He got along so well with her, they were obviously in love. Their parents thought they would get married when they grew older. When they became the age of 15, he needed new friends. She became lost, sad, and she didn't think of him again. She was never a popular kind of girl. She never had a lot of friends. She never was very pretty. Her life turned complete upside down. Until he walked back in it.

2. Chapter One

The air was cool, the wind was crisp. Leaves were just starting to shed from their branches, creating a thin layer over the frosted grass. The sun was brightly shining through the dull gray mist that had spread through the trees and sky. I pulled my light jean jacket and brown boots on, which matched my jeans and blouse. ( I had a wardrobe of my outgoing, gorgeous older sister's clothes..and I couldn't do anything about it. It didn't fit my sense of style, or personality.Whatever though, it's all I had. I carefully grabbed my bag off the table near the door and walked out of the house to the driveway.

The gust of air hit me at once, making my long brown hair blow in the wind. I sighed and got in my car. Running over the list of supplies I needed for school today, I turned the ignition on and pulled out of the driveway. The area looked beautiful this morning, sunlight hitting drops of dew making the grass sparkle. I turned on the radio and hummed along to my favorite song that happened to be on at the moment, "Kiss Me - by Ed Sheeran." I drove past a long trail that lead to a huge willow tree near the school. Niall and I used to go there after school when we were younger, and the feeling I got in my chest was killing me.

I ignored it and pulled into parking lot 234, right next to Madeline Karrington's car. Madeline was the meanest, richest girl in school wouldn't stop at anything to prove it to you. Plus, she had Niall. I parked the car and turned it off, opening the door. Madeline was sitting in the front of the car with Niall. Groaning, I grabbed my brown bag. I slammed the door shut with my foot and walked to the front door. I felt eyes on me and I knew they were Madeline's. Cool, like I care. On my way through the parking lot, I saw my only friend in the school. Anthony. He was my gay best friend. Every girl wants a gay best friend, I whispered to myself while smiling.

"Hey Lizzie." He smiled at me and hugged me.

I giggled, "Ant! I missed you! How was your day yesterday?" He linked arms with me while throwing his bag over his shoulder.

"It was terrible. The season finale for Degrassi didn't come on until like 12:00 in the morning. I was like stupid Canadians, like who does that? Oh my god." I laughed and shrugged my shoulders gently, bumping him while doing so.

"Who knows?" I said in my fake American accent which was getting quite good. He chuckled and we walked into the crazy zoo we called high school. The underclassman cleared a path for the two seniors coming through. I smiled and waved to the people I knew. Anthony and I walked over to our lockers, which were full floor to ceiling. It was so much better than freshman year. My locker was in the best spot, last row near the wall. And guess who's locker is next to mine? Ha, right. Niall Horan's. Lucky right? Wrong. His friends all crowd around the lockers, and it annoys me so much. Anthony left to go see his boyfriend Chad, and I was all alone to face the beasts called 'boys'. I walked over to my locker and I was suddenly surrounded.

"Aye girl, what's your name?", "Never seen her around," and "Wow, look at her ass in those jeans."'s were rippled throughout the group. I rolled my eyes and concentrated on my lock. 27,05,13. It clicked and I gladly yanked it open, getting the nessicary books I needed for my first three periods. I closed the green locker and walked to find Anthony, but he was no where in sight. God, alone again! I sighed under my breath and walked to my first period, history. The bell rang throughout the school and I arrived way before everyone else.

People started trickling in slowly, and Niall and Madeline, of course she was here, were last. Since Niall and my last name were so close to each other, we sat next to each other in almost everything we did. Of course we didn't choose too.

"Hey!" I was shocked to see the Irish blonde boy standing in front of me, blue eyes in the shape of crescents as he smiled at me. I turned around thinking he was talking to someone behind me, but no.

"Oh..umm. Hi." he sat down at the desk next to me.

"It's Lizzie, right?" he winked and I nodded, dumbfounded. He then got a serious look on his face and whispered, "I didn't forget." Was I wrong? Did he actually remember everything we did, all the fun sleepovers we had, the exciting midnight Skype sessions. Was I just making that up in my head?

"O-oh." I struggled to find the right words through mild confusion. I didn't even notice the teacher had walked in, taking me from my daze. I heard a loud, flirtatious laugh from the back of the room and I knew it was Madeline. Niall looked back to see her touching a guy named John's leg. I rolled my eyes and cursed under my breath, maybe a bit to loud. Niall turned and looked at me, eyes wide and crooked smile on his face.

"Did you say what I think you said?" he chuckled and shades of pink appeared on my face.

"Yeah, well it was nessicary at the time." I smiled and he mumbled okays to me while small giggles escaped his lips. The bell rang and the teacher started the lesson, boring me to death.I couldn't stop thinking why Niall was talking to me. But I wasn't complaining.
