“When did they get back?’ Danielle whispers to her.

“Last week.” The girls were crowded around the table surveying Sammy and his new bride.

“She seems nice enough.” Emma says.

“I love her,” she says. In the time that she’s known Sallie, she’s become like a daughter to Dani. Sure, there were painful memories of the daughter she could’ve had, but never did. There had always been this longing inside of her, wishing she could’ve held her baby girl at least once.

“Mom?” someone asks and all of there heads turn. They see Sallie walking towards them.

“I know, it’s usually a tradition for the boys, but I begged Dad to let me give this to you this year,” she says pulling out a little box. “I hope that’s okay.”

“Of course it’s okay.” she says accepting the box, “I couldn’t have asked for anything better.”
