12. "Hell Hath No Fury Like a Woman Scorned,"

His voice was exactly as I remembered it; smooth as silk. At first I had found it sweet to the ears, but now it was like dark chocolate; bitter with an edge that I disliked.

My voice was sharper than a well-kept blade, coated with poison. It was rough with a mix of burning anger and unshed tears; a sharp, momentary pain in my heart made me swallow and press my mouth into a hard line. My hands balled into fists, and I clutched at the blanket so tightly that my knuckles began to turn white. I was trembling with the urge to punch him, cuss him out, do something, but I stopped myself. I wouldn't want to get any more injuries, would I?

But then again, I was a tough cookie. I could probably live with another bruise for a while, if it meant I got to see Daniel's head on a stick. I was beginning to feel better as I pictured it, though Daniel's voice quickly snapped me out of my dream-like state.

"Are you alright? I've missed you."

The burning anger seemed to consume me and control my mouth. I had lost total control of the words I was spouting.

My eyes narrowed to angry slits, and the corners of my mouth pulled down in a furious scowl. "Oh, yes, I'm perfectly fine. I've only been, what? Sold, betrayed, raped, abused- no big deal, right?" I raised my chin at his wince. "Oh, and I haven't missed you at all. As a matter of fact, I would very much prefer it if you left and never came back."

Daniel looked somewhat stricken. "Ebony, I can explain-"

"Explain what? Your gambling problem? The fact that you put my life, me, on the line because you had no more money left in your pockets?" My voice was cold, cruel. My expression was stone-hard and dangerous. I knew Daniel currently felt uncomfortable in my presence; I had never acted this way around him, never showed him the full force of my anger and loathing. His eyes slowly widened as he listened to the venom in my voice now. He was probably wondering where I got the damned information, and who had told me. Bastard.

Daniel cringed at my dark look. "Eb, I-"

"No!" I hissed and quickly pulled myself up, ignoring the sharp stab of pain. Leon jumped and pulled his arm from around me, sensing he would have been in danger of me chewing his arm off. "Don't you dare 'Eb' me! You don't have the right to my nickname anymore."

"I wasn't going to let them have you, dammit!" He shouted, taking a step towards the bed. The other three men in the room looked startled at his sudden outburst; they hadn't expected it, due to the way he acted when he first entered the room. "I was going to take you somewhere! I didn't know they were going to steal you away on your fucking birthday!"

For a moment, we simply watched each other. "I just wanted to protect you from them." Her murmured. I could feel my jaw clench and unclench before I spoke.

"Well, you didn't do a very good job, did you?" I muttered coldly, my expression blank and my eyes glacial. "I'm fucking multi-coloured. Black, blue, green, purple, red, whatever other god damn colours can be on a bruise; that's what I've got on me." I laughed, though the sound was harsh, a far cry from the joyous sound it should have been. "You said you wanted to protect me from these guys, the people who only got me because you put me down as spoils for the victor in a fucking game of poker." I watched Daniel wince as I prepared to deliver the final blow. "Which only happened because you chose to do it. It only happened because you thought, 'hey, why don't I put my fucking girlfriend up as a prize, she won't mind at all. She doesn't know that I'm a fucking asshole yet, so when I win, it won't even matter, because she won't fucking know..." A cruel and angry smile tilted the corners of my mouth upwards. "But, that's where you were wrong. You didn't win, and she found out. I mind. Now walk out that fucking door before I get one of these guys to beat you to a pulp, and don't come back."

I watched silently as Daniel took a deep breath, shook his head, and walked out the door, but not before sparing my a glance. I returned it with a malicious glare.

Before I knew it, Daniel was out the door and finally, completely out of my life.

It was completely silent and for a while, nobody moved.

That is, until I heard clapping from my left.

I turned my head, and raise a delicate blonde eyebrow at Hiro. "What?"

"I like this side of you." He murmured, looking me up and down appreciatively. "Where did the mega-bitch come from?"

I grinned at him. "There's only one key thing you need to remember to stay alive," I murmured, looking him in the eye. "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned."

Eek! Short chapter! Please don't hurt me. o.o

Anyway, what did you think of this chapter? Intense, yeah? Or is it just me...

Also, be sure to check out 'The Legend of Clementine'! A good friend of mine is currently writing it, and I already know it's gonna be pretty epic.

It's about this girl who's been raised in the human world all her life. As it turns out, she's actually part dark elf! This really sexy guy finds her and takes her to the kingdom, and this weird school and shiz and it's flipping amazing. I've read all the draft chapters, but so far only the Prologue's up. Be sure to give her feedback!

FallenOne, out.
