Chapter 14

*Harry's POV*

My smile grew wider when she recognized me. Her eyes were wide, but not full of life as usual. Her skin was paler than I remembered and the right side of her upper head was majorly bruised. I sighed at her lack of knowledge of how beaten up she looked. Her eyes searched mine for answers but I just weakly smiled and licked my lips, "How's your head?" I repeated myself.

Her eyes suddenly lit up like she remembered everything as she lifted her hand to her head, lightly cupping the giant gash and wincing in pain.

I frowned down at her and removed her hand from the mark, inspecting the gash thoroughly. It needed to be cleaned. Certainly it wasn't going to kill her, but it needed time to heal.

"I'll go find some water to clean your wound with. I'll be back." I landed a quick kiss on her temple before attempting to stand up. She grabbed me by my arm and pulled me back down to her side, pouting mildly.

"No," she whined, "Don't leave me." I bit my lip, trying to resist and get her as much medical help I could find, but unfortunately she got the best of me. I sat down next to her frail body and watched her hum in response to my staying, obviously pleased I did. She closed her eyes and stirred from her place on the ground. I didn't want to leave her, but I had to find shelter so she could properly rest, not in the open.

I whipped my head around in search for Louis until I remembered I was mad at him before he stormed off. He would be back, hopefully. He didn't bring his pack with him during his rant while walking away, but only brought the small hand gun that was found inside the sac for safety.

Clearly I was angry with Louis. He almost killed my girlfriend. I still wasn't sure why she was here, but decided right now wasn't the time to ask. I just sat in silence thinking to myself about nothing really. I thought about family, old friends, Violet, One Direction and how I would be killed by them or I would be the one killing them. Who knew. I thought about winning for Violet- Oh shit. If Violet was next to me, and there could be only one winner, how was I to save myself and her? I knew if she died and left me to win, I would be nothing. And I knew if I died and left her to win, she would be nothing. Unless we both died together..

My mind raced around in a traumatic state before I heard rusting of leaves behind me. I quickly shot up to my feet, not sure what I would do in this situation. I prayed that this wasn't going to be a problematic fight for me. I really wasn't in the mood.

I stood tall as the figure came into view more clearly. My muscles un tensed once I realized it was only Louis who had made it back in one piece.

"Hey," he weakly smiled to me. I gave a quick acknowledging nod before he continued awkwardly, "I found a cave not to far from here. We can bring Violet there to rest. And we can shelter there," he looked up at the sky, "it looks like its going to rain anyway."

The idea sounded brilliant to me. Don't get me wrong, I was still as mad at Louis as I was before, just able to tolerate him now.

"Uhm, yeah. Pack up our stuff and grab our sacs. Carry them and I'll get Violet. You lead the way." He nodded and began to fumble around with the backpacks, shoving all our stuff back into them.

I bent down and lightly touched my hand to Violet's cheek, stirring her from her sleep. Her eyes fluttered open to be greeted by my smiling face.

"Hey, beautiful," I whispered, "Lou found a cave. We're going to relocate there, okay?" She only closed her eyes again and seemed to agree silently.

I gently removed my jacket from under her head and slipped it over my shoulders. I scooted her closer to me, picking her up bridal style and pulling her to my chest. I turned around to see Louis looking over his shoulder and motioning me to follow him.

I obeyed and silently made my way along the path with him, ever so cautiously trying not to rock Violets body, in respect to her comfort.

After what seemed like ages, Louis stopped in front of a small cave.

Liar said it wasn't to far from where we were.

"Go grab some sticks for fire. I'll get her situated." I said to Louis. He frowned before sauntering off into the dusky night.

I stepped into the cave and looked around. The air smelled of smoke and in the far corner ashes were still slightly burning. Someone had been here, and didn't leave to long ago.

I was ready to turn around and move to a different place when I saw the fading light from the sky. It was useless to hunt for shelter at this time of the late day.

This cave would have to do for one night, and hopefully it would do good to us.

I propped Violet down onto the cave's ground while taking my jacket off of my body and again placing it under her head. From one of the packs Louis had left, I pulled a sleeping bag and covered the thermal material over Violets body. She was dead asleep. I guess the best way to heal something is sleep, at least its the best way when you have no other medication.

I moved my hand to her forehead to be greeted by the burning sensation radiating off of her. I gaped my mouth open and pressed my thumb to her neck pulse, feeling its irregular heart beat.

As if on que Louis came bursting into the cave with an excited look on his face. At first I was angrier seeing he didn't carry sticks for fire with him. But that soon faded once I saw the amount of water her had saturated into his shirt he had torn off his body.

"I found a stream Haz, here drink some!" He lifted the shirt above his head and rung some of the shirts water out, into his mouth.

He grinned as the liquid dripped down his chin and he passed the wet shirt to me. I greedily didn't say a word but pressed the cold cloth shirt onto Violets feverish head. I kept my finger to her neck pulse and waited for it to rapidly decrease from the sudden coolness.

"Louis! Go collect as much water as you can," I slipped my own shirt off over head and threw it along with a backpack at him before continuing, "Use my shirt and grab the fishing spear from that pack, check if they're any fish!" My voice wasn't excited but more urgent.

Louis quickly scampered off as Violet began to lightly twitch. I pressed a new, colder spot onto Violets forehead before she calmed down.

Looks like tonight I won't be getting any sleep. Violet was my top priority and I planned on tending to her all night if I had to.
