49. Ice

As I placed my cutlery onto the large circular plate that rested on the table in front of me, I slowly turned around to the large ice covered window behind me. The view wasn't much; just a few pigeons flying around the grounds making a slight screeching sound. The sun had gone down so it was a lot harder to see things clearly, especially as there was a thin layer of ice on the other side of the glass window.
Happy and content that I didn't see anything out of the ordinary, I turned back finding that Declan was falling off his chair, shaking as he did so. Screaming and shouting flew wildly around the room, as Declan was not only falling off but was reciting something unusual in Latin. Only knowing a few words I realised the gist of what he was saying. It was something like "beware of the beast" or "the devil is coming". By the time I had realised this, something interesting caught the corner of my eye. It was a tallish, burnt being running out of our living room, just next door.
Connor was kneeling down beside Declan's violently shaking body, crying. When I tried to look for my so called, beloved father, I realised that he had gone, looking for some help and of course an experienced doctor, who could help Declan.
