The Game of H.A.M.

Word Count :4,999/5,000. This is the first of the trilogy and every character in this tale is named after the username of a friend I have made in Runescape. What happens when the Gielinor Games, an occasion designed to bring all the races of Runescape together to bond and compete, gets interrupted by a Hate organization? Follow the survival story of Ted and Lucy as they fight to bring a warning to the city of Varrock of impending doom. What secret magic has the group known as the "Death Droppers" uncovered that could shift the security of Varrock forever?

6. Late for the Games

The rays of the sun were the first signs that they were home. The humid air told them a rainstorm had recently passed, but Varrock was not how they had left it. They had arrived on the outside, southern walls of Varrock and even from here, smoke could be seen emanating from the center.

“Come, we may be too late,” ordered Chryzo.

Running through the gates were the first signs of trouble as no guards were present to control access in and out of the city. Surrounding buildings displayed broken windows, and small fires. The clan approached an Inn, which remained relatively untouched compared to the surrounding buildings.

“Dakkhyl, take Atarah to the Blue Moon Inn, he needs immediate care”, said Chryzo as Dakkhyl helped a weak Atarah into the building.

“Look, the weapon store, it’s been completely looted!” said Haddy.

“Lucy, Ted, go in there and see if you can find anything to arm yourselves with, we will need your assistance if necessary”, said Evi.

Inside the shop, Lucy and Ted armed themselves with whatever was left which in the end was a pair of swords made of Adamant metal, and a set of iron chainmail hidden in the back storage.

They hurried north, all with their weapons drawn. Arriving in the center of the city, the battle scene replicated that of the great Falador Massacre. Men in purple robes were in combat with the Varrock guards. Bodies of Trolls, Goblins, Elves, and humans lay scattered among the wreckage of surrounding buildings. The Death Droppers, with Jay and Murdoc leading, were firing spells and ice barrages at all they could see until Murdoc spotted Chryzo.

“Fun’s over men, looks like it’s time to go”, sneered Muroc as he teleported away.

With the Death Droppers leaving, the H.A.M. members began to panic and retreat south. Chryzo withdrew his sword and struck down any H.A.M. member that crossed his path, Evi fired multiple arrows downing the attackers, while Andy fired spells of his own. Overrun by the Varrock guard many of the H.A.M members were killed but many managed to escape.
