6. Linner.

Harry took her to Jack's. It was a decent place for burgers, and not too pricey.

Frankly, he could have taken her to a garbage can and Makayla would have been pleased. She was beginning to really like him, although she knew he'd never even slightly feel the same way.

"Okay, so I'll have an angus burger with extra pickles and a coke, and she'll have...?"

"A cheeseburger and a pink lemonade. Please." Makayla finished. The blonde waitress wrote down their orders and smiled at Harry. "If you need anything, you be sure to tell them you want to speak to Shelly. That's me." She said to him, winking. Makayla rolled her eyes and Harry laughed under his breath.

"Does that happen often?" She asked him. "It seems like it would get really old really fast."

Harry laughed out loud now. "Yeah, I suppose it does. But I don't really notice it too often." He looked at Makayla and she blushed. He had a habit of making her do so now.

"So where do you live in the States?" He asked her, holding eye contact. She sipped off her water and replied, "Maryland. Baltimore, Maryland."

"Ah." He replied. Makayla could tell he didn't really know what to say and she giggled. "What?" He asked, clearly a little embarrassed. "Nothing, nothing." She replied, still giggling a little.

Harry shrugged and down his water. Makayla laughed again.

"Your laugh drives me insane." He said to her. She abruptly stopped and blushed like crazy. "Thanks?" She said to him, confused. "Your welcome." He replied to her.

Right on que, Shelley brought their meals out. She clumsily dropped Makayla's plate in front of her and then very carefully placed Harry's in front of him. She stood there while he took his first bite. "Is it okay? I took the liberty to personally inform the chef of your order." Shelley said to Harry, batting her eyelashes. Makayla faked gagged and Harry smiled.

"It's fine, thanks, but judging by the look on her face, her meal is quite the contrary."

Makayla quickly stopped as Shelley spun on her heel to glare at her. "Well I'm just so sorry. Let me get that for you." She said, with just enough sarcasm to pick up. Makayla shrugged, and as she walked away, she said to Harry, "Why did you do that?"

Harry laughed, loudly. "Because. She was annoying me. And clearly you as well."

Makayla smiled. She leaned over and plucked a fry off Harry's plate. "Mine. You lost me my meal." She said playfully. He looked mock offended. "Hey, only temporarily. And no more for you!" He argued as she took another. She laughed and when she reached for a third, he grabbed her hand. "No." He said steadily. Slowly, he placed her hand back down on the table. Keeping his hand on hers, he said, "Repeat after me: I will not steal Harry's fries."

She giggled and said, "I will not steal Harry's fries." Harry took his hand off hers with a satisfied smirk on his face.

Right on que, Shelley brought back her plate and placed it down more coldly than the first time. "Here." She said harshly. Not even bothering to hit on Harry this time, and walked away looking irritated.

Harry and Makayla laughed at her and Makayla poked her burger. "I don't even want to eat this." She said, peeling off the bun to her cheeseburger and reavealing brown, limp lettuce and an excessive amount of mustard. "Ew.." She said, pushing it out in front of her. Harry laughed again.

"Here," He said, scooping up his fries and placing them on her plate. "you can have all my fries, since your burger is so unbearable." She giggled and smiled. "Thank you." She said.

Picking one up Makayla threw it at Harry. Raising his eyebrows, he plucked it off his lap and ate it. Makayla laughed and he joined in after swallowing. Sitting back in her chair, Makayla glanced up at Harry, who was already looking straight into her eyes. She blushed, but held her gaze, and his bit his lip. Makayla sighed, picking up a french fry and eating it.

She wondered if maybe, just maybe, he could someday like her like she liked him.

Probably not.
