The Day that Changed my Life

Kade, an indonesian girl, suffers from the loss of her parents. She is shipped off to be adopted, but where will she go, who will she meet and how will she survive?

WOW.WOW.WOW.WOW. I'm actually going shopping, in ENGLAND! It has been the biggest surprise of the day! I couldn't stop jumping up and down, and even Kade commented on my hyper energy. I couldn't have been more excited...

...And now I'm seated in a train (a train!) on my way to Westfield Shopping Centre with Kade. I've never heard of Westfield before in my life. Apparently, it's this really cool shopping centre with many floors - even a cinema - and it has every shop you can think of. Too bad I don't know the name of any. Indonesia doesn't have shops like England. Just stalls that people set up in the streets, but they seem like nothing to what Westfield is going to be like. Melanie showed me and Kade the pictures of it on the computer earlier. My oh my, it looked HUGE.

"So..." Melanie's saying now, whilst searching through her bag for the train tickets, "What are you looking forward to the most?" I look at Kade, and she's looking back at me. We grin widely.

In unison we say, "SHOPPING!" Well, more like 'scream'. Melanie jokingly hushes us down, as others are staring this way, whilst me and Kade are just bursting with laughter. Soon, in under 5 minutes, we would be shopping till we drop! Melanie had taught us that phrase when we'd first got onto the train. She thought it'd come to good use, considering we're shopaholics. She also taught us that word too!

Suddenly, the train skids to a halt, and everyone's bustling out of the doors. Kade's hand slips through mine, and we push through the crowd to get off of the train. I try not to look through the gap whilst I step onto the platform, and Melanie helps me, guiding me by grabbing my arm. We take a quick ride on the tube to a station called 'White City', and when we get off, there's a 5 minute walk to Westfield.

As I trudge along, my body is beginning to shake. What if there's so many people at Westfield that we won't be able to try any clothes on, or buy anything? Melanie sees my worried look and puts an arm around my shoulder, pulling me closer.

"What's up hunny?" She asks.

I tell her, and she laughs. "Of course you'll be able to try on clothes, it won't be that busy! You can try on whatever wherever you like! Your money is endless today!"

"Endless?" Kade says, "But we can't spend all your money?"

"Yes, well maybe not endless. Just don't buy the whole shop, and we'll be just fine!" Melanie jokes. We both laugh, and soon as we know it, we're riding up the esculator into the shopping centre itself. Me and Kade explode into giggles.

30 minutes later, we're exploring the shops, pointing at hideous outfits, and daring each other to try them on. Once we get to new look, a popular fashionable shop, we start to try outfits on that we actually like. I grab a cute flowery dress that Melanie thinks will look good on me, a denim jacket to go over the top, and some gold sandals from the shoe section. It's the perfect outfit for summer!

Kada takes some tops and a pair of shorts to try on, and then we head off to the changing rooms. We have to wait a while, but once we get in there, I immediately get so excited! I run off into one of the sections, Kade taking one next to me, and we pull the curtain over. I strip off, pulling the smooth, delicate fabric of the dress over my body. Oh, I know I'll like it already!

Once I'm fully dressed up, I pull back the curtain, showing Melanie -who's sitting on a chair reading a magazine outside - my outfit. She stares at me in shock. I take it as a compliment.

"Wow, you look stunning!" She gasps, runs over and fusses with my hair. She ties a side plait down one side, and places a butterfly clip in my hair. I smile, staring at my unfamiliar figure in the mirror. Then, I notice a shadow behind me.

I turn around to see Kade wearing a red and white checkered shirt and some high leg shorts. Her hair is floating past her shoulders and she hugs me caringly.

"You look amazing!" I breath out, staring at her perfect figure and beauty.

"Not as amazing as you!" She grins, sliding her arm around my waist.

Melanie comes up from behind us. "You both look lovely. I totally approve of the outfits. You're going to have to take them off now, though. We need to pay for them." Me and Kade exchange looks, before slumping away to our section to get changed back into our original clothes.

15 minutes later, we're walking out of the shop, New Look bags slung over our arms. I have a massive grin on my face, and I can't stop squealing for at least another hour. We stop for lunch at a place called 'The Spaghetti House' and they serve me the best spaghetti and meatballs ever!

Once we're done eating, and have window-shopped for at least another hour, we suddenly remember that we need to get Kade a new phone. We take a look at the map, and head towards an O2 shop. We seemed to be walking for ages, and it probably was, as O2 is on the other side of Westfield. But when we see it, right in the distance, we can't make out if its still open or not.

"Oh, I hope it is!" Kade wails, clutching my arm.

"Oh it will be!" I reassure her, and when we stop outside, the sign cleary reads 'OPEN'. I guess we're in luck.
