Chapter 6.

"Abbey wake up" said someone shaking my sleeping body.

"Go away" I mumbled burrowing my head deeper into the pillows.

"You have to get up for your last week of school"

I groaned and tugged the blanket over my head as well. "Don't make me go"

"One more week bud come on"

"Fine" I sighed rolling out of bed and dragging myself into the bathroom. "Woah" I said when my eyes saw my reflection "That's horrifying"

I stripped and climbed into the shower. I let the hot water run over my bare skin before I washed and conditioned my hair. Then I washed my face and body. I stood in the middle of the shower for another couple of minutes reflecting on the year. Even though it was the last year of high school some people instead of trying to set up they're lives by studying thought it would be more a more enjoyable year if they tormented certain people to the point where they dreaded coming to school. Not hinting at anyone in particular. You would reckon by the age of 18 people would grow up and leave the people they don't like alone, I guess that's not the case.

I turned the water off and wrapped myself in a fluffy towel. After I was dried I reluctantly pulled my school uniform on for one of the last ever times and finished getting ready.

"Five more days" I mumbled to myself as I walked through the school gate alone. I passed the musicians, the artists, the sport freaks, a few teachers who were happily discussing the last week, I even passed Evan and his crew who didn't say anything to me.

As curious as I was to know why I didn't get called a match stick or why they didn't crack they're usual jokes I wasn't about to stop and ask. I kept my head down and rushed towards my locker. I made it to my locker in one piece thankfully, I unpacked my bag and got ready for my first class: English.

The first bell rang and I went off to homeroom. When I got there Addy and Nina were already there but no one else was.

"Did you guys get attacked by Evan this morning?" I asked.

"We were just talking about that" said Addy.

"I walked right past them and they didn't even say anything" I explained taking a seat.

"Yeah they ignored me to, do you reckon they're planning something bad to do to us on muck-up day?"

"I didn't think of that" I admitted feeling sick. Muck-up day was on Friday and it was a day when all the year 12's got to play pranks on teachers and other students as long as it wasn't too bad. Knowing our luck Evans gang will have something terrible planned for us. It was a day where the year 12's could do what they liked because they couldn't be put in detention or suspended because we won't be here next year. Whoever came up with the concept is a legend

"If that's the case we're so screwed" said Nina

"I'm not coming" announced Addy.

"You have to come! It's the last day!"

"If I'm going to be the center of horrible and embarrassing pranks I'd rather not come"

"We should just hide during lunch"

"We sound like such chickens" I laughed.

"Abbey's right, we need to take a stand" said Nina slamming her fist onto the table.

"We should come up with our own spectacular prank and out prank the popular kids" I said. I could already see it all unfolding, the look on everyone's faces when we finally won against the popular kids.

"I don't know..." Said Addy.

"Not only would it be fun, but imagine the bonus of beating those jerks at their own game" smirked Nina.

"She's right Addy"

"What if it backfires"

"Then we get laughed at for the last time our lives."

"There's barely anything to lose and a whole lot to gain"

"Fine ill do it"

So it was set. The three of us were going to pull the best prank this school would ever see. It's about time someone took them down. I just hope it doesn't backfire to horribly.

"Hey Abbey can I speak to you?" I looked up and raised my eyebrows.

"What's so important that you can't just tell me here?"

"It's kinda private and slightly embarrassing" he said scratching the back of his neck.

"I said no. I'm not speaking to you Evan"

"Mr Crawford is there something you'd like to share?" Questioned the teacher.

"No sir"

"Then sit down"

"Yes sir" he mumbled.

Wednesday afternoon.

"How about this one?" Asked Addy coming out of the change room in a tight red dress.

"Isn't that a little short?"

"And revealing?"

"But the colour is amazing" she argued.

"Agreed the colour does look great on your but the style is a little too-"

"Slutty" said Nina cutting me off.

I shot Nina a look and apologized to Addy and went to find myself a dress. I went to the front of the shop where they selling formal dresses and started flicking through the racks. I didn't want a long dress, seeings as it was going to be pretty warm I was going for a strapless short-just-above-the-knee length dress. I got to the last dress and my eyes widened. How someone like the popular girls hadn't found this was beyond me. It was a pale pink fitted dress with one sleeve made of ruffles that went diagonally down the hip. It wasn't what I had in mind but that didn't matter, I wanted this dress end of.

I checked the price and to my surprise it was within budget, not that I had a budget, I could afford to splash out. I've been saving for months now so I could find the perfect dress. I checked the size and gasped it was like I was meant to find this dress. Maybe that's why the popular girls hasn't picked it yet, the size would of been far to big for their anorexic bodies.

I took it off the rack and ran to the fitting rooms and immediately tried it on. I took a deep breath and opened my eyes, they nearly rolled out of their sockets. For once I felt pretty.

"Found my dress" I shouted doing a 360 to see the dress from every angle. The pale pink didn't clash with my hair. I was worried I wouldn't be able to find a dress because it would clash with my red hair. All I've seen is reds, yellows, oranges and greens. I opened the door of my cubicle and watched as Addy and Nina's mouths fell open.

"Do you like it?" I asked, not really caring if they hated it or not they weren't the ones who were wearing it.

"Your look-"

"Beautiful". I think we all froze when we heard his voice. I turned around and saw Evan leaning against the entry way arms crossed looking very shocked and smug.

I blushed then said "What are you doing here Evan"

"I came dress shopping with Amy"

Of course. Mr popular was Miss Popular. Amy was the schools 'it' girl. It didn't surprise me he was here with her.

"Yeah I heard you two were going together."

"Is that a problem?" He quizzed pushing off the wall and stepping closer.

"Not at all. It's a bit cliche you know, the most popular guy going with the most popular girl"

"Your just jealous Abbey"

I did the most unladylike thing ever and snorted "I am not jealous of you, I actually pity you"

"How so"

"Having to go with that... Thing... Sounds like a blast"

"She's not a thing."

"Your right. Being a thing would be exaggerating"

He closed the space between us within seconds fuming. "You better watch what you say about my girlfriend or else you'll land yourself and your weird friends in a lot of trouble"

"Girlfriend?" I choked out. I wasn't expecting that. I hated Evan don't get me wrong, but even I thought he had standards. I never thought he'd end up with Amy.

He stood back and smirked "Yeah she's my girlfriend. Is that ok?"

"Of course. Why wouldn't it be" I said regaining my composure.

"For a second there I thought you were jealous"

"Well your wrong. I'm glad you've found someone as arrogant and conceited as you are. Have fun at the dance Evan" I said walking back into the stall and taking off the dress. I leaned against the wall and took a few deep breaths to calm myself. Was I getting jealous over Amy? No that's impossible. Why would I be jealous of her? She's an A-grade slut.

"Abbey, are you ok?" Said Nina from the other side.
"Yeah I'm fine" I sniffed. I can't wait to graduate.

I got changed into my other clothes and went to buy the dress. I saw Evan sitting on the couch waiting for Amy to finish choosing her dress, he turned my way and gave me a half wave. I just looked away and grabbed the bag containing my dress from the lady. I said good bye to her and followed Addy and Nina who both now had dresses into the nearest and cheapest jewelry store.

We spent around 35 minutes choosing out other accessories. I had brought a few bracelets and a ring that matched my dress and a black clutch bag. Next was shoes. Mine were easy I spotted them as soon as we entered the store. I went straight to the shelf and tried on the size I was. They were plain nude coloured high heels. I found my size and paid within ten minutes. Nina and Addy were a little more picky because they got such out there coloured dresses they didn't know whether to get black heels or go for another out there colour.

Around 30 minutes later they both decided on black heels. Nina dropped me home around 6:00pm and dad was cooking dinner.

"Did you get anything?" He asked not turning around.

"Sure did"

"Can I see?"

"Nope, you'll have to wait until the night"

"Fair enough"

"When's dinner going to be ready?"

"Ten minutes"

"Alright" I said going towards my room to put everything away.

After dinner I did more exam prep until I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer then I had a quick shower and got into bed. I couldn't get his face out of my head when I closed my eyes as I saw him looking at me in the dress.

"Beautiful" he'd said. I bet he was joking. He has a girlfriend Abbey he was definitely joking.
