Good Luck Charm (Book 1)

“3…2…1…” I told myself and flung open the door. No one was there, that was strange. I stepped outside to see if they were hiding behind one of the bushes, but tripped on something, I nearly fell down the stairs. Good think they invented railings, or I wouldn’t have had a firm grip on anything... “Perrie… you have a little bit more to worry about..." Danielle slowly said as she looked at the ground. There, on the ground was a large package, which looked full of something. On the outside it was clearly marked in thick, red marker: Leave the boys alone! If you contact them, I will hurt you.

10. Hurt

Nialls point of view

I watched as the girls sat down on their seats. My heart did a little flutter. I loved Amber so much, and I would do anything to protect her. At least the fans now knew that we all loved our girlfriends.

I kept staring and singing mindlessly until something hit my head. Owww! It was really hard. I felt the spot and felt something wet. Looking for what hit me, I swore underneath my breath. At least the spotlight wasn’t on me. A rock eventually found my feet. It had a message: I warned the girls, and now I warn you. I am going to hurt somebody if this continues. I yelped and picked up the rock, my hand never left my head because it was gushing blood. Boy, was I getting a headache! I made my way to the stage door, ignoring the questioning looks from the boys.

“Niall! Your heads bleeding!” Paul gasped at me. “What hit you?!”

“That’s not the worst of it…” I handed him the rock, the writing faced up.

“That’s it. Those girls are getting out of their seats and coming backstage. You, Niall, are quickly going to apologize to the fans and say that you have to leave. I’ll drive you to the hospital.”

“Thanks but…”

“No ‘buts’… that’s a nasty cut. I’ll radio the lights so you aren’t in the spotlight.”

“Okay…” I went back on. The boys gave me concerned looks as they saw the blood seeping from my head. I stayed in the shadows, and motioned for the music to be cut. “Hi guys! I’m sorry but I have to leave now. Zayn, harry, Louis and Liam will give a spectacular show without me!” I waved, ignoring the boos of disappointment. From the corner of my eye I saw the girls being led away.

Liam came up to me before I left the stage. “What happened?”

“A rock hit me… pass this on to the boys: we have been threatened again, girls taken backstage. This is serious…”

Liam gave a sad face and nodded. “Thanks… have fun in the hospital!” He hit my shoulder for support and I offered a weak smile. My head was hurting like crazy. I thought that at any moment I would pass out.

When I got to the door to the backstage, Paul was there.

“Change of plans, you’re going in an ambulance,” Paul said as he opened the door and led Niall to a chair backstage.

“This can’t be happening!” I angrily snarled and sat down hoping Amber didn’t come to see me like this.

Amber’s point of view

I was slightly confused when the security guards said we had to go backstage, but then I saw Niall leave the stage too. Something must be up, I thought. When we opened the backstage doors the first thing I saw Niall sitting on a leather chair with a cloth to his head. The cloth used to be white, but now it was soaked with blood.

“What happened?” I demanded as I ran over to his side and sat on the floor beside the chair.

“Someone threw a rock at me,” Niall grunted as he looked up to me. His eyes looked full of pain. My heart ached.

“Nialler! I’ll go and hurt whoever did this to you!” I instantly said, and then held his hand. “It must hurt, though, hey?”

“It’s a terrible pain,” Niall agreed as he gritted his teeth.

“The ambulance is nearly here,” Paul said as he got off his phone. Ambulance?! What?

“I’ll go with him to the hospital,” I quickly volunteered.

“No! No need,” Niall quickly said. “Paul can come with me, I’ll be fine.”

“I want to go, Niall,” I whispered in a small voice. “I want to go because I love you so much. I’ll even hold your hand as you get the stitches.”
