Friends With Benefits

48. Chapter 48

"Well I only just realized that we haven't been on an official 'first date' yet," I began with an enthusiastic smile. She bit her bottom lip, smiling wide with excitement. "So for our first date, I thought we'd stay in, cuddle up, watch a movie, and-" Her eyes narrowed and she pursed her lips, which caused me to stop mid sentence.
"What?" I asked as my smile dropped, confused by her expression.
"Harry, you do realize that before we got together we were best friends, right?" she asked, almost chuckling.
"Yeah, so?"
"And that you would tell me everything...?"
"Yeah...?" I had no idea where she was going with this.
"So if I know you like I think I do, then I'd be willing to bet everything I own that you are about to pull out the movie 'Bambi' from your bag for us to watch on our 'first date.' Am I right? Or am I right?" she asked with an arrogant expression.
I narrowed my eyes. "Hmm, lucky guess."
"Oh my god, Harry," she said with a sympathetic laugh, "I knew it! That's your signature move, babe. First you'll invite her over, then you'll pop in Bambi- which she'll think is kind of weird at first, but at the end of the movie when she's bawling like a baby, you swoop in and comfort her, until finally you make your big move. Then BAM! Guaranteed action."
Well, fuck. She did know me well. But I didn't want to give her the satisfaction of letting her know she was right.
"I have no idea what you're talking about," I said coolly, suppressing a smile.
"Mhmm. Sure," she said sarcastically. "Well I can guarantee you that, that move-" she said as she inched closer to me, eyeing my lips, and lingering in front of me. She was talking in an almost seductive whisper now, as she grabbed me gently by the collar of my shirt. "-will definitely-" she looked back up at me, parting her lips slowly, as I waited desperately for her to continue speaking. I set my eyes upon her luscious lips, eager for them to be on mine. My eyes looked back into hers as I impatiently waited for her to tell me what she wanted to say. She spoke suddenly. "-NOT work on me," she said with a determined wink as she pulled back away from me, too quickly for my liking. I let out a sigh followed by a soft chuckle. What a tease.
"We'll see about that," I said cheekily. She glared at me but I could see the corners of her lips rise up as she fought back a smile. My move was going to work whether she'd like to admit to it or not. It never fails.
A smug smile formed on my face at the thought.
"Okay let's take this to the bedroom shall we?" I asked.
"Harry, geez, it's our first date, what do you take me for? Easy?" she asked teasingly. I rolled my eyes and smiled. "Well it isn't my fault that the only TV you have is in your bedroom, Love." She chuckled softly to herself at my remark as she held out her hand, to which I grabbed, and led me up the stairs. She turned back with a cheeky expression on her face. "How do you know I didn't do that intentionally?" she asked with a wink.
She giggled as she led me into her bedroom where her strategically placed television was. She walked passed her mirror on the way in and caught a glimpse of herself, causing her to stop abruptly. "Aw, you should at least let me change and do my makeup or something. It is our first date after all," she said insecurely. Her hair was up in a messy, yet tidy bun with little strands flowing effortlessly along her face. She had no makeup on so her face was clear and natural, just how I liked it. She was wearing one of my shirts, which was a bit big for her, but still flattering. It hung loosely on one shoulder, revealing her delicate skin and prominent collarbone, which was just begging for me to plant light, wet kisses upon. I could see her destroyed-style shorts barely peeking out from underneath my shirt. Her effortless look, made her look all the more beautiful.
"I think you look absolutely breathtaking, Love," I said to her sincerely as I gazed into her big brown eyes that seemed to almost sparkle. She blushed and instinctively looked down at the ground with a smile on her face. I gently brushed my thumb against her cheek, as though it would somehow wipe away the pink color that it had formed. She looked back up at me and I gave her a soft, lingering kiss. She instinctively licked her lips and then smiled, revealing her cute little dimples that I loved so much.
"Okay, come on, let's watch this movie already, it's my absolute favorite," I said with a smile.
There was a sudden outburst of thunder, causing Leslie to jump at the unexpected booming sound that echoed through her room. The sun slowly disappeared behind the clouds, causing light to gradually fade away from her bedroom. I began to hear the pitter-patter of raindrops against her window.
I looked back at her as the corners of my lips rose to form a smile.
"Perfect movie weather."
