20. Chapter 20

Harry P.O.V.
I pulled up to her house and shut off the engine. I turned to look at her and leaned in so that I was just inches from her face. She looked at me and I could hear that her breathing was uneven. I lingered there for a moment. I inched my way in closer. Then without warning I went for her neck as I placed my mouth on it, giving her a small love bite.
"Harry!" she squealed, giggling, putting her hand to her neck where I was sure a mark was forming. "Payback, Love," I said to her cheekily as I chuckled and got out of the car. I went to the trunk and grabbed all the groceries. She had gone up to open the door already so I followed her inside. As soon as I walked in I saw her hands had dropped to her side and her keys had fallen out of her hand and onto the floor. The house was trashed. Drawers were left open, things were thrown all over the floor and the backdoor was wide open. I dropped the groceries and went up to her instantly.
"Go wait in my car, lock the door, and call the cops," I said. She nodded, not being able to say anything. I could tell she was extremely frightened.
I carefully made my way through her house to check if anyone was in sight. I saw a baseball bat in one of the downstairs closets and grabbed it just in case. I peeked around every corner and saw that the 1st floor was clear. I made my way upstairs. I checked every possible place and still there was no one in sight. I went back downstairs and outside. I saw her in the front passenger seat with her knees up and her arms wrapped around them. She noticed I came outside and instantly got out of the car. She ran up to me and wrapped her arms around me as she began to sob. I wrapped my arms around her tightly to ensure that she felt safe.
"It's okay, Love, you're gonna be alright, you're safe with me," I whispered in to her ear to calm her down. As soon as I said that I saw a police car pull up. I walked up to the officer, never letting go of Leslie as I kept my arm around her. She still held on to me from the side as she had both her arms wrapped around my waist.
"Is everyone alright," the officer asked.
"Yes, we're fine. Who ever it was that broke in must've left before we arrived," I told the officer. He asked us a few questions like what time we left and came back to give them a time frame. I was answering all of them, as Leslie was silent, leaning against me. He made a quick scan of the house to make sure it was safe, even though I knew no one was in there.
I looked at Leslie as we waited outside. "You can stay with me as long as you need to, and until you feel safe to come back," I said to her sincerely. She nodded, tears welling up in her eyes as she said "thank you," giving me a tight hug. The officer came out giving us the all clear and asked us to see if anything was missing. I grabbed Leslie's hand and squeezed it tight as I walked with her inside. We looked around and she told the officer the few things she noticed missing. We walked in to her room and she surveyed the area. The penguin I had won her was thrown across the floor along with everything else in her room. She walked over to pick it up and held it in her arms, looking around to see if anything was missing.
"I don't see anything missing here," she said softly to the officer. He finished writing up the report and soon enough was on his way.
She called her mum to let her know what happened and to inform her that she'd be staying with me. I heard bits of the conversation and it sounded like her mum would be away for another week or so. I felt guilty being happy about this, but it meant more time Leslie would be staying with me. With my mum gone on her cruise, we'd have the house to ourselves.
She hung up with her and said she needed to go pack some things to take over to my house. I noticed the groceries were still on the floor where I had left them and went to go pick them up to put them away for her.
"No, please don't leave me, come upstairs with me," she said nervously. "We can take those to your house anyway so they won't go to waste," she said.
I nodded and went up to her side as I placed my hand on the small of her back walking with her up the stairs.
