Chapter two.

Monday morning comes around way to fast for my liking. I took my light blue school shirt off the hanger and slipped it over my head still half asleep, being summer it would be hot so no need for a jumper. I walked over to my draws and dug out my navy blue netball skirt I used for school.

I don't go to one of those fancy private schools, even though I'd like to and I bet the people are a hundred times nicer. I don't. So I pulled on my white socks which go to my mid-shin and I buckled up my black t-bar school shoes and walked/shuffled down to the bathroom at the end of the hall.

I started brushing my teeth while running a brush though my bed hair.

After three minutes of teeth brushing I spat and rinsed my mouth. I took one look at my hair and decided to keep it down. I washed my face before shuffling back into the kitchen to get some breakfast.

I poured myself a bowl of cornflakes and a glass of orange juice before sitting down at the kitchen table.

"Morning Bud"

"Morning" I said through a mouthful of cornflakes

"Chew with your mouth close" Laughed Dad.

"Three weeks left. Man that makes me sound so old"

"That's coz you are old"

"Only speaking the truth Daddy-O"

"Hurry up and get ready or else your walking"

"Can we pick Nina and Addy up?"

"Don't we always" he said rolling his eyes.

"Doesn't hurt to ask" I got up from the table and put my dishes away. I grabbed my school bag and followed Dad out to his car.

"Ready for your third last Monday of High School"

"What do you think" I said while giving him a knowing look. One thing I'm thankful for is my strong relationship I have with my dad. I can usually tell him everything. I try to avoid topics like periods and bra's I'm not that cruel.

"Come on! Monday's are great! They bring forward a new week, new challenges." he paused taking a look at my face before chuckling. "You Abigail Thomas are something"

"What's that suppose to mean!?" I asked shocked and confused.

"Means your unique. Your not like those other girls at school, you Nina and Addy are so different. It just amuses me"

"I have no words for you" I huff turning so I was facing the window. We pulled up outside Addy's house and her and Nina got in.

"Morning girls" smiled Dad.

"Morning Mr Thomas" replied Addy.

"Hey Dave" smirked Nina.

"Like I said your all so different" he mumbled pulling away and driving off in the direction of school.

* *

"Have a great day girls"

"See ya Mr Thomas"

"Bye Dave"

"Bye" I said giving him a quick peck on the cheek.

I grabbed my bag from the boot of the car and jogged to catch up to Nina and Addy who were power walking their way through the crowds.

"What's the rush?" I asked.

But they didn't get to answer me because someone grabbed my bag and spun me round. The snickering from in front of me told me who was gonna make this Monday a living hell. I tried pulling away but when I did someone caught me. I noticed Addy and Nina were surrounded just like I was. I backed up and stood next to my friends.

"Hey Addy We all sprang from apes, but you didn't spring far enough" shouted Dan one of Evan Crawford's mates.

"Nina It looks like your face caught on fire and someone tried to put it out with a fork!" shouted Cameron another one of Evan's mates.

There was a chorus of Ooh's and Ahh's. But that's not even the worst, until you've been publicly humiliated and continually bullied nothing will ever come close. Their insults don't hurt anymore, once upon a time they did. Not today.

"Abbey you'll never be the man your mother is" smirked Evan, the man himself.

No one ooh'ed no one Ahh'ed. There was just silence. Everyone knew what happened to my mum. The principal made everyone attend a service in memory for her. Usually she'd be left out of this, usually they wouldn't stoop so low.

I stayed silent, I tried to hold back the tears. I hadn't cried while Evan and his mates taunted me for years now. But as soon as my Mum gets mentioned I start bawling my eyes out. He knew how to make me cry, everyone knew it. But everyone else knew better then to say stuff like that. This is Evan Crawford we're talking about, the same boy who broke my left arm by "accidentally" pushing me off the bridge so I fell onto the ground below 7 years ago, same Evan who posted a photo of me when I first woke up in the morning on a school camp 2 years ago and labeled it as "The Sasquatch has been sighted!!", the same Evan who on my birthday threw a basketball at my face causing my nose to bleed then while I was sitting down minding my own business kicked my back. It's understatement when I say I hate Evan Crawford. I despise him, detest him, Loathe him.

"Earth to Abbey. Cat got your tongue?"

"Your a bastard Evan. You and your mates think its hilarious to pick on others. Ever since we first met in kinder you've had some stupid grudge held against me. Every fucking chance you got you would humiliate me, you've made my life a living hell. You knew how close I was to my Mum, everyone knew it. Yet you still bring it up and insult her. Well you know what Evan! IM OVER IT. IM OVER LISTENING TO THE BULLSHIT THAT COMES OUT OF YOUR MOUTH! NO ONE DESERVES TO BE TREATED HOW YOU TREAT US. HOW ABOUT YOU GROW A BRAIN AND GET SOME RESPECT FOR PEOPLE. BECAUSE IM A HUNDRED PERCENT CERTAIN YOUR PARENTS RAISED YOU BETTER THAN THIS"

His mouth opened as if he was going to say something. Then it closed again. Open. Closed.

"Earth to Evan? Cat got your tongue?" I smirked.

"Oooh! Burn!" someone shouted from my left.

"SERVED!" shouted another.

"You just got owned dude" laughed another.

"Hook, line and sinker" teased Nina snapping her fingers in front of his face, just to irritate him further. It sure worked. His face was beet red. His eyes narrowed at us and his fists were curled into tight balls. If we were guys he would of knocked our lights out.

"Your going to regret you ever opened that slutty mouth of yours" he said I could tell by the little vein to the right of his neck that it was taking all the will power he had not to smash our faces in. At least he wasn't gonna hit us.

"Try me" I shot back smirking back at him. His eyes narrowed at us even further if that was even possible and with one final huff he stormed away.

Once everyone walked away I turned to face Addy who was stunned like a mullet and Nina who looked like she was about to scream in excitement.

"Man I never thought you had it in you" admitted Addy patting my back coming back to reality.

"We're so screwed" I said finally coming to terms with what just happened".

"What happened you just snapped and went off at him!" said Nina now jumping up and down her purple hair flying everywhere.

"I dunno I guess he just hit the wrong nerve. I wouldn't ever let him get away with something like that, not while I'm alive"

"Miss Thomas, Miss Smith, Miss Hart off to homeroom please" Said Mrs Hanson in her boring, nasally voice.

"But the bell hasn't even-" Addy was cut off by the bell ringing. "-Gone" she finished clearly annoyed. "I hate her almost as much as I hate Evan"

"The worst she can do is give you detention, Evan on the other hand I fear what's being planned out in that sick mind of his" I shuddered.

"Home room now or else I'll give you three two weeks detention" she yelled this time.

"Sorry Mrs Hanson" we said quickly scurrying off to room PS32.

"You girls are late" said our homeroom teacher Mr Williams. Usually he's pretty chilled... As long as your on time and not 5 minutes late.

"They were probably banging one of those goth kids" sneered Evan. Oh did I mention his in our homeroom? No? There's probably a reason for that.

"Be nice Evan" tutted Mr Williams clearly someone didn't enjoy Monday's either.

I didn't see it but I could feel him rolling his eyes at the teacher. Then I could feel his eyes burning into the back of my head. We apologized to Mr Williams and promised not to be late again (lies) and took out seats in the left hand corner of the room.

I took out my phone and did the usually homeroom routine, twitter, Facebook, instagram, tumblr etc. yeah I'm such a cool kid...

I was scrolling through my twitter feed when a message appeared.

'Ur so dead From Ur worst nightmare'

'Ha. Your so scary Evan, Like I said Try me' I hit send and stared Evan down until he read the message. A smirk played on his lips as I saw him start typing away. I felt my phone vibrate and I looked down feeling his eyes boring into my skin.

'Oh trust me, your going to pay for every word. Keep a look out coz if I hadn't already I'm going to make your life a living hell'

'Ooh you spelt everything correctly! Well done! The ape is learning. Toodles Evan xx' I hit send and sent a smirk in his direction before grabbing my bag and strolling off to my locker.

I usually wouldn't reply to him but I wasn't going to let him and his buddies get away with this anymore. No way. It was time we stood up for ourselves. It was about time someone brought him down.

I did my locker combo (13, 36, 30) and my metal locker swung open I shoved my bag inside and took out my books for first period- History. No Evan! I found my four pen and shut my locker door with a soft bang before walking off to room PS10 where the rest of my class was waiting outside for the teacher- Mr Fredrick.

Once he arrived we piled inside and got ready for the class to start.

* *

"No sign of Evan" said Addy looking over her should one last time just to make sure. I think she's scared. He can't hit us or physically hurt us so anything else we could take.

It was lunch and we were sitting under out usual tree just off the footy oval. We sat in a group of six. Addy, Nina, Kyle, James, Zack and I. Kyle, James and Zack are outcasts like us. But obviously being boys they have to be a lot more careful of Evan and his gang because they can be hit. And trust me it's happened and I don't want to see the result of that again. Let's just say all up there were over 50 stitches in total.

I took a bite of my ham and cheese white bread sandwich and did a quick scan over the footy oval, my eyes glazed over a group of five well built boys before continuing on. Then I did a double take.

"Oh shit"

"What's wrong?"

"Troubles coming" I said pointing a finger towards the group of five who were becoming more and more intimidating the closer they got.

"If we leave now maybe we can avoid them" said Addy looking scared out of her wits.

"No it's about time people stood up against those meat heads" stated Nina rolling up her pretend sleeves and taking out her nose ring for safe measures.

"I agree Evan and his mates need to be at the end of what they dish out" agreed James.

"Why hello everyone fancy meeting you here" smiled Evan obviously fake.

"Oh yes fancy the odd's of you and your jerk friends coming over to the other end of the school when usually you'd sit in the courtyard and suck the faces off 21st century sluts, oh yeah fancy that" said Nina rolling her eyes for extra effect. She was good.

"Now Nina I don't think your in any position to being calling people sluts" tutted Dan.

" I can say whatever the bloody hell I want" she snaps.

"Anyway we just came over to apologize for earlier, we said some pretty unacceptable things so we're sorry" said Evan.

I narrowed my eyes at him to try and work out what he was doing. I could tell he was faking.

"You can take that apology, shove it up your ass and when the shit backs up to your mouth aim it towards someone who cares" says Zack stepping forward.

"I'll give you one last chance accept the apology or regret ever coming to school" said Evan stepping closer to Zack.

"We'll take an apology when you mean it"

"Oi Evan what are you doing?" shouted Ben jogging over to us. Saved.

"Saying sorry to these losers but they won't accept it" shrugged Evan eyeing me off.

I stuck my middle finger up at him and he looked taken back. For a split second and I mean the SMALLEST split second I saw a flash of guilt and regret in his eyes but as quickly as it appeared it was replaced with anger.

"They're not losers Evan now walk away before you do something you'll regret"

Evan's gaze never left mine until he was pulled away by Cameron.

Weird. I knew they didn't come over here to say sorry. They were gonna try and start something. Well their not the only group who can play these games. Surviving school is what we do best. We're ten times tougher then everyone else if anyone's going to take them down it's going to be us.
