Yes, I Like The Way You Smile (Niall Horan Fanfic)

Harmony Taylor is told she has to go to London, England to meet with a modeling agency, after her mom sends in her pictures to them. What will happen the 3 weeks she's staying in London with her best friend? What will happen when she bumps into a certain famous boy band?? And what will happen when her parents want her to come home??? Harmony has a decision to make: Stay in London with the modeling job and stay near her new friends, or go back home to her boring life?

2. Goodbye

I walked into Ellabelle's room and put my purse down beside her bed.  Sitting down on her One Direction duvet, I looked around her room, taking in all of her pictures of the boys on her walls.

"So, what's the plan Tay?" she asked, sitting next to me.

" first I didn't want to go...but basically my mom is making me go to London to meet with a modeling agency because she sent them pictures of me and apparently they're very interested in me.  When she left, my dad told me I could bring you if I wanted to, so I wouldn't be alone."

I stopped talking, letting this all sink in.  She looked at me, urging me to continue.

"So basically, you and I are going to London, we'll be staying at a hotel for a few weeks, and after I meet with the modeling angency people, we have 3 whole weeks to tour London!"

After hearing myself say that sentence, I suddenly realized how fun this actually sounded.  3 whole weeks in London?  Where One Direction currently was?!  HECK YES!

I stayed at El's house a little longer to work out the details with her parents and after getting their permission, I headed home.

As I walked through the door, i dropped my car key on the hook and headed upstairs to put my purse in my room.  I looked at my clock; 12:34 pm.  Wow.  This is what happens when you get up at 6 am on a Saturday.  Now, I have no idea what to do the rest of the day.

Just as I was deciding whether or not I should take a nap, my phone buzzed.  I picked it up, looking at the caller I.D. *Incoming Call: Mom* I really wasn't in the mood to talk to her right now after her attitude this morning, but I answered anyways.

"Hey mom."

"Hey Harmony.  You're dad just called to let me know you're bringing El with you to London?"

"Okay well, I have booked you both a flight to London in 2 days.  It's at 12 pm sharp. Got it?" she snapped.  Well okay than.

"Yeah mom, got it.  Are you gonna be late to dinner?"  My mom had taken to a bad habit of being and hour late to dinner because she needed to stay longer at the office to finish paper work.  I personally didn't get it.  It's not like she doesn't have her own office here at home she could do it in.  She probably did it to get away from us.  Wouldn't surprise me.

"No honey, I'll be home on time tonight.  I'll give you you're tickets to London then.  Bye."  She hung up without waiting for me to answer.

"Bye," I whispered into the phone.  I locked my cell then threw it down on my bed.  I don't understand why my mom has been so distant lately.  It's like she doesn't want to be a part of this family anymore.

I walked downstairs, trying to think of what to eat for lunch.  I browsed through the cabinets and fridge, and couldn't find anything that interested me.  My mind started to wander to One Direction and then I has a brilliant idea pop into my head.  I'll go to Nando's!  There is only one in the whole United States and I'm lucky enough to live in the city that has it.

I really didn't feel like going alone, so I went back upstairs to scroll through my contacts, looking for someone to go with.  El had said she was going out to lunch with her boyfriend, Austin, so she was busy.  I scrolled through and stopped on my good friend Logan.  I haven't seen her in a while.  I hit call and put my cell up to my ear.

It rang and rang, and right when it was about to go to voicemail, I heard her answer, breathless.

"Hey Logan, it's Harmony.  Fancy going out to Nando's for some lunch?"

"Sure!  Oh gosh I haven't seen you in ages! I'll meet you there in 15!"  She hung up.

What was with people and hanging up without waiting for an answer?  I shrugged it off, going to grab my purse.  I poked my head into my dads room and let him know where I was going.  I ran downstairs, got my keys, and I was off to the best restaurant in the world.

17 minutes later and I was seated in a booth with Logan, trying to decide what to order.  When the waiter came over, I ordered my favorite, the famous Peri Peri Chicken, and Logan ordered Seafood Stir fry.  Our food got there in about 15 minutes and we hurried and ate.

I offered to drive Logan home since she had taken a cab.  On the way to her house, I started spilling everything about London and how at first I didn't want to go, and that I'm okay with it now.  Logan stared at me in shock. "What?" I asked.

"It's just...You're going to model for one of Europe's most successful modeling agencies...and you were going to turn it down?"  She stared at me wide-eyed.

"Honestly, yes.  It just doesn't sound appealing to walk around no a catwalk pretending to be sexy.  I don't know.  Maybe I'll like it once I'm actually doing it and have a super hot boyfriend" I teased, winking.

"Ha ha you're so funny Harmony," Logan said, rolling her eyes and sticking her tongue out at me.

We had arrived at her house.  She opened the door, getting out, and we said our goodbyes, and then I was on my way home.  As I was taking the familiar turn to go down my street, I suddenly had a good feeling about going to London.  It felt right.

Later that night, after mom got home from work, we sat down at the table to ear dinner.  An awkward silence filled the room.  As I tried swallowing my spaghetti, my mom slid something to me from across the table.

"You're tickets," she stated. "Get packed as soon as you can and go stay at El's until your flight in a couple days or something."

I narrowed my eyes at her.  Why was she trying to get rid of me?  I was her only daughter.  Did she really not like me that much?  I'd had enough.  I stood up, shoving my chair back in the process, resulting in it crashing over behind me.

"And just why should I do that?  This is my house too!!"  She looked up at me, shocked.  I was never one for outbursts like that.

"Excuse me?" she choked out.

"You. Heard. Me.  I didn't even want to go in the first place.  But now your attitude is making me wish I had a flight out of here tonight!"  I screamed in her face.  What was happening?  I was always the perfect, respectful daughter everyone wishes they had.

My dad stood up, putting a hand on my shoulder.  He spoke to my mom as I continued to glare at her.

"Sarah, I think it's reasonable if Harmony wants to stay in her own house before she goes to London and possibly moves there..."  My mother looked away from me to speak to him.

"She might as well get used to being away from home now, Brian!  What's the difference if she leaves now or in two days?!"

I stared back and forth between my parents.  My dad was glaring at my mom about to open his mouth to fire back a comment on what the difference is but I stopped him.

"No, dad.  Don't even bother," I directed my next sentence at my mother. "You'll see the difference it makes.  Just wait.  But don't come crying to me begging me to come home when I'm on the other side of the world having the time of my life in London."

With that, I stomped away up the stairs and into my bedroom, starting to pack my bags.  I called El and put her on speaker so I could talk while I was packing.

"This is Ella."

"Hey El, I'll be over in 20 minutes.  I'm staying at your place until our flight leaves on Monday.  Bye."

I felt bad for hanging up on her, but people have been doing it to me so much that I guess I just wanted to try it or something.  I don't know.  I'm definitely acting different.

I threw all my clothes into my huge suitcase, and then went into my bathroom to pack my make-up.

12 minutes later, I was done.  New record?  I think yes.

I put my suitcases into my car, and went back inside to say goodbye to my parents.  Maybe not so much my mom.

I went into the kitchen where my dad was cleaning up from dinner.  "Bye daddy, I'll miss you," I said, pulling him into a hug.  He hugged me back.  I really would miss him.  We pulled away from the hug and I turned around to see my mom standing in the doorway.  She could've been Kristen Stewert's twin for all the emotion she showed.  I quickly walked up to her, pulled her into a 2 second hugged, walked to the front door, and I was gone.
