The Risk

15 year old Cassie Acquah doesn't realize what "risk" is until she gets herself stuck... The thing is, a board game isn't really the same as real life, so how will she survive when she gets thrown head-first into one. Well, I suppose she COULD fall in love with the troop leader, become a soldier and explore the world on horseback, but how will she ever get out?

3. The Game

My face was restored of it's natural pink (if slightly freckled) colour when I saw Ben's head poke cautiously out of the trapdoor. He scanned around, then fixed his beady eyes on me. "Will... will you really play with me?" I could still see the sticky stain from where his tears had once dripped.

"'Course," I said frantically as he clambered out of the trapdoor and thudded onto the landing. "What are sisters for?" and I smiled weakly at him, taking his arm and leading him down the corridor.

We reached a room that I'd never been allowed into until I was 15. It was the guest bedroom, daubed with warm reds and draped with sild and embroidery. Mami had said I could show Ben this when I thought I was ready for real life, and I thought this was the time. I knew what the real world was like, I mean I'm fifteen for crying out loud, and I knew ben needed cheering up. I opened up the door, and escourted my little brother into the room. It was even better than I remembered; the four-poster bed stood grandly on the marble platform to the side of the room, the luxurious duck-egg velvet armchair invited you to sit on it like nothing else in the rest of the house and the soft fur carpets made your feet feel like they were walking on clouds. I saw Ben's mouth drop so wide you could fit an entire fist in it and still have room to breathe. It was incredible, so incredible. once he had calmed down, he managed to exclaim "What shall we play?" before runnign contetedly over to the cuboard in search for a game.
