The Only Exception

It's Zayn Malik before One Direction. Zayn and Lucy develop a relationship despite their popularity statuses. They love each other, but is it worth losing friends and family? Will their struggle to cope with outside forces end up in vain or will they have the happily ever after?

13. Give Me Love

Zayn's P.O.V.

Someone knocked on the door, and I nearly had a heart attack.

“Chill dude, it’s probably Lucy,” Mike teased. I watched Mike as he walked towards the door and then opened it.

“Mike?” Lucy asked, surprised. “What are you doing here?” she asked as she came forward him to hug him.

“Just spending some time before you steal him away from me,” he joked.

Lucy gave him a confused look and then glanced towards me. “You know?” she asked.

“Yes, and it actually hurts that neither of you have told me,” he said, moving aside so that Lucy could enter. I sat, frozen in my seat, as Lucy came into my house for the first time. She seemed dazzling, like always.

“Hey Zayn,” she smiled. I waved at her and then motioned her to the spot on the couch next to me. She sat down next to me and immediately grabbed my hand. I sat there, looking at my shoes, expecting Mike to judge us.

“You guys seem like a cute couple. It’s too bad the rest of the school doesn’t know it,” he smirked. I laughed. “So, uhm, I’ll leave you guys to your business,” Mike said as he began walking towards the door.

“Mike,” Lucy said, standing up. “I’m still a, you-know-what,” she whispered, looking down at the floor. I looked at Mike in confusion but he only looked at his sister.

“Oh, well that’s cool,” he nodded. “So, I’ll just go and don’t do anything too crazy, alright?” he said. We laughed and then Mike left. The house was silent except for the tellie.

“Do you mind me asking something?” I asked her.

“What?” she said, sitting back down next to me.

“What did you mean when you told Mike you were still you-know-what?” I asked.

Lucy blushed, and then smiled very tiny. “I’m still a virgin,” she whispered.

“Aw,” I smiled, gently kissing her. “I would have thought you were the first one to lose it,” I said.

She gently nudged me and then leaned against my chest. “It’s true, I am,” she said. I stroked her curls as we sat there in the silence. “Are you?” she asked suddenly.

“Am I what?” I asked.

“Have you ever done it with anyone?” she clarified. I nodded, even though she couldn’t see it.

“Yeah, I have,” I said, trying not to remember the memories. Although I was no expert, the women I had made love with before never seemed interested in emotions, just the fact that they received what they wanted. I was still waiting to make love with someone because I actually was in love.

She twirled around to face me. She seemed to be disappointed by my answer. I frowned. “What’s it like?” she asked, not looking directly into my eyes.

I lifted her chin with my fingers. “It’s not worth it if you don’t do it with someone you truly love,” I said honestly.

She smiled, although a bit hesitant. “Do you love me?” she asked.

“I do,” I said with no hesitations. I kissed her and she kissed me back without questions. “I really do,” I repeated when we pulled away.

“Then make love to me,” she said, kissing me once more. I felt it as she began to remove her shirt and then slip it over her head.

“We don’t have to if you’re not ready,” I said, easing her hands away from her belt.

She only shook her firmly. “I want to do this, Zayn. You’re the only one I can trust with this,” she said, and then moved closer to kiss me again. I suddenly realized how much I wanted this, and how long I had been waiting for this. There was no escaping this: I was in love with Lucy.

“Hey, let’s go up to my room instead,” I said, carefully leading her upstairs. I left the lights on as we slipped into my bed and made love for the first time. I felt the tingling sensation travel through all over my body. Lucy eventually found the courage to relax and, hopefully, enjoyed it as much as I did.

“Was it worth it?” she asked as we lay in my bed. I had my arms wrapped around her waist as her fingers circled around my hands.

I kissed her bare shoulder. “Absolutely,” I said.

“So you really do love me,” she said without a question.

“I do, I really do love you Lucy.”

“Good, because I really love you to,” she whispered.
