“Help, Help!” Lord Rooksby turned, sharp heels clicking despite the mud. In the far distance he could see a young looking woman in a blue dress, gesticulating wildly.

“Hold on a moment, we will be with you as soon as possible.” He hollered back and to Corporal “Come on! Hurry up with those horses.”

As they drew closer Rooksby was, to say the least, slightly disappointed. The lady was not quite as young and fair as he had first imagined her to be. In fact, she was extremely elderly with a face like a wrinkled prune and a heavy black headscarf.

“What seems to be the problem madam?”

“Oh, it was terrible! My nerves are shattered, quite, quite shattered. My grandson found a young boy wandering in the lake. He was obviously mad. Muttering nonsense under his breath. Of course I sent my Abraham – that’s my grandson - straight up to the asylum. But then, when I was quite alone and helpless, he turned on me. Went berserk, I do not think that I would have survived. If, at that point, he had not become distracted and bolted off in the direction of the sea.” She acted as though she would faint. But her efforts went unnoticed. As soon as they had heard her out, the staff from the asylum mounted and galloped of in the aforesaid direction.
