Good Luck Charm (Book 1)

“3…2…1…” I told myself and flung open the door. No one was there, that was strange. I stepped outside to see if they were hiding behind one of the bushes, but tripped on something, I nearly fell down the stairs. Good think they invented railings, or I wouldn’t have had a firm grip on anything... “Perrie… you have a little bit more to worry about..." Danielle slowly said as she looked at the ground. There, on the ground was a large package, which looked full of something. On the outside it was clearly marked in thick, red marker: Leave the boys alone! If you contact them, I will hurt you.

Amber's Point of View

Black, thick darkness surrounded me. I couldn’t move, I couldn’t scream. A black hand circled around my neck, choking me. I tried to run, but I couldn’t. there was nothing I could do…

“Amber!” I woke up with a start, to realize the black darkness was just a dream. Phew! But who was calling me? I felt a hand on my stomach, and I looked up to see Niall. It was hard to see in the darkness, but his blue eyes lightened up the darkness. His face was full of concern. Wait… was he watching me sleep??

“What?” I moaned as I tried to make sense of why Niall was in my room.

“The house… it’s on fire!” Niall whispered to me urgently. Instantly I sat up straight. A fire?! What?! “We just need to get on our knees and crawl to the back entrance,” Niall instructed.

“What?!!!” adrenaline rushed through my body. “There can’t be a fire!” I resisted him as he took my wrist and tried to pull me down to the ground. Suddenly I was aware of the blaring of smoke alarms, of the dark smoke pluming around us.

“There is,” Niall gently said. “Now, we have to get down.”

I was now fully awake, so before I let Niall pull me down I reached for my cellphone and put it in my pocket of my pyjamas. I still couldn’t understand that everything I owned was burning down, right before my eyes. I wanted to cry, but I couldn’t.

Niall directed us to the back door, and then to the front yard. Neighbours and onlookers had already gathered.

“Here,” Niall instructed, his voice was full of care. I must have been full of smoke, but he didn’t care as he hugged me tight. The tears finally came. I couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t bear to see the house, so I directed my attention to his eyes. I ignored the fire truck and the firemen, and I ignored the police as they screamed in and the paramedics who insisted looking at me to make sure I wasn’t hurt.

Though, I was soon forced away from Niall. His shirt was stained with my tears, and smoke. He looked half-asleep, but cute at the same time.

Eleanor’s Point of View

As soon as I got the text from Niall, I got dressed and sped over to his house. His house was on fire, and Amber was obviously in need of my support. It was the early morning, so it was hard to concentrate on the road.

Soon I got to Niall’s house, the street was blocked off, but once I said I was Niall’s friend, I was let through. I parked at a safe distance where I wouldn’t be in the way. The house caught me off guard. The elaborate house which I always envied was up in flames. It looked as if nothing would be recoverable.

I put that past me, that moment of grief, and then ran over to Amber. She was sitting on the lawn, speechlessly watching on. Niall was talking to the police, so I had some time with Amber. When I sat down beside her she didn’t say anything, she just hugged me, and I hugged her back. We both silently cried, before I offered for her to come and sleep at my house. She accepted, told Niall, and soon went back to my house.

It was eerily quiet, and Amber made her way speechlessly towards the spare room and I found some new pyjamas for her to wear. Though, when I knocked on the door to give her the clothes, she was already fast asleep…

Ambers Point of View

I awoke to the smell of coffee. I was in Eleanor’s spare bedroom; I always loved this room because the bed was comfy. Why was I here anyways? Right. It hit me suddenly, and the tears started to come. Right before I started to break down Niall entered with two cups of coffee, he wordlessly gave me one and sat on the bed.

“They found the people who set the fire. It was the same girls who were threatening you,” Niall explained. I took a sip of coffee and nodded. I was trying to process it.

                “That’s good.”

“Yeah… but, Amber,” Niall said. He put his coffee down on his lap, and looked right into my eyes.

“What?” I sensed something bad was going to happen…

“there is nothing left of the house, and most of our possessions burnt up.” His voice hurt, and tears were in his eyes. It hurt me to see Niall cry.

“Oh…” I looked into my coffee so he wouldn’t see my tears. I felt his finger lift up my chin, so I looked at him, deep into his eyes. I was really sad, I didn’t want to cry. Hadn’t I cried up all my tears last night?

                “Promise me something.”

“Anything,” I whispered in a small voice.

“that we will work together to start a new life…”

My heart nearly stopped, what was he saying? He got off of the bed, and knelt down on one knee.

“Amber, will you marry me?” he reached out of his pocket and took out a diamond ring. I gasped. I was in shock. Did Niall just ask me to marry him?!

“YES!” I screeched, and lunged forward to hug him and kiss him, spilling my coffee. I didn’t care. I was going to become Mrs. Horan! The crazy stalker girls were now gone, the house I had lived in was gone, and all my possessions were ruined. But, Niall and I were going to start a new life together… married!
