18. Chapter 18

Chapter 18

‘WHAT!?’ Lexi screamed with her eyes about to jump out of their sockets. I stared at her wide-eyed with surprise but then my face turned into a small smile.

‘You heard me.’ The smile slowly grew bigger.

‘So, you’re telling me that you have a date in 2 hours with Zayn Effing Malik?’ She questioned.

‘Yup.’ I said while nodding my head.

‘AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!’ Her high-pitched scream shattered the whole room. I didn’t brace myself for her scream so now my eardrums are bleeding to death.

‘Lexi!’ I yelled at her with my hands covering my ears.

‘Sorry, but I just- OMGOMGOMG!’ She jumped around excitedly. I’ve never seen her fangirl before, I guess everything has a first.

‘Lex, calm down. It’s only a date and it’s only Zayn.’ I tried to reason with her.

Only a date? Only Zayn? What is wrong with you!? Do you know how many girls would kill for your life right now? It’s Zayn Malik. The sex god that can sing like sex from one Direction is taking you out on a date. You are so goddamn lucky! AAAAAAH!’ She yelled and screamed and squealed. I laughed lightly at her behaviour.

‘But Lex, it’s Zayn! He’s our friend now, you don’t need to go all crazy. I thought you were comfortable with being friends with him? Why are you going crazy?’ I chuckled again.

‘Sorry, that was my fangirl side kicking in. But as a friend of Zayn Malik, I am required to say: about f*cking time!’ She sighed loudly.

‘What do you mean ‘about f*cking time’?’ I said with my eyebrows slightly furrowed.

‘I mean, you’re so stupid for not seeing you and Zayn are perfect together!’ She explained.

‘Because me and Zayn aren’t perfect together. This is only a date, Lex. A date!’ I reasoned with her. Because honestly, I think it is only a date. It’s only one date.

‘A date that will lead to eternity!’ She grinned with sparkles in her eyes. I rolled my eyes at her.

‘Are you gonna help me get ready for this or what?’ I said, walking over to my closet.

‘Well duh. You need my expertise.’ She replied, following me.

I turned the light on and stared at all my clothes. What the hell am I going to wear? He said something comfortable, right? Does that mean a comfortable dress or just comfortable in general? Ugh, first dates are hard. You have to work off your ass to impress but not over-impress. You have to get everything perfect. Everything.

‘I don’t know what to wear!’ I groaned.

‘What did he say to wear?’ She asked me as she rummaged through the clothes hanging there.

‘Something comfortable.’ I muttered.

She didn’t respond. She just walked out. I stared after her retreating figure and just stood there, waiting for her to come back. She came back in wordlessly after a few minutes and pulled out a black singlet with a light pink cross slashed over it. Then she skimmed through more clothes and pulled out light blue denim tights. She bit her lip in an indecisive way and pulled out a nude coloured blazer with sleeves that are rolled up to just under my elbow. She then grabbed a pair of ballet flats the same colour as the blazer.

‘Put these on.’ She threw all items of clothing at me.

I wasn’t prepared so I never caught any of it. I sighed and picked it all off the carpeted floor and headed to my bed. I laid the clothes on top and started to strip. I put on the clothes she handed me and looked at myself in the mirror. I looked over myself and smiled in approval. This girl sure knows how to pick clothes. The outfit looked so gorgeous!

‘Wow, Lex. This is beautiful!’ I said as I turned to her in awe.

She nodded her head and ushered me towards her. I walked over without another word and she gave me final touches. By the look on her face, I can see her going into the stylist zone. Her face was contorted with concentration and criticism. I sighed internally as I stood in front of her with no movement. She pushed me down on the bed and ordered me to close my eyes. Of course I obeyed, she would’ve ripped my arms and legs off if I didn’t. I felt brushes swipe across my face and heat radiating off my hair. All I could hope was that she put hardly any make up on. I never really liked make up. It was overused and annoying.

‘Done!’ She said suddenly and my eyes shot open at her chirpiness. I walked over to the mirror and my eyes widened at what I saw.

The girl staring back at me looked nothing like me. She was way more beautiful than me. Her sort of dirty blonde hair (A/N I dunno if I mentioned her hair colour but it’s this. And it’s not exactly dirty blonde. It’s Cara Delevingne’s hair colour.) was in small waves and it just hung around her face, framing it. Her make up was exactly right. It wasn’t too much nor was it too little. Her lips were amber rose, her cheeks were a peachy colour, her hazel eyes was brought out by heavy eyeliner and mascara and her eyelids were coated in rosy pink mascara.

‘Wow.’ I breathed out. ‘Is that me?’ I blurted out. I had to ask to make sure. Because this girl looked nothing like me. She was so beautiful that her name couldn’t be Clara-Rose Flemming.

‘Of course it’s you. You’re beautiful, Rose.’ She smiled as she stood behind me in the mirror. The doorbell rang and I finally got the nerves kick in. I breathed heavily and I looked at Lexi in nervousness.

‘Rose, you don’t need to be nervous.’ She said as she looked into my eyes. I calmed down as I looked into her blue ones. (A/N i don’t even know if that’s her eye colour. wtf.)

‘Thanks, Lex. For everything.’ I smiled at her. I grabbed my phone and put it into my pocket and walked out of to the front door. I opened the door to find Zayn with a bouquet of pink roses. I blushed because these are my favourites.

‘Wow.’ He gasped as he looked me over. I blushed again.

‘You looked beautiful, Rosie.’ He whispered and he smiled while looking straight into my eyes.

‘Thank you.’ I smiled back.

‘Here you go.’ He handed me the flowers and I took it off him. I put the flowers to my face and inhaled the scent.

‘I love pink roses.’ I murmured. I saw Zayn’s eyes lit up.

‘Really? I never knew. It was a wild guess.’ He said as his smile grew bigger.

‘Well, lucky guess.’ I winked. I grabbed his hand and pulled him inside before going off to find a vase. I found one, filled up with water and put the flowers in. I quickly put them on my bedside table in my room and walked out to Zayn.

‘Ready?’ He asked and I nodded.

‘Bye Lex!’ I shouted before closing the door.

*le skip to the important part of the date*

‘Let’s go, my lady.’ He said as he bowed over with his hand held out. A small giggle escaped me as I took his hand.

‘Thank you, kind sir.’ I said with another giggle.

Once out of the car, I took in the scenery before me. We were in a deserted park that look somewhat secretive. It looked like no one ever really came here. It was a little dark but I could distinctively make out a picnic rug in the middle of the clearing. There was a small park off to the side and there were trees in a circle all around the place. We had a small dinner just before we came here. We each had a big mac from mcdonald’s and there we just sat laughing as we had a competition on who can eat the fastest. He won. Then it took us 20 minutes to get here.

‘What is this place?’ I asked Zayn. A small smile tugged at his lips.

‘I found this place when I went here for vacation a couple of years ago. No one ever really came here. But sometimes I come here at night and to just... think.’ He replied. I smiled at how he liked to be alone sometimes.

‘Do the boys know about this place?’ I asked him, nonchalantly.

‘No. Only me. I haven’t taken anyone here before.’ He said as he thought over it. I raised an eyebrow.

‘So I’m the first person you took here?’ I asked him.

‘Yes. Which is surprising because this is my place.’ He shrugged.

‘That’s so sweet.’ I smiled and started walking forwards.

‘Did you put that rug there?’ I questioned him.

‘Yes. I was here this morning and I left it there. I never really knew I was going to bring you here. It was literally a last minute decision.’ He replied. He grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the rug. He sank down and sat with his legs crossed. I sat down in front of him. We sat in a comfortable silence for a bit then he hesitantly took my hand.

‘This is nice, you know.’ I smiled at him.

‘Yeah, it is.’ He murmured but he looked like he wasn’t paying attention.

His eyes were fixated on me. I couldn’t help but stare back. And for once, my mind wasn’t going crazy. It was blank. It was full on blank and all I could see was his face. His hazel eyes, his pearly whites, his jet black hair, the stubble on his jaw, his long eyelashes, his perfectly shaped nose. Everything was etched into my head.

I slowly readjusted my position and I laid down on my back. My hand was still entwined with his as I stared up into the dark night. I could feel his gaze on me but I just stared at the sky. It was dark but bright. The moon was full and it was shining brightly on the ground. The stars were all out from here and they were twinkling in the moonlight.

‘The sky looks pretty.’ I murmured as I traced my finger along stars to make a picture.

I heard Zayn murmur something unintelligible but it sound something like ‘you look pretty’ but I’m not sure.

‘What?’ I asked him.

‘Nothing.’ He replied and he laid down next to me.

And we just laid there for 20 minutes. Not saying a single word. Just smiling as we looked up in the sky. Smiling as we held hands. Smiling as we rolled onto our sides and just looked at each other in the eyes. Even though no words were said, it was the most amazing date ever. Especially with the stars twinkling in the sky.

‘Psst.’ Zayn hissed. I looked over to him and he had a goofy grin stretched across his face.

‘Psst what?’ I hissed back.

‘You have sticks in your hair.’ He said with his goofy grin. Instinctively, my hands went up to my hair frantically. My face was contorted with panic and wide eyes. When I felt my hair was clear of sticks, I smacked his arm.

‘Ow!’ He hissed in pain.

‘Puh-lease. Like that hurt.’ I rolled my eyes. ‘And that’s what you get for lying to me!’ I said with a frown.

‘I wasn’t lying, I just said a line that could have been true but it wasn’t.’ He smirked smugly.

‘Which all comes under the word lying.’ I said with a confident nod.

‘I dunno, man. I beg to differ.’ He said.

‘Beg to differ, my ass.’ I rolled my eyes.

‘What about your ass?’ His eyebrows wiggled.

‘Don’t go around imagining my ass. That doesn’t happen on first dates.’ I said with a playful slap on his arms.

‘Well, once you say ‘my ass’ all guys are entitled to imagine it. It’s in our nature.’ He shrugged his shoulders. I sat up and turned around to face him.

‘You boys are so perverted.’ I sighed. He propped himself up on his elbow and wrapped his other arm around my waist.

‘It’s not perverted, it’s just having crazy imaginations of girls parts.’ He wiggled his eyebrows again. I slapped his arm, harder this time.

‘That’s disgusting, Zayn.’ I scoffed.

‘Yeah, that was.’ He agreed. I rolled my eyes and checked the time on my phone.

‘It’s almost one in the morning.’ I said in realisation. His eyebrows knitted together as he checked his phone.

‘It is.’ He said with shock clear in his voice. ‘Woah, the time flew by.’ He commented as he stood up from a rug and held out his hand to help me. I grabbed it and hoisted myself up.

‘I know right, it felt like it was only an hour or two.’ I sighed as we walked back over to the car. He opened the door for me like a gentleman and I giggled as I got in. He walked around and hopped into the drivers’ seat.

‘I’ll never get over the stars here. You can never see stars in LA.’ I sighed as I looked up through the window.

‘There are only certain parts in London where you can see them. You just have to be away from the city.’ He said and I sighed. I closed my eyes and I randomly thought of my mom. I wish you were here, I thought.

‘Rosie, we’re here.’ I opened my eyes and I realised I fell asleep. I lazily got out of the car after Zayn opened the door. I sighed and stretched out my joints. Zayn grabbed my hand and reeled me to my apartment. Once we reached my door, I turned to him.

‘Thanks for the date, Zayn.’ I smiled sweetly.

‘You’re welcome, Rose. I’m so glad you enjoyed it.’ He said with a bit of relief.

‘Of course I enjoyed it. It was by far the best date I’ve ever been on.’ I smiled big.

‘I’m glad I made it to the top.’ He winked and I just rolled my eyes.

‘Good night, Zayn.’ I said and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

‘What? No kisses on first dates? You’re just playing hard to get now, Rose.’ He said with sarcasm.

‘You know it.’ I winked and walked into my apartment with the biggest smile on my face.

Please don’t be mad at me. I know it took a while. I’ve been busy and busy and lazy and busy. So don’t be mad, kay.
