for the chariot in an awkward silence. Cynda seemed very shy. She seemed a little worried. "Is everything ok?" I asked her.

"Yeah, I umm, was just thinking." She replied slowly.

"What about." I asked.

"To tell you the truth Ireland." She said shyly.

O yeah, i had forgotten she was from Ireland. She must miss her friends and family. "Do you want to see the District 14 tributes?" I ask.

"Really badly." She replied this time not as shy.

"So do I. One of my best mates was from Ireland. I hope he's still alive." I said.

"I hope my best friend isn't one of the tributes. I hope she is safe in her district." Cynda whispered.

The chariot pulled up then and got on, heading to the opening ceremony. Once we were outside the gates. We waited for the other districts to go through. It took quite a while because we were the last district and every district had to be far enough away so that we couldn't see each other. When it was finally our turn the horses connected to our chariot moved forward and we heard capitol people screaming their heads off. It was loud as we went through the gate. Tons of people were  screaming and cheering.

As they saw us they would nod theirs heads in approval or talk to the people next to them. When we reached the end of the street there was a huge opening where our chariot stopped. I could still see the other carriages, but they were to far away to see the tributes inside. I watched as President Snow made his way to the end of the balcony.

"This is a very special year for the Hunger Games, for we have two new districts to celebrate it with us!" His voice echoed through the audience and making me shiver. "It looks like we have a fine group of tributes this year and I wish you all good luck! Happy Hunger Games! and may the odds be ever in your faver!" He announced before sitting back down. The chariots slowly started to move away and we all separated back down to the gates.

"How can he wish us a Happy Hunger Games when all but one of us is going to die?" Cynda asked furious.

I sighed. "I don't know. To them it's all a game." I replied.

"Americans are weird. There are entertained by watching people kill each other. It's disgusting." She said still angry.

It's not all Americans. It's the Capitol" I replied.
