5. A Gift, For Sienna?!

Sienna jumped subtly at the loud knock. “I'll get it.” Maddie called. Sienna sat with Harry, him happily chewing down on his ramen.

Another knock echoed through the hallways, only to be interrupted by Maddie. “Delivery for Ms. Sienna Cole?” A middle-aged man in a mail suit said. Sienna's Mom stood awkwardly.

“Oh, um, yes... I'll take it.” Maddie smiled. The mailman smiled, nodded, and placed the package in her hands. Then he went back to his truck, to make his next deliveries. Maddie rotated the box, examining it, before handing it over to Sienna, who'd walked up behind her.

Sienna stood, confused. Who would send her a gift? The school? Her Grandmother? No... Who?

Even Harry was slightly confused. Sienna didn't have a lot of friends, being a wallflower and all. She talked to people here and there, but being socially awkward she didn't have any close friends other then Annie and Harry. So, who would send her a package?

She knew it wouldn't be Annie, and Harry had been with her the whole day... So the only two people as options were cut off the list... Who the hell would send her a package?

Sienna waddled over to the living room, setting the package on the carpet. It was packed neatly, and the handwriting on it was beautiful... She didn't bother reading it though.

Harry walked over to her, interested in what she had. “What's that?” He asked, with his last mouthful of ramen. “I dunno,” Sienna replied.

She didn't bother getting a knife to cut the tape. Just ripped the top off. Inside was a bunch of folded papers, covering something. It looked thin, but long...

Pulling out the paper, Sienna carefully unwrapping it. Harry and Maddie stood behind her curiously. Sienna pulled a porcelain doll out from the paper... Sienna's jaw dropped, her eyes widened when she saw it...

It looked exactly like the doll her father had taken with him when he left her 11 years ago...

Tears pricked her eyes, recalling the fights between his Mum and him. They got so bad... Sienna would cry into her pillow, praying to God it would stop... And when he left... His last words to her... “You'll always be my little princess... I love you, SiSi.”

Tears spilled over her eyes, down her cheeks as she saw the porcelain doll. Maddie was shocked... Sienna's dad hadn't made contact with them ever since he left... No birthdays calls, no calls to check in, nothing. Nada.

He had taken the doll with him, saying it was so Sienna would always stay in his heart...

This doll... It meant nothing to everyone else... To Sienna, it was a flood of painful reminders... She couldn't take it.

Her bottom lip quivered. She didn't bother to stop her sobs. The doll shook as her hands were shaking. Maddie snatched the doll and the box up and ran upstairs.

In the process, a small piece of paper flew out, unnoticed by everyone. It slid As Sienna's mum rushed up the stairs, Sienna popped up, not caring about the searing pain going through her leg. She just ran into Harry's arms.

He had no idea what was going on. But he didn't question in. All he did was let her curl up against his chest, sobbing uncontrollably into his shoulder.

Sienna cried and cried, soaking his shirt. Harry's gentle strokes on her back calmed her down a little bit. But tears still slid down her cheeks. She missed her dad so much.

They sat on the couch, Sienna in Harry's lap still sobbing. He let his cheek sit on top of her head, still rubbing her back. Maddie hadn't come down yet. What was she doing?

Still, they couldn't care less. All they did was sit, Harry's eyes glistened with tears once again, Sienna's running along her face.

When Maddie finally came back down, Sienna had stopped crying. Harry rocked her in his lap though. Maddie smiled softly at the sight. She knew they were bound to get together. They were the perfect couple.

“Um.. are you okay? Si?” Maddie asked. Sienna didn't reply. “Okay... I'm gonna run some errands... I'll be back soon.” She said quietly. Harry looked at her, nodding. Alright, I'll watch over her, is what his eyes read.

Maddie slipped her shoes on grabbed her purse, and shuffled out the door.

It was about a half an hour later when Harry finally spoke up. “Si, what was that about?” He asked, trying to sound as soothing as possible. “My dad... Um... That doll, he took it as a memory of me... I.. always had it in my room... and I prized it, really... It was so important to me when I was little.” She said, her voice cracking severely.

“Oh,” was all he said before they sat silently, Harry still rocking her like before.

Harry left not soon later, and by the time Maddie came home, Sienna was fast asleep.

The note still unread, sat under the couch. And because it was unread, nobody knew the surprise they were in for this weekend.
