1. Secrets Untold

I was on the bus on my way to work when I ran into John, my ex. He’s tall, almost six feet; he practically towers over my five foot three body. He’s very handsome. His body is perfectly toned and his dark brown hair falls perfectly over his forehead. His big, round brown eyes always made me melt whenever he looked at me. We had dated for a while; five years to be exact. We had a great relationship; a lot of things in common and we rarely ever fought. Our relationship was one of the ‘dream come true’ moments. It seemed perfect and unbreakable, but one day, though, we broke up out of nowhere. It was very sudden and surprising. He told me that he just suddenly changed his mind about us. I really thought we were perfect for each other, but apparently he thought otherwise. It has been almost a month since I’ve seen him last. I really dreaded this exact moment, but I knew it was inevitable. He smiled when he saw me and I walked up to him.

“Hi Jessica, you look great!” He said with a huge smile on his face. He looked me up and down and I knew what he was thinking, ‘She gained weight’. My hand instinctively went to my stomach.

“Hi John,” I smiled. “You’re looking great too. How have you been?” I asked.

“I’ve been okay; how about you?” He asked. I looked at my stomach.

“I’ve been good.” I was debating on whether or not to tell him.

“So I’ve been meaning to call you.” He said as if he was getting on a serious topic.

      “About what?” I asked.

“Us…” He answered. I swallowed hard. I instantly went from being nervous to sad. I didn’t want to talk about this, but I knew I had to one day or another.

“What’s there to talk about? You broke up with me remember?” I said looking away from him.

“Yes I know I did…and it was a huge mistake.”He said slowly. My heart swelled up. Is he seriously doing this now? Here? I couldn’t think of anything to say. “I miss you Jessica…a lot. I can’t get you out of my head; you’re even in my dreams. I made a huge mistake that I so greatly regret. I should have never let you go and I really hope that I can get a chance to win you back.” I was frozen. I had no response. His face saddened when I didn’t respond. It made my heart break when I saw him just the tiniest bit hurt.

When I smiled his face immediately brightened. “I miss you too; so, so much.” His face turned up into a huge smile.

“Jessica, would you please do me this huge honor? Take me back?” My smile grew when the words slipped between his lips and out of his mouth.

“Of course I will.” He smiled and leaned in. He kissed me, long and hard. It was like he has never kissed me before. It feels like I have waited an eternity to feel this feeling again. It is my favorite feeling in the world.
“I love you Jessica.” He whispered his soft, sweet breath on top of my lips. I looked up into his pure brown eyes and smiled. He looked true, and real, and perfect. Tears started to spill over.

“I love you too; so much.” I whispered back. I heard some people on the bus ‘Awe’. It made me smile even more.

The bus stopped and it was time for me to get off. I looked from John, to the doors, to my stomach, then back at John.

“This is my stop, but before I go I need to tell you something.”

“What is it?” He asked, concern filling his eyes. I took a deep breath and then whispered in his ear.

“I’m pregnant.” It took him a minute to process it, but by the time he did I was already off the bus and walking to work. I heard him running after me.

“Jessica wait!” He yelled. I turned around, tears streaking my face. He caught up to me. “We…we’re…preg…” He couldn’t finish his sentence. I nodded to save him the trouble. His breath caught. I could already hear him saying, ‘No way, I’m not taking care of a baby.’ When words started to spill out of his mouth I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. “This is great! Fantastic!” He said with such enthusiasm it almost made me cry.

“Really?” I asked not believing it.

“Yes, well, as long as you’re happy about it…” He said hesitantly, not sure of my decision. My entire face lit up, from the corner of my mouth to my bright blue eyes.

“I was just as ecstatic when I found out.” I smiled. He mirrored my expression.

“Well that’s great! We can raise him…or her…together. Do you know what the sex is?” He asked. I placed a hand on my stomach and looked down in awe. I tilted my head up at him, a smile on my face.

“We’re having a baby girl.” The widest grin was placed upon his lips.

“A baby girl; that’s perfect!” He placed a hand on my stomach. “I bet she’ll look as beautiful as her mom.” A smile crept upon my mouth. He leaned down and kissed me. It was soft and sweet. “Marry me.” His soft lips whispered upon mine. My eyes met his.

“Of course I will.” I smiled.
