Chapter 8:

Monday Morning: History exam.
Tuesday Afternoon: English Exam.
Wednesday: Maths and Art exams.
Thursday: Literature exam.
Friday: Formal
Saturday: Graduation.

I woke up feeling ready. I was ready to sit my history exam and I was ready to pass it. I showered and got changed before meeting dad in his car.

"You ready bud?"

"Sure am"

"So you'll just walk home after the exam?"

"Yeah, I'll see you when you get home"

"Bye dad" I said leaning over and kissing his cheek. I grabbed my bag and opened the door.

"Good luck!" He said. I smiled in return and shut the door before hitching my bag higher onto my shoulder and heading for the schools gym where all exams will be sat.

"Troy Sanders, Ellen Smith, Nina Smith, Nicholas Taylor, Abigail Thomas..." Nina and I walked next to each other. We gave the supervising teachers any electronic devices we had and took our seats. Our history class wasn't very big so they crammed the rest of the tiny classes in as well. I think there's about 6 different exams taking place right now.

"You may begin"

"What did you have for question 10?" I asked Nina as soon as we were out of the gym.

"I chose B"

"But B was wrong"

"If in doubt choose B" she shrugged.

"I thought it was if in doubt choose C?"

I laughed as we wished Addy good luck on her exam.

"Wanna go for coffee?" Suggested Nina.

"Sure, I need a break from studying anyway"
We caught a town bus from school into the town center where we found our usual coffee shop.

Nina ordered an extra strong coffee while I just had a milkshake.

"How can't you like coffee?" She asked sipping her drink.

"Because I just don't, how can you not like rainbow ice cream?"

"Because it's gross"

"Same thing"

"Is not! Coffee is delicious, rainbow ice cream is gross"

I raised my eyebrows at her as I took a sip of my milkshake. "Doesn't Evan have a P.E exam?"

"Yeah why?"

"He's behind you"

She spun around and turned back with an evil smile. "Oh Evan over here!"

"Nina stop!"

Evan looked around for the voice that called him and as his eyes found us Nina waved at him. It looked like he excused himself from his friends as he made his way over to us. I sunk down into my chair and started drinking my milkshake.

"That's not gonna make him disappear" she pointed out.

"Shut up" I mumbled "You did this"

"Hey" he said pulling up a chair. "Is everything ok?"

"Everything's perfect isn't it Abbey?"

"So why'd you call me?"

"Abbey was wondering what she should wear for the date seeings as you didn't call her"

"I tried but it said that she blocked my number?".

Everyone turned and faced me, my face caught fire as I sunk deep down into my chair. I pulled out my phone and unlocked his number and saw there was ten missed calls. "Sorry"

"It's ok, I was thinking we could go out for dinner before the formal. I don't have an exam on Friday do you?"

"No she doesn't. It sounds lovely"

"Nina shut up"

"I'm just trying to help"

"Well I have to go, it was nice seeing you. I'll you round Abbey?"

"See ya Nina"

"Bye Evan!"

He walked back over to his friends and the walked off.

"That still doesn't answer my question" I said

"What questions?"

"Why isn't he sitting his exam"

Tuesday afternoon: English.

I strode confidently into the gym my newly brought dictionary in hand ready to ace this exam.

That was until the supervising teachers started doing the usual cheaters check. I knew being just bought that there was no way someone could of scribbled down some "notes".

Apparently I'm wrong. The teacher got me flicked through the pages when something fell out. Eyeing me suspiciously she bent down and opened the page full of quotes.

"Care to explain this Miss Thomas?"

"It wasn't me! I just bought that, it's impossible"

"Is there a problem?" Asked a male teacher.

"Yes. A very serious one at that"

"I didn't do it! Please let me sit my exams" I pleaded.

"Abigail Thomas"

"Yes" I squeaked

"To the principals office"

In all my years if attending this school I've NEVER been went in here for being 'naughty'. I've been the perfect student. Straight A's every year in almost every subject. Once I was Able to drop physical education that is.

"I can assure you Mrs Adams Abigail wouldn't cheat. There's no need for her to cheat, she's a straight A student"

"Then what is this" she spat slapping the piece of paper which was typed not hand written. Whoever did this was somewhat smart not to write it themselves.

Mr Daniels the principal scanned over the notes and started frowning. He took off his glasses and eyed me down. I gulped my palms sweating and my heart going into overdrive.

"I swear I didn't do it" I said shakily.

"Miss Thomas, cheating is a serious offense. Do you understand the consequences?"

"Yes sir I do but I didn't do it! Like you said I have no need to cheat!"

"But unless you can prove yourself innocent I have no choice but to suspend you from school until exams are over"

"NO! You can't do that."

"Excuse me?"

"I mean you can but you shouldn't! I haven't done anything wrong!"

"The sheet clearly has your name printed on it and its definitely a list of quotes"

"Check my laptop then" I said already pulling it out of my bag. Mrs Adams eyed me off again "I was going to give it in when you did the technology check" I assured her.

I typed my password in and opened word and all my recent documents and all my other files and let Mr Daniels check it himself.

"There's nothing here" he said sending an accusing look at Mrs Adams.

"That's simple. She deleted all evidence"

"Mrs Adams I think Abigail has been framed. Abigail your free to sit your exams and you get an extra 30 minutes to make up for the time lost. Your excused"

"Thank you Mr Daniels" I said taking my laptop off him and hurrying out of the office. I breathed a sigh of relief, I hope they catch whoever did that. I will personally make them pay if I ever find out.

As I entered the gym again I saw a teacher escorting Dan and Cameron out and towards the direction of the office I'd just come from. I smirked and realized they'd been caught.

Suck shit.

Wednesday: Art and Maths.

"Abbey!" I spun around at the sound of my name, but I should of been more careful because I saw Evan jogging over to me. Out of habit I rolled my eyes and continued on towards the gym for my art exam.

"Abbey wait!" He called again. Like hell I was waiting for him. I quickened my pace and made it to the back of the line of students waiting to enter the gym.

"Why didn't you stop and wait?" He panted from behind.

"How are you directly behind me?" I accused. He thanked the people behind him for letting him cut in line. Stupid popular jerks.

"So why didn't you stop"

"Because Evan unless you fail to recall, I told you to stay away from me."

He grinned like he'd won the lottery "Actually the last time we met you not only agreed to come on another date with me" he paused making sure the word 'another' was emphasized enough and making sure everyone who was around us got the point that we were in fact going a date "we kissed" he added smirking.

I blushed realizing he was right. I blushed deeper at the thought of how much I actually liked that kiss. And how I was up till the early hours of the morning dissecting every frame trying to figure out my feelings and his. "Go away" I mumbled turning around again.

He grabbed my arm and motioned for people to go ahead "Abbey I really need to tell you something but nows not a good time"

"It's not a good time for me either, actually I'm pretty booked out for the next couple of years. Maybe we should chat over some coffee when we're 30?"

"Ha. No I was thinking coffee after this exam?"

"Will it make you go away?" I said already giving in.

"Good enough chance" I said walking off.

"So that's a yes?"

"Yes Evan it's a yes" I laughed walking off again.

"Oh and Abbey" he called so I turned around one last time "good luck" he winked as I passed through the doors into the silent zone.

Thursday: Literature exam.

Last exam, thank fucking god. Is all I can say. One more exam then I'm done.

I rolled out of bed with a smile on my face it fell when I remembered I had that date with Evan tonight. If I avoid him all day then I can just cancel saying I was sick or something. It's possible I can wiggle my way out of this. I'm sure he'd be fine, it's not like he likes me.

I changed into my school clothes for the last time and walked out the house and into dads car.

"One more exam"

"Are you nervous?"

"A little"

"You'll be fine bud"

We arrived at school and I said good bye heading straight for the library. I smiled at the old librarian as I signed in. During the week long exam period years 10,11 and 12 are required to sign in if they use the library. I dunno why it's just a school policy thing.

I sat at a table on my own and pulled out my books beginning to revise a few last minute things.

I was so focused on getting the last thing right I never noticed someone sit down next to me. Well that was until my book was yanked out from under my nose and was sent flying across the library. Furious I looked up my eyes burning with anger, they settled on Cameron: Evan's side kick. I smirked to myself I could use that one day.

"Ello Ello" he said.

I ignored him and got up to get my book back, I had no time for people like him. I would bet a 100 bucks he'll fail all his exams.

Cameron wasn't having this and he stuck out his leg and I tripped over it and face-planted the floor. I could hear the giggles and whispers already as my face turned red with embarrassment and anger. I didn't need to be ticked off to close to a very important exam.

"So we need to talk" he sneered.
"I don't think we do" I replied coldly getting up and dusting myself off. "I actually have an exam to sit in a couple of minutes so if you'll excuse me" I said grabbing my stuff and making another run for it.

"Do I need to repeat myself?"

The tone in his voice told me to stand still. But I wasn't afraid of Cameron. I wasn't really afraid of anything anymore. Apart from maybe my emotions and feelings. I sat down again and made sure there were teachers nearby.

"I'm not going to hurt you"

"Previous events say otherwise". I smirked when I saw the reaction it got. See Cameron was known to hurt girls, maybe not physically but he sure is a heart breaker. And he hates it when people like me say otherwise.

"I don't bash girls" he gritted through clenched teeth. He breathed in and settled himself before going on "I've noticed Evan has been all about making it up to you lately. It's all he talks about. Abbey this, Abbey that."

"Really?" I asked astonished.

Ignoring my question he just picked up where I cut him off "So being such a good mate, I have to tell you this. Evan doesn't like you. He's just messing with you. Do you honestly believe that he cares about you? That date your going on, he was planning to make you think he cared then he was going to crush you"

I flinched and he saw. I saw the evil glint in his eyes "He was going to crush you like he was a hammer and you were a defenseless shell"

I flinched again. "I don't believe you. You just said he couldn't stop talking about me" I finally said.

"Read this then" he said giving me a piece of folded paper which was dated to yesterday's date.

I unfolded it and read it aloud "Abigail Thomas. What an ugly human being, how could two people create such a hideous creature. She's such a loser. I can't wait for the date it's going to be so much fun"

"I'm just trying to help" he shrugged getting up and walking off "oh and Abbey"

I looked up at him tears blurring my vision "What" I choked out.

"Good luck on your exam" with that he walked out clapping his hands like his work was done.

I stared at the piece of paper. Soon the ink was smudging because my tears were landing on the paper. I folded it back up and walked off to my exam.

I got to the gym and saw Evan high fiving his mates looking on top of the world. Cameron saw me and winked. Suddenly the pocket containing the note felt like a million tons. My hand moved to my pocket and I felt the note. Evan followed Cameron's gaze and saw me. He waved at me but I looked away feeling as Cameron put it crushed.

"What's wrong?" He asked.

"What's this?" I asked giving him the note.

"I didn't write this I swear!" He said before he'd even finished reading it.

"How fucking stupid do you think I am!"

"Who gave you this?"

"Your buddy Cameron"

"Your going to believe him over me?"

"Explain the note then"

"I did! I didn't write it"

"I cancel"

"The date, yeah I'm not coming unless you explain the note. You know what Evan as stupid as this makes me sound I was actually starting to fall for you. Now I'm not too sure."

"Abbey wait"

"Why am I always the one who ends up upset?" I asked tears rolling down my cheeks.

"Because you never let me explain"

"Go on"

"That's not my handwriting for starters and I would never call someone a hideous creature. Plus-"

"Abigail Thomas" a teacher shouted.

"Don't go" he said.

"Evan I have to go"

"Fine. But meet me here right after the exam"

"Please?" He asked
"Fine." I said running off.

I put my pen down and waited for the teacher to collect my exam. Evan was already outside waiting for me. I was contemplating sneaking out through the girls change rooms and avoiding him. And it was true, I was falling for Evan Crawford. After all the years of hating him I've finally been broken. But I came to the conclusion that I always hated him, it was just because I could never have him so I pushed my feelings deep deep down and denied it. But it's clear now. I like Evan. That single thought made my stomach feel funny and my heart fluttered softy. I got up and made my way outside. He was leaning causally against a pole looking mighty fine.

"Hi" I simply said stopping a few paces away.

He pushed himself off the pole and took two big strides towards me and smashed his lips onto mine. I let my bag drop and I melted into him. I arched my back trying to get as close as I could, Evan's arm snaked around my waist and pulled me closer.

Then I was tackled to the ground by a person with really blond hair. She screamed and started pulling my hair.

I screamed in pain as the mysterious girl pulled out all my hair and was using me as her own personal scratching post.

"Amy get off her!" Gasped a teacher I'm guessing. I kept screaming trying to pushed Amy off me, but she wouldn't move.

"You slut! You boyfriend stealing slut" she screamed as someone lifted her off me. I sat up and inspecting myself. Big long red marks decorated my pale arms one of them was even bleeding. My head was spinning due to the tackle and the impact from hitting the ground. I looked around and saw a stunned Evan. When his eyes met mine and knelt down and picked me up.

"I'm taking you to the hospital"

"I'm..... Fine" I gasped.

He scoffed and picked up my bag while rushing over to his car.

20minutes later we arrived and I was rushed into a room to be checked.

"I can't believe she did that" he said again shaking his head.

"Can you stop shaking your head" I mumbled holding an ice pack to my head.

"Because your ruining your hair"

"You must of hit your head hard"

"And plus your killing much needed brain cells" I smirked.

"You never miss an opportunity do you?"

"I have years to catch up on"

"I don't know if you'll remember this but Abbey I really like you"

"I like you too Evan. I kissed you didn't I. Before your crazy girlfriend tackled me into the concrete."

"She's not my girlfriend" he spat.

"You might wanna make that clear before she attacks me again"

"I did! And I'm really sorry about this" he said motioning towards my battered and bruised body.

"No biggie. I'll just be another target tomorrow"

"The formal"

"Are you still going with Ben?"

"Yeah as far as I know"

"Abigail your free to gol just keep icing your head" the nurse said smiling at me.

"Thanks" I said following Evan out.

"Do you think maybe he could go with one of your other friends and I could go with you?" He started blushing.

"I dunno. You'll have to ask him yourself"

"Would you wanna go with me?"

"Are you asking me to the formal Evan?"

"That's depends" he said stopping in front of his car.

"On what?" I giggled as he pulled me closer.

"On the answer"

"Ask me"

"Would you like to go to the formal with me?"
"Yes. I'd love to."

"One more question"

"What is it!" I laughed.

"Can I kiss you"

"That depends"

"Are there any jealous girls around that are going to hospitalize me?"

"No" he chuckled.

"Then yes you may" I said blushing as his lips touched mine.
