Being A Vampire Bites

Elizabeth, 15 year-old teenage vampire, has been around since the 1700s, getting assigned to various vampire families so she can remain undetected. Elizabeth just lost her previous foster parents and for the first time in her life she has been assigned to a human family. The VA (Vampire Association) tell her that no matter what she'll have to keep the fact that she's a vampire a secret from them. To make the transition harder, she finds herself crushing on a human boy. Find out what she'll do to protect her secret from the people she now calls family.

2. The Next Day

"Huh? Where am I? What happened?" I ask sleepily to no one in particular.

"Oh, goodie your awake. Your still under some of the effects of the tranquilizer gun, but it'll wear off in about a half hour or so. As to where you are, I'm afraid I'm not authorized to give you that information." A woman says with a kind voice, but I can see in her eyes that she'd rather be somewhere else. I look around for the first time and realize I'm strapped to a bed unable to move in a completely white room, with next to nothing to to even look at.

"Uh, what am I supposed to do to help pass the time away, miss, uh-"

"Sonter, but please, call me Mary." She says with the same kind tone. She then holds her hand out to shake mine, then pulls it back, apparently just noticing why that would really irritate me.

"Well, the authorities didn't want you to start your new life by keeping to your self. Now, how about you tell me about yourself?" I didn't want to tell her anything, it's not like it would effect anything. I knew they had everything in a file somewhere, but this was basically just a test to see if I would cooperate or not. I figured if the people in charge weren't going to give me entertainment, I might as well get a laugh out of it.

"Well, my names Lizzy, I'm an only child, I live in Alabama, and I'm allergic to chocolate. Oh, I almost forgot, I'm a vampire." I expected her to either laugh at me or freak out at that last bit of information. Neither happened, she just wrote something down, said goodbye, and left the room, making me wonder what's really going on around here. The next day I'm finally told where I am and why I'm here. It turns out I'm in the building owned by the VAA, or Vampire Association of Alabama, and I'm currently in their care until a new family is assigned to me. It surprised me how I didn't think of that. It wasn't until after I thought more about the reason why she was here, that I remembered what happened to my parents. They're dead, they're really gone, I thought with tears in my eyes. I'll never taste my mother's homemade peanut butter pecan balls or see my dad's funny dances whenever we listen to Bon Jovi. I'll never again feel the warm hugs I get when I'm down and they're trying to cheer me up, or the poor advice they try to give me about relationships. I can't believe this. With those things in mind I ended the day, crying myself to sleep.
