14. The Escape

I've wondered for so many years what life is like for homless people, I've realised now that I am homeless, I now know what it is like. You feel cold all the time, you learn not to cry, you loose your mind. However, I'm not going to be on the streets for much longer because I can't do it anymore I have to get home. I keep seeing flashes of mum's face, tears streaming down her face and it hurts my heart every time.

The sun hadn't risen yet, the streets weren't busy and it was perfect timing. They were all asleep after their binge drink last night, I knew nothing would wake them. I slipped on my trainers while I looked for my bag they had taken from me the night they found me. I couldn't find it anywhere and I knew it would be getting light soon. So I left and didn't look back as I started to run!

My feet were in so much pain as I'd been running for hours, the streets were now busy and I knew the gang would have started looking for me. I had to keep going. I wasn't even sure where I was going but it felt good to be going somewhere and in my heart I knew I would get home at some point and I just had to be patient.
