1. The Hand You Hold

I feel what you feel

I speak words that cannot be heard

I brush my fingers against your face

To assure you that you’re okay

I, the same hand that is so beautiful

Is the same hand that takes away your life

And sucks away the last breaths in you

That holds the gun pointed at your chest

Or the knife ready to slice off your neck

I, this very hand, also stops the violence with a signature

And I brush beautiful fingers of different patterns through your hair

I pull you close and touch your lips

Then hold your beautiful hand

I hold the sword and cut the rope that was once holding us bondage

I kill the sins, merciless, with one hand in one bloody war

You show your love with one ring you

Place upon the finger you say is beautiful

Blood drips from our hands that now hold victory, peace and love

I touch your face, you touch mine

And leave all our dreaded past behind

I am the hand that kills and destroys

I, the same hand that is so beautiful

Is the same hand that takes away your life

I feel what you feel

I speak words that cannot be heard

I brush my fingers against your face

I am the hand you hold in raging storms

Rain or sun, good or bad

I am beautifully and wonderfully made by God

I am full of lovely patterns

I feel what you feel
