4. Niall and Natalie- The New Girl

The strange hallways. The weird smell. The loud noise. This was high school; and of course I was the new girl. After my dad got a new job in London, our family moved and I was forced to leave my best friends and familiar surroundings. I clutched my shiny new math textbook to my chest and made my way down the bustling corridor. I felt self-conscious and I knew that everyone was looking at me. Was it that obvious? I reached the far end and was about to turn the corner before I was shoved violently to my right. "Oops, someone should watch where they're going." I stumbled and let my book drop to the ground but luckily didn't fall over. I looked the snobby girl straight in the eye. "Wouldn't want to get hurt now would we?" She gave me an evil grin before stalking off. Sighing, I looked around for my first class.

"Hey, sorry about her." I turned around to see someone bending over in front of me. "Here." When he stood up I couldn't help but stare at his intense blue eyes. He handed me my textbook.

"You must be new," he smiled, "I'm Niall. She picks on everyone, ignore her." I couldn't help but let out a small smile myself.

"I'm Natalie. Call me Natty," I smiled brightly at the cute boy. "Hey you don't have..."

"I'm Irish, I was new last year," he cut me off.

"Well it's nice to meet you, could you help me find my next class?" I said hopefully.

"Yeah, what is it?"

"Math? With Mr. Brookman."

"Hey that's my class. That means we can sit together. Come on I'll show you where it is."

-Lunch Time-

I only had Math with Niall so far today, meaning that I had to endure my other classes alone. Luckily not everyone was as mean as Leslie, which I had learned was the name of the girl who had shoved me earlier. Niall told me to meet him out past the woodshop. I waited quietly, leaning against the wall until I heard shuffling. Niall jogged up to me in a huff.

"Sorry, teacher was holding us in."

"That's okay." Before he said anything else he stared at me. I began to feel self-concious again and could tell that my cheeks were getting red.

"W-why are you staring at me?" I looked at the ground trying t hid my embarassment. He just laughed, obviously finding it amusing that I was acting shy.

"You are just really cute Natty." Where did that come from?

"Oh... Thank you." I smiled lightly, the blush still plastered on my face. I watched the ground until I felt his hand lightly pull my chin to face him. I found myself staring at his blue orbs. Before I knew what was happening he was leaning in. He was glancing at my lips and then back up to my eyes. I could not believe this was happening to me, and on the first day of school. I felt I had no choice but to lean the rest of the way as our lips connected and I felt sparks flying everywhere. They were so soft, nothing could have ruined that moment. When he finally pulled away with a large grin on his face, I knew that this school year wasn't going to be as bad as I thought. We stood there for a moment in science, just thinking until I spoke up.

“Yeah,” There was another pause."So, Nando's for lunch?"
