Good Luck Charm (Book 1)

“3…2…1…” I told myself and flung open the door. No one was there, that was strange. I stepped outside to see if they were hiding behind one of the bushes, but tripped on something, I nearly fell down the stairs. Good think they invented railings, or I wouldn’t have had a firm grip on anything... “Perrie… you have a little bit more to worry about..." Danielle slowly said as she looked at the ground. There, on the ground was a large package, which looked full of something. On the outside it was clearly marked in thick, red marker: Leave the boys alone! If you contact them, I will hurt you.

Perrie’s point of view

After we said bye to the boys, we decided to was time to get up. Amber got out a frying pan, and said what was on the menu: pancakes, bacon and eggs. Yummy! I sat on a barstool, feeling rather helpless as I watched Eleanor make the pancake batter and Amber get the eggs out of the fridge. Danielle was doing her hair, so I felt almost that I was in the way.

“I miss Zayn already,” I murmured, trying to strike up conversation. “We should do this more often while the boys are away; it keeps my mind of the boys and everything.” I sighed, and shivered. The tank top I was wearing wasn’t keeping me warm, so I quickly grabbed myself a sweater and pulled it over top. That felt better. I knew that maybe I should get changed into some proper clothes, but I loved my pyjama pants way too much.

“I know! It’s like the perfect remedy of missing someone special to you,” Eleanor agreed with me. “What do you say, Amber?”

“I totally agree! You guys actually understand a lot more than my friends from America, and I feel comfortable around you guys,” Amber explained.

“I know! It’s weird, hey?” I piped in. I had exactly the same thing; all my friends from school just weren’t the same to me after Xfactor.

“Very… so being around you guys is kind of better. You guys know what it’s like to put your name in Google and there is a thousand disgusting images of yourself that sneaky people took.”

“Oh! I hate it when they do that!” I said. “Especially on those days when I look horrible!”

“They always do it when you least expect it,” Eleanor laughed at us a little, since Perrie and I were a little new to it all.  “But I do agree, it’s the most annoying thing ever!”

“What’s annoying?” Danielle asked as she came into the room. Her hair was almost perfectly done, and she was wearing some skinny jeans that made her look so much taller. She was a tall person, and super skinny, so why was I so amazed this one time? Maybe it’s because of her complete transformation in just under an hour.

“When people take our pictures when we least expect it and put it online,” Amber filled her in as she put the eggs on the pan. “How do you guys like your eggs?”

We placed our orders just as the doorbell rang. I offered to get it, so I ran to the front door. I undid the first bolt, and then the second. Before I opened the door, I flattened my hair a little bit, knowing that besides that guest there just might be a few fans looking to get a picture. I had a bad feeling though that this picture was going to be embarrassing.

“3…2…1…” I told myself and flung open the door. No one was there, that was strange. I stepped outside to see if they were hiding behind one of the bushes, but tripped on something, I nearly fell down the stairs. Good think they invented railings, or I wouldn’t have had a firm grip on anything.

“Are you okay, Perrie?!” Danielle asked as she saw me clinging to the railing, frantically trying not to fall.

“Ummm… I think so,” I lifted myself up, and wiped off my pants, embarrassed to see a few cameras flashing at the driveway. My face turned red. “What did I trip on?”

“Perrie… you have a little bit more to worry about than you falling in your pyjamas,” Danielle slowly said as she looked at the ground. There, on the ground was a large package, which looked full of something. On the outside it was clearly marked in thick, red marker: Leave the boys alone! If you contact them, I will hurt you.

I screamed, and Danielle trembled. It took a few more moments for Amber and Eleanor to come, but when they did we were all terrified.

“I… I should call someone,” I finally said as I pulled out my phone. “the police? Or security?”

“Police AND security,” Danielle said in a shaky voice. “Hurry… whoever did this might still be around.”
