36. Chapter 36

Zayn winced in pain as he sat down on the chair next to Victoria’s hospital bed; he smiled weakly and reached out for her hand.

“How are you feeling?” He breathed.

“Honestly I feel like crying my heart out, it’s worse not knowing where they are!” Victoria replied raucously.

“I mean… how are YOU?”

Victoria shrugged, “Drugged up to the eyeballs, can’t feel much physical pain,” She explained.

“This is gonna slow down the making up process just a tad,”

“What?! Just think with the head on your shoulders for once okay?!” She snapped bitterly, “There’s more important things to worry about,”

“I was just trying to lighten the mood,” Zayn mumbled.

“Well don’t! They could be dead and we’re…” She closed her eyes and when she opened them again a batch of new tears escaped her eyes. “Curse me not being able to move my hands,” She snivelled.

Zayn leant closer and wiped at her tears for her.

“They’ll be okay, I promise you,” He stated leaning forward and pressing his lips against hers.

“Sex in a hospital? Naughty naughty!” Liam chuckled making his way into the room closely followed by Stacey. “They’ll kick you out for that you know? Regardless of injuries and mental state,” He added glancing over at Zayn and winking.

“Screw you Payne,” Zayn chuckled sitting down on the chair next to the bed. “Any news?”

“Err, no,” Liam replied looking down at his worn converse, “No one’s seen Matt since last week either,” As though voicing the statement made him think harder, he realised, “Me and Harry did!” He almost shouted.

“What?!” Zayn sat forward in his seat.

“We got a taxi that day Louis went to the airport to get Teagan back, we drove past the cement factory and Matt was there…”

“At the cement factory?!” Victoria repeating looking over at Zayn. A few seconds past till; “The police aren’t gonna read your minds and I can’t exactly run and tell them, GO!” Victoria ordered pointing to the door.

Harry’s breathing became erratic; his hands still remained tightly grasped around the cement trowel as he heard the undoing of all the different locks on the other side of the door.

The heavy door swung open and Harry pressed his back against the wall, the light switched on and Matt stepped forward. He let his eyes wander around the room for a second and then pivoted on the spot.

With every ounce of strength Harry had left in his bruised and battered body he lunged forward with the trowel in his left hand and his right hand balled into a fist.

Harry’s first thought was to get the knife from Matt and with one quick swoop of his right hand he’d obtained the 6 inch blade.

Matt scurried across the floor as far away from Harry as he could get.

“Your biggest mistake was hurting my girlfriend,” Harry breathed in a gruff tone of voice, he backed away towards the door but kept his stare locked on Matt.

“Wh… what are you gonna do?” Matt murmured.

“What do YOU think I should do? What do YOU think’s a sufficient punishment?” Harry stepped into the dusted factory hall and bit down on his bottom lip.

“Don’t hurt me…” He pleaded.

“You are SUCH a pathetic little shit Matt,” Harry shook his head as he pulled the steel door shut, he slid the huge industrial lock across and breathed a sigh of relief as he heard Matt thrash his fists at the steel door.

He closed his eyes for a few seconds before spotting another door directly opposite him; he didn’t waste another second waiting.

He stepped forward and tugged impatiently at the lock; he pushed it open and stepped inside the dark and depressing room.

“Don’t… just… leave me alone,” Molly begged weakly.

“It’s me baby,” Harry soothed feeling along the wall for a light.
“Harry I… I can’t move,” Molly cried.

“Just one…” His hand found the light and he quickly turned it on, he breathed a sigh of relief and turned his attention to Molly.

She was in a bad way, her legs were covered in deep cuts and her hands were tied in front of her. Dried blood had begun clotting in her blonde hair and her eyes were blood shot red.

“Oh baby, look at you,” He breathed dismissing his own pain.

He leant down and scooped her into arms, “Come on,”

“I was so scared…” She muttered burying her face in his chest. “I was so scared he’d hurt you!”

Four armed police men scattered outside the cement factory, two made their way inside the building moving stealthily against the walls.

One signalled to the other and the larger of the two police men aimed his gun at the corridor as Harry and Molly emerged from the darkness.

“You couldn’t have come… an hour earlier?” Harry mumbled breathlessly, a police man rushed forward and examined Molly in his arms. He radio’d into the station to request an ambulance as the larger police man slowly made his way down the corridor towards the room Harry had locked Matt in.

“She’s lost… a lot of blood…” Harry seemed breathless as he lay her down on the concrete floor, his hand still holding onto hers. “She was awake… but she’s not… she’s asleep right? Just asleep?”

“Sir can you give her a little room,” The police man urged, he pulled off his jacket and rolled it into a ball to put under her head. He felt for a pulse and stared down at his wrist watch. “Are you okay to walk?”

“I’m not leaving h…her,” Harry choked.

“Sir the ambulance will be here in a couple of minutes, some of my colleagues are outside waiting for y-“

“I said I’m not… leaving her… not till I know she’s okay,”

The police man stared at him for a few seconds before nodding slowly, “Are you sure?”

“Positive,” Harry breathed weakly, the pain in his entire body was overwhelming, every intake of breath caused him vast amounts of pain, even muscle that moved ached.
