Friends With Benefits

33. Chapter 33

I woke up with Harry's arms wrapped around me as my bare back was pressed against his bare chest. I smiled, remembering last night. I absentmindedly brushed my fingers gently over his hand that was lying comfortably on my stomach. He woke up and I felt him kiss me lightly on my shoulder.
"Good morning, beautiful," he whispered sleepily as his lips brushed against my ear. His arms tightened around me as he nuzzled his face into the crook of my neck, still tired, his curls lightly brushing and tickling my face. I twisted my neck back so I could look at him. He lifted his head, showing off his gorgeous smile as his eyes were squinted from still being sleepy. I leaned in and kissed his lips softly. "Good morning," I said with a smile.
"But go back to sleep it's still early," I whispered just before I got out of bed.
"Where are you going?" he said with a frown, as his hand lay across the empty space that was now beside him. "I need to go to the bathroom," I said as I put some clothes on. I grabbed one of his flannel shirts and threw it over me since it was still cold outside.
I unzipped the tent and headed out. I went over to the porta potty that the campsite offered.
To my surprise as I got out, I saw that Zayn was awake and rummaging through the food we had. I headed over to his side.
He glanced over at me and smiled. "Hey babe," he said, somewhat squinting his eyes. I could tell he was still tired.
"Hey," I said with a soft smile as I crossed my arms, feeling the cool morning breeze. "What are you doing up so early?"
"I woke up starving. Didn't eat much last night," he said as he continued to rummage through the bag of snacks.
"Here, move, I'll make us some breakfast," I said, moving him aside. I didn't have to tell him twice. He leaned against a tree as he watched me prepare the food.
"So are you and Harry better now?" he asked after a while. I bit my bottom lip trying to hold back a big smile. I shot a glance over at him and quickly looked away. "Yeahh..." I said, a little too happily, as I remembered last night. I guess it was written all over my face because he caught on quick.
"Ohhh. Naughty, naughty," he said teasingly.
I stuck my tongue out at him and he chuckled lightly. We were silent for a while, my thoughts racing, as I finished cooking the food. "He finally told me how he felt," I said, looking over to him.
"That's great babe, I'm happy for you. I told you he'd come around soon enough." I made him a plate and handed it to him. He waited for me to put my own plate together before we went over to the picnic table to eat. We reached it and sat down, opposite of each other.
"I just...I don't know....I'm not sure about all of this," I said softly.
"Isn't this what you wanted?" he asked, looking up at me after taking a bite of his food.
"Yes, absolutely. But I'm scared of how things are going to be between us now. What if something happens? Will I lose my best friend? I don't think I'd be able to handle that...losing him."
"Don't think like that, babe. I'm sure everything will work out fine."
"I hope so..." I said looking down as I took another bite of my food.
"Hey," he said as he patted my hand from across the table, making me look up at him, "It will be. Don't worry," he reassured. I smiled. It felt good to get that off my chest.
"So last night..." I began.
"Whoa no, I don't want to know about that!" he said cutting me off putting his hands up in defense.
I started laughing. "No! Oh my god I wasn't going to talk about that!" I said blushing.
"I was GOING to say, last night....he told me he was in love with me," I said as a smile automatically formed on my face from hearing the words spoken out loud. His eyes widened. "Wow I didn't know it was that serious," he said, stunned. "I know, that's somewhat how I felt when he told me," I said with a giggle. "But then I realized I felt exactly the same way," I said, smiling. "Which then led to...." I started to say, teasingly. He covered his ears. "Nope! Don't wanna know!" he said as we both laughed. He took our empty plates and threw them in the garbage. "Well thanks for the food, now I'm going back to sleep," he said as he headed back to his tent. It amazes me how he can just do that. I on the other hand was now wide awake. I decided I'd go and sit on the boat dock, and hang my feet over the water and enjoy the morning. It was so peaceful and quiet. It was a bit chilly, but I could manage. I thought about everything that happened last night and how perfect it was. How perfect HE was. Is. I can't believe I hadn't come to realization earlier. I was so undeniably in love with him. And he was in love with me too. A smile etched across my face as my thoughts ran wild.
