Rejection

I’ve been living in this box for all my life. Being quiet and shy. Never talking to my mom. People taking so much pity on me. I just want them out of my life. Even my mom… Especially my mom.
Kassie has been going through hardships ans she realizes she no longer wants to be the geek, the person everyone takes pity on, the creepy girl who cuts herself, ugly. And from that decision, everything changes...

Wow. I feel kind of weird so many people are looking at me when I enter the math classroom. I see David, but there are already people sitting beside him. He looks at me, embarrassed for a reason I can’t figure out. I decide to take a seat at the back row and stay quiet, but I remember my goal for the year (laid-back, sassy, careless and a little rebellious) so I go up to the first row, move my chair back, sit down, and put my feet on the table.

The math teacher, Mr. Martins, hesitates and I laugh out loud “Are you going to tell me to take my feet off the table?”. He ignores me and begins with the lesson. Through all my classes I do the same, but I can’t help taking notes. I’m a nerd.

This school day was long. I turned in my English assignment and Mrs. Ruslandos read it to the class. Right now I’m heading home, but one of David’s popular friends stops me and invites me to a party tonight at 9:00 pm. “I really hope you can come” he says smirking. I hesitate “I don’t think I can. I have homework and 9:00 pm is a little late.”  “Well, that’s too bad,” he says. He pulls me close and touches my face, “I was really looking forward to dancing with you.” I know he was just trying to get me drunk, but I had to give in. Anyway, it will match the new me. “I’ll be there.” I say.
