Live While You're Young

Mavis was a normal girl. Went to high school, was in show choir, had friends, and enemies, and loved One Direction. When she enters a competition to meet them, her life gets flipped upside down. Mavis will have to chose between her love or her friends. Which will she chose?

1. Singing contest? Im in!

I was standing on a stage. People were screaming and holding up signs with my name on them. They were yelling, "Mavis! We love you!" I smiled, lowered the mic in my hand, and caught my breath. I waved to the fans and slowly walked off stage. My boyfriend greeted me with a hug.

"You did amazing," he said in his deep British accent.

"Thanks, Harry." I smiled wrapping my arms around him. He did the same.

"Miss Lawrence," he said. I looked at him confused. He never called me that.

"Miss Lawrence!" he yelled. But this time in a female, American accent. I shook my head and I can out of my silly day dream. I was back at school. All my classmates were staring at me. My teacher was standing in front of the classroom, staring me down like I just cussed out the whole room.

"Sorry Mrs. Rush," I apologized, "What was the question?" She rolled her eyes at me then got back to the lesson. "I said, 'What important moment happened on April 30, 1803?" She asked. My head started pounding. I had no clue what the answer was. The really cute boy behind me secretly passed me a note. I saw what it said and read it out loud.

"By a treaty signed on April 30, 1803, the United States purchased from France the Louisiana Territory?" I questioned the answer I gave. "That's correct," Mrs. Rush said back.

After class, the boy came up behind me. "Hey, I'm Conner," he introduced. "I'm Mavis. I smiled, "Thanks for earlier."

"No big deal, Mrs. Rush can be a pain sometimes," he joked. I giggled. We stopped at my show choir room.
"Well, if you need any help with History, text me sometime," he said handing me a piece of paper with his number on it. I thanked him and walked into class. Everyone was screaming and freaking out. I found my friend Leah and asked what was going on.

"You didn't hear?" she excited yelled," One Direction is having a contest to open for them for their new tour!" My eyes got wide and I started freaking out. "Are you going to enter?"

"Enter a singing contest to open for my favorite band? Heck Yes!" I yelled.

The second I got home, I ran up stairs and opened my laptop. Leah gave me a sheet of paper that had the link on it. I filled out the form as fast as I could. I hovered the mouse over the Submit button. "This is really happening," I thought,"I'm really going to preform in front of One Direction" I was scared. What if I totally embarrassed myself? Then the boys would think I was a total weirdo. But on the other hand, I might actually be able to open for One Direction! Before I could think anymore about it, my mother called me downstairs for dinner.

"So, how was your day, Lily?" dad asked my baby sister. "Okay," she said quietly. She was one of those ten-year-old that thought they knew everything and never talked to family.

"What about you Mavie?" Dad always called me 'Mavie' ever since I was a little girl. "Well, this cute guy gave me his number today," I said. Both mom and dad stopped eating and looked up at me. Like the way Mrs. Rush did in History today.

"His name?" dad asked being nosy as always.

"Conner," I answered, "But that's not all. Mom, you know how I want to be a singer?"

"Yes," she answered. "Well, there is a competition coming up for teenagers ages fifteen to nineteen to audition to open for One Direction, " I explained, "and I think I want to do it."

"One Direction is stupid," Lily said under her breath.

"Shut up brat!" I yelled. Mom and dad laughed.

"Well, if it's something you really want, I guess I'm okay with it," my mom said, "Dan?"

Dad looked up at me. I looked at him with puppy dog eyes and a pouted lip. " It's fine with me. Just don't get to serious with curly." I jumped up screaming. I gave my mom and dad a kiss on the cheek and stuck my tounge out in my sister's face. I quickly ran upstairs and opened my laptop. I clicked the Submit button, sat back on my bed, and stared at all the posters in my room. "I did it," I thought," I'm going to sing in front of the biggest band. I'm going to sing for One Direction. It's now or never."
